‘Sixth Sense' Star Haley Joel Osment Sentenced After April Arrest
A California judge has made a ruling after Oscar-nominated actor Haley Joel Osment was arrested for suspected public intoxication, People reported. Sixth Sense star Osment was arrested on April 8 in Mammoth Lakes, CA, on charges of alleged public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned in a local court on June 2. During his arraignment, Osment requested and was granted a one-year diversion which requires him to attend three AA meetings each week for the next six months. Osment must also meet with his therapist at least twice weekly during the next six months and obey all to the outlet, the Mono County district attorney's office objected to Osment's diversion request because of the actor's previous DUI conviction. They also cited Osment's use of racial slurs towards arresting officers as reason the diversion should not have been granted. During his arrest, Osment accused one officer of being 'a f---ing Nazi' and use an antisemitic slur against another. If Osment completes the diversion program, the court will dismiss all charges related to the most recent incident. However, criminal proceedings will be reinstated if Osment does not complete the program. Osment will next appear in court on Jan. 5, 2026, when the judge will review his compliance with the issued an apology back in April for the 'disgraceful language' he used during his arrest, explaining that 'the past few months of loss and displacement' after losing his home in January's Eaton fire 'have broken me down to a very low emotional place.' "I'm absolutely horrified by my behavior. Had I known I used this disgraceful language in the throes of a blackout, I would have spoken up sooner," Osment said in his statement. "But that's no excuse for using this disgusting word. From the bottom of my heart, I apologize to absolutely everyone that this hurts. What came out of my mouth was nonsensical garbage—I've let the Jewish community down and it devastates me. I don't ask for anyone's forgiveness, but I promise to atone for my terrible mistake."Though Osment is best known for his adolescent roles in The Sixth Sense and Pay It Forward, he's maintained a busy career in subsequent years with over 130 acting credits. Most recently, he appeared opposite Channing Tatum in Zoë Kravitz's 2024 thriller Blink Twice.'Sixth Sense' Star Haley Joel Osment Sentenced After April Arrest first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 3, 2025

Haley Joel Osment comes to unexpected deal in cocaine and public intoxication arrest that included racist rant
Haley Joel Osment appears to have put a troublesome situation behind him, in reaching a deal to escape jail time in his public intoxication and cocaine possession arrest less than two months ago. The Sixth Sense star, 37, will attend three Alcoholics Anonymous meeting weekly as part of a deal he hammered out with a court in Northern California following his April 8 arrest at the Mammoth Mountain resort. The Oscar-nominee was allowed to enter a yearlong diversion program in connection with the case stemming from his arrest at the Mammoth Lakes, California ski destination. The Los Angeles native came to the accord days after authorities with the Mono County District Attorney's office said they had filed misdemeanor charges against the actor in connection with the incident. Officials with the District Attorney's office were not pleased with the actor being allowed to attend a diversion program since he previously got a DUI in 2006 in Los Angeles. Authorities with the office, in their objection, also noted that the actor was caught on camera using racial epithets while he was taken into custody, sources told People. Osment had an arraignment slated to July 7, which will be scuttled now that a deal has been worked out. Osment was an overnight child star sensation as the last millennium drew to a close, with his jarring portrayal of Cole Sear opposite Bruce Willis in M. Night Shyamalan's The Sixth Sense. The character, a child with the ability to communicate with the departed, was etched into p op culture lore with the iconic line from the film, 'I see dead people.' The motion picture - which also featured Toni Collette, Olivia Williams, Trevor Morgan and Donnie Wahlberg - was a success at the box office and with critics. It garnered six Oscar nominations in 2000, including Best Director for Shyamalan and Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Osment. The child star lost out on the honors to the legendary Michael Caine for The Cider House Rules, Other nominees Magnolia's Tom Cruise, The Talented Mr. Ripley's Jude Law and The Green Mile's Michael Clarke Duncan. Other films Osment has been featured in include the 1994 megahit Forrest Gump as Forrest Junior, 2000s Pay It Forward and the 2001 Steven Spielberg movie A.I. The charismatic actor has also carved out his presence on the small screen with a number of recurring roles on shows such as Teachers, Comedy Bang! Bang and The Kominsky Method.

