However, Carell, earlier, while speaking to The Hollywood Reporter confirmed he will not appear. "I will be watching but I will not be showing up. It's just a new thing and there's really no reason for my character [Michael Scott] to show up in something like that," he said. "But I'm excited about it, it sounds like a great conceit. I love the idea -- I guess it's set in a failing newspaper company, and I worked with , who is one of the leads; I did [2022 series] The Patient with him and he's an excellent actor and a super nice guy so I think it'll be great," he added.

Jenna Fischer Says the Later Seasons of ‘The Office' Are ‘Really Good' Despite ‘Belief' that the Show Was ‘Treading Water' After Steve Carell's Exit: ‘There Were Still These Amazing Storylines'

As one of the show's most iconic characters, it's fitting that Jenna Fischer has love for every season of 'The Office.' Fischer, who played Pam Beesly across 188 episodes of the classic NBC workplace comedy, revisited all 201 episodes of 'The Office' and documented her journey on her 'Office Ladies' podcast. She finished the series in October, and in a recent conversation on Dana Carvey and David Spade's 'Fly on the Wall' podcast, she shared one of her major takeaways. She explained that there is a consensus that after series frontman Steve Carell exited the show in Season 7, the series took a nose dive in quality. However, upon her rewatch, Fischer found this to be a misconception. 'I think there was this lore, especially among the cast and the creatives, that maybe we hit our peak in Season 3 or Season 4,' Fischer added. 'And also this belief that the two seasons after Steve left, we were just treading water and maybe they weren't as good. But when I watched everything, some of my favorite episodes were in seasons 8 and 9 after Steve had left. There were still these amazing storylines.' She added that her favorite era of the show was 'seasons 4 through 6,' shouting out 'Dinner Party' in Season 4 as a standout episode. Although the original 'Office' ended in May of 2013, Peacock recently unveiled a spinoff series titled 'The Paper.' The official logline for the show reads, 'The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it.' John Krasinski Says Domhnall Gleeson Discussed Taking Role in THE OFFICE Spinoff Series THE PAPER With Him — GeekTyrant

Fans of The Office are looking forward to the upcoming series The Paper , which is set in the same universe as the fan-favorite show, which followed employees at the Dunder-Mifflin Paper Company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. While it was a mockumentary-style show set out to capture the daily lives of a group of co-workers and their cringy boss, it was also so full of heart and fantastically-written characters, it has stayed at the top of rewatched series since it aired. John Krasinski, who played Jim in The Office , got to know the star of the upcoming spinoff, Domhnall Gleeson, while working with him on recently released Apple TV+ adventure flick Fountain of Youth . The Office showrunner Greg Daniels created the spinoff with Michael Koman ( Nathan For You ), and Daniels is showrunning the new series set to stream on Peacock in September. When asked by Entertainment Tonight if he could see himself reuniting with Daniels on The Paper , Krasinski said, 'I would do anything for that guy. He calls, I'll show up.' He went on to say that Gleeson is 'amazing,' adding, 'He's one of my favorite actors. I remember we were in Cairo [filming Fountain of Youth ], and he said, 'Can I talk to you about something?' And it was real serious. He said, 'I just got offered this part in The Paper . What do you think?'' 'I said, 'You've got to do it,'' Krasinski continued. 'He's like, 'I think it's going to be really good.' I said, 'As long as Greg is behind it, it's going to be great.' We're all so supportive. The whole cast [of The Office ] was texting about these guys making their show. It's going to be awesome.' The Paper also stars Sabrina Impacciatore ( The White Lotus ), Melvin Gregg ( Nine Perfect Strangers ), Chelsea Frei ( The Moodys ), Ramona Young ( Never Have I Ever ), Gbemisola Ikumelo ( A League of Their Own ), Alex Edelman ( Just For Us ), and Tim Key ( The End of the F***ing World ) as the staffers of The Truth Teller . The Office actor Oscar Nuñez recurs alongside Nancy Lenehan ( Veep ), Molly Ephraim ( Last Man Standing ), Tracy Letts ( Homeland ), and Allan Havey, who appeared as Henry Bruegger — a Brussels sprouts farmer and father of Nora Kirkpatrick's Esther Bruegger — in The Farm episode of The Office that doubled as a backdoor pilot for a potential spinoff fronted by Rainn Wilson's Dwight Schrute. The Paper premieres this fall on Peacock. via: CB

‘He was wonderful' – Domhnall Gleeson advised by Steve Carrell to take role in new The Office spinoff

The Paper was also created by Greg Daniels, who is the brains behind The Office. Gleeson said that John Krasinski, who also starred in the show, encouraged him to take on the job. "He was wonderful. I mean, his big advice that he gave me was to do it,' he told People. "And the same with Steve Carell, another just wonderful actor who I'd worked with before. 'Their advice was, if it's Greg Daniels, you should do it because getting to work with him is a treat that not many people get to have. "I'm so happy I did it because I think we have something really lovely. So I'm thrilled with it. "I mean, I like to think I would've got there on my own anyway, but certainly if [John] and Steve had been like, 'Don't do it, it's a nightmare,' I would've hightailed it, but they could not have been more positive about it, and I'm delighted I listened to them.' The Paper, a mockumentary-style show, will follow staff at a tanking Ohio newspaper, The Truth Teller. Gleeson, who plays Ned, will star alongside Sabrina Impacciatore as Esmerelda, while The Office star Oscar Nunez will reprise his role as Oscar Martinez. 'I don't know that there's much I can tease because they're being super in-house about letting the information out when the show comes out, which I think is a good way to do it,' he told Collider. "People are going to have to take the show on its own merits because it's become something different. It's a whole new city. It's not like a remake. "It's like the documentary crew went to a different city, and they're following different people. "It's not a paper company, it's a newspaper. It's a very, very different setup.' The Paper is set to premiere in September.

Get one year of Peacock Premium for only $25

Another great streaming deal has hit the internet: one year of Peacock Premium is only $25 right now. Just use the code SPRINGSAVINGS at checkout to get $55 off the standard annual price of the Premium plan. Just note that this tier does include ads, and the deal runs through May 30. Peacock is a decent platform and made our list of the best streaming services. It doesn't get the attention of Netflix or Disney+, but it's home to several nifty original shows. There's the AI-adjacent tomfoolery of Mrs. Davis and the Rian Johnson-made whodunnit Poker Face . It also airs several video game adaptations, like Knuckles and the surprisingly-decent Twisted Metal . The big draw here, however, is likely the long-awaited spinoff of The Office , which is called The Paper . That one premieres in September and is a Peacock exclusive. The platform also signed an 11-year agreement with the NBA and that goes into effect this fall. The mobile app could be getting minigames and short-form vertical videos (like TikTok) in the near future. There's one caveat. This subscription will automatically renew for $80 after the year runs out. Stay on top of scheduling if you want to cancel before then.