‘Hurry Up Tomorrow,' Ending Explained
Hurry Up Tomorrow unfolds as a psychological odyssey centered on a globally renowned musician with insomnia and mental breakdown in the slow cooker. Directed by and starring Abel Tesfaye—formerly known as The Weeknd, currently known as Abel Tesfaye, and possibly known tomorrow as something else entirely—the film is a surrealist farewell to his alter ego. It's indulgent, it's cryptic, it's not always coherent. Let's get this out of the way: Hurry Up Tomorrow is not a movie in the traditional sense. Noir lighting and a haunting synth orchestral score does not a movie make. The film draws inspiration from a real-life incident in 2022 when Tesfaye lost his voice during a concert, serving as a catalyst for the story's exploration of identity and self-destruction. The plot, such as it is, starts in free fall. Tesfaye's character—also named Abel, pause for subtlety—loses his voice onstage during a massive stadium show. One second he's crooning, the next he's gasping, and then the screen snaps to black. When we rejoin him, he's holed up in a sterile hotel room, surrounded by voiceless handlers and memory fragments. Enter: Anima. Played by Jenna Ortega, we meet Anima as she is burning her home down as a pregame to one of Abel's concerts. Simultaneously, Abel, under the pressure of his career and personal turmoil, is diagnosed with muscle tension dysphonia. Despite his manager Lee's (Barry Keoghan) encouragement to perform, Abel's voice falters on stage, leading him to abruptly end the show. Backstage, Anima appears to Abel as a fan, then a muse, then—probably—a hallucination. She is not real. Welcome back, The Sixth Sense. Anima leads Abel down a nocturnal rabbit hole of increasingly unhinged set pieces: a silent cab ride through a city that looks vaguely like downtown L.A. but smells like purgatory; a motel bathtub full of black roses; a rave full of masked doppelgängers dancing to a slowed-down version of 'Starboy.' This is the part where the movie stops pretending to care about narrative. We get flashbacks (or are they dreams?) of Abel as a child watching his mother cry during an eviction. We see him in a recording studio, singing into a mic that slowly turns into a noose. We watch Anima smear lipstick across his face, whispering, 'You made me up so you could forget.' And then comes the fire… In the film's hypnotic climax on a windswept rooftop, Anima drenches Abel in gasoline and strikes a match. He burns, but doesn't die. He stands in the flames, blank-faced, glowing like a saint on fire. A loud metaphor for death and rebirth, Abel emerges unscathed, suggesting a transformation and the shedding of his former persona, The Weeknd. Cut to: a final shot of Abel walking, alone, into the morning light. Silent and unbranded. Tesfaye has been teasing the death of 'The Weeknd' for years now, and Hurry Up Tomorrow is less a story than a Gucci-clad funeral. Of course, the vanity project's art-school symbolism and elliptical dialogue—'Do you love the dream or the sleeper?', an actual line—will leave some viewers shivering with The Idol flashbacks. For those tuned into Tesfaye's wavelength—equal parts Prince, Lynch, and Tumblr—it's a mostly entertaining piece of personal myth-making. Hurry Up Tomorrow is now playing in theaters. Haley Joel Osment is seen for the first time after screaming 'Nazi' at cop during drug arrest meltdown
Haley Joel Osment was seen for the first time after he was arrested for alleged public intoxication and drug possession at a California ski resort last month. The 37-year-old The Sixth Sense actor - who addressed the incident on a podcast last month - broke cover as he walked his dogs in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Shocking bodycam footage showed the moment Haley was arrested last month —yelling at officers and calling one a 'Nazi' during a chaotic confrontation. The star was busted on April 8 for public intoxication and drug possession at a California ski resort, but what began as a disorderly encounter quickly spiraled into a meltdown. Haley was dressed for comfort on the stroll in Southern California as he sported a navy blue full-zip hoodie over a brown polo shirt. He also sorted a pair of skinny black trousers and brown flip-flops while holding onto the leashes of his small pups. The former child actor accessorized with a pair of black designer shades and a blue Los Angeles Dodgers baseball cap. This comes weeks after a podcast interview gives crucial insight into what led up to the former child star taking the ill-fated trip in the first place. On the April 15 episode of Conan O'Brien sidekick Andy Richter's podcast The Three Questions, he revealed that he was going up to Mammoth Mountain resort in Mammoth Lakes to give his sister Emily Osment a break. The Sixth Sense star — who shouted a shocking antisemitic slur while being arrested — had been living with the Young Sheldon actress since he lost his home in the devastating Eaton Fire in January. Haley said he wanted to give his sister a bit more freedom after monopolizing so much of her time and space in recent months. 'No matter how well we get along, it's still somebody in your house,' he said of the awkward situation, via TMZ. It was a particularly difficult time for her, as she filed to divorce her husband Jack Anthony in March after just five months of marriage. The fires created a tense situation for Haley's entire family, as he shared that it was 'devastating' to learn that his parents also lost their home in the same area, even though he thought he could eventually 'bounce back' from the loss. It would have been a particularly full house for Emily, as her brother revealed that their parents had also been staying with her in the first few weeks after their houses burned down. In order to give Emily some space, her brother said he planned to spend some time at the ski resort and would 'take the dogs' up there 'to give her some privacy again,' before delving into his search for a replacement home 'in the next week or two.' He noted sheepishly that his three dogs — 'as sweet as they are' — could be 'loud' in her house. However, he did clarify that he hadn't been living with her nonstop since January, as he did leave for a weeks-long trip to Japan, and he had 'been taking little trips' here and there to let her take control of her house for a bit. The actor's mental state may have played a role in his arrest, as sources familiar with his current situation told TMZ that he has been having a tough time after his home was burned to the ground in the devastating Altadena fire. His difficult interactions with his insurance company as he tries to get reimbursed for his destroyed home have reportedly been weighing on him. Sources said he had recently found a suitable replacement home, but he was unable to get his insurance company to pay for it. In the disturbing video obtained by a disheveled Osment appears out of it, swaying on his feet and repeatedly trying—and failing—to keep his pants up as he struggles with officers at Mammoth Mountain. The former child actor is seen stumbling, slurring, and eventually collapsing to the ground as police handcuff him and wrestle him into the back of a patrol vehicle. At one point, Osment yells, 'I've been kidnapped by a f***ing Nazi!' and accuses police of 'torturing me' while demanding they stop the alleged abuse. He also hurled an antisemitic slur during the vile tirade. Now, Osment is trying to do damage control. 'I'm absolutely horrified by my behavior. Had I known I used this disgraceful language in the throes of a blackout, I would have spoken up sooner,' he said in a statement on Friday, per People, adding, 'The past few months of loss and displacement have broken me down to a very low emotional place.' Osment recently lost his home in the devastating Los Angeles wildfires and, according to TMZ, has been locked in a battle with his insurance company over financial compensation. He continued, 'But that's no excuse for using this disgusting word. From the bottom of my heart, I apologize to absolutely everyone that this hurts. 'What came out of my mouth was nonsensical garbage - I've let the Jewish community down and it devastates me. Before he was put in the cop car, Osment was swaying on his feet and repeatedly trying—and failing—to keep his pants up At one point, Osment yells, 'I've been kidnapped by a f – – king Nazi!' and accuses police of 'torturing me' while demanding they stop the alleged abuse 'I don't ask for anyone's forgiveness, but I promise to atone for my terrible mistake.' On Thursday evening told TMZ he was 'absolutely horrified by [his] behavior, which he said occurred 'in the throes of a blackout. 'Had I known I used this disgraceful language ... I would have spoken up sooner.' The Southern California native was booked in connection with possession of cocaine and disorderly conduct under the influence of alcohol in public, according to TMZ. He was reportedly released shortly after being booked. Despite the booking, Osment's fate now lies with the District Attorney for Mono County, who will decide on whether to charge him. Osment's image as a squeaky-clean child actor came crashing down back in 2006, when he was arrested after crashing his car into a mailbox's brick pillar, which flipped his car over. He broke a rib and injured in his shoulder in the crash, necessitating a brief hospital stay. A month later, he was charged with misdemeanor DUIs for driving under the influence of alcohol with an alleged blood-alcohol content higher than 0.15 percent and for possession of marijuana while driving. Osment was also charged with having a 0.05 percent BAC while under 21. He ultimately pleaded no contest to one count each of driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of marijuana. The Forrest Gump actor was sentenced to three years of probation, along with 60 hours for an alcohol rehabilitation program. He was also required to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings for six months and to pay a $1,500 fine. In February, Osment opened up about his housing woes after losing his home to the Eaton Fire. While speaking on the Mentor Buffet podcast, he noted his difficulties living in California, as he had lived in New York for 15 years before moving closer to Hollywood in 2020 — just days before a statewide stay-at-home order from Governor Gavin Newsom. 'I had this very intense pandemic relationship that ended up going nowhere. Then things started picking up after the worst of the pandemic,' he explained. 'Then there was the [SAG/WGA] strike, which I totally supported, but that put everything on hold for a very long time. 'And then we've had some political upheaval and this house that had been my refuge during the pandemic was completely destroyed in the Eaton Fire.' At the time, Osment wrote on social media: 'My heart would be so full every time I drove home. It was such a special place. I loved living there.' In January, the Oscar nominee's younger sister — Young Sheldon actor Emily Osment — revealed that their parents also lost their home in the Eaton Fire.

Crime thriller from iconic director that 'can be a bit ridiculous' is finally streaming
It divided some fans A crime thriller that's been hailed as 'absurdly brilliant' is now available for streaming. Trap, the latest cinematic outing from iconic filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan, known for iconic films like The Sixth Sense, is now accessible to fans via a Sky or NOW Cinema membership. Shyamalan, who also penned and directed other notable films such as Unbreakable, Split, Signs and The Knock at the Cabin, has even cast his own daughter in this suspenseful thriller. The film stars Josh Hartnett, recognised for his roles in Lucky Number Slevin and 30 Days of Night. The plot revolves around Cooper (Hartnett), a father who takes his teenage daughter to a concert, only to find themselves caught up in a complex and ominous event. The authorities have chosen this musical event as a trap to capture a notorious serial killer known as The Butcher, who they believe will be attending. Armed officers are stationed at every exit of the arena, with cameras set up to ensnare the criminal. However, the seemingly loving father, Cooper, is actually the killer being pursued, and he must devise a plan to evade the trap, reports Surrey Live. Upon its initial release, the film received a lukewarm response, with Josh Hartnett's performance earning accolades but failing to captivate even the most ardent Shyamalan enthusiasts. Now that it's available for streaming in the UK, there's anticipation that it will attract fresh viewers. Despite its imperfections, some fans have expressed their admiration, with one enthusiast drawing parallels to the hit show Dexter, featuring a serial killer protagonist. They took to social media to share: "For all you Dexter fans out there, couple the overtones from this critically acclaimed series with the creative intrigue and genius of M. Night Shyamalan and what do you have? You've got a winning combination. This combination is precisely what you get in the movie, Trap." Another viewer offered their take on the film, calling it "Ludicrous, in the best way. Good fun thriller, over the top, a little like Split in that respect." However, they also hinted that Shyamalan casting his daughter may not have been the wisest move. They remarked: "Third act is weaker, including the let down acting of Shyamalan's daughter, Saleka, which threatens to derail the whole film when the time comes for her to act (rather than sing, as Lady Raven), but that's M Night Shyamalan all over and, besides, it sort of redeems itself at the end. " They continued: "Josh Hartnett is a treat to watch, as is the young actress, Ariel Donoghue, who plays his daughter, very natural. Don't take it seriously, have no specific expectations, own a get-in-free card and it's a joy to ride this coaster. I will come back to it again and again." Trap might not be bagging any awards for best film in Shyamalan's repertoire, often known for its twist endings. A viewer bemoaned: "Possibly one of the worst movies I've ever had the displeasure of watching. The twist is that I wasted nearly 3 hours of my life." Yet, the movie hasn't been left without its champions; an enthusiast stated: "Although the plot can be a bit ridiculous at times, this film is entertaining and interesting enough to be worth a watch. Josh Hartnett is AMAZING in his role and really carries the film." One viewer was keen to sing the praises of the director and the star's chilling portrayal, urging: "Do not sleep on this movie. Josh Hartnett absolutely delivers a chilling performance in this film. From beginning to the very end, you're sitting with an uncomfortable outside perspective that keeps you on the edge of your seat. In typical Shyamalan style, just when you think you know what's going to happen next - You're dead wrong."
