Kendrick Lamar smashes touring records with 'Grand National Tour'

Kendrick Lamar has done it again. The Compton-born rapper, already a legend, just made history with his 'Grand National Tour'. Kendrick has become the first rapper to have multiple tours in the top five highest-grossing hip-hop tours of all time. 'The Grand National Tour' has already grossed over R2.19 billion, overtaking his own 'Big Steppers Tour', which earned R2.16 billion in 2023. Industry experts now predict it will rake in over R6.8 billion by the end, smashing Drake's previous record and setting a new bar for the genre. Kendrick Lamar kicked off the tour in Minneapolis, where he and SZA pulled in a record R177 million from just one night. Houston saw another record: R184 million in a single show. Seattle? An eye-watering R288 million, with nearly 61,000 fans in attendance. It was the the largest crowd yet, according to Hot New HipHop. The tour isn't just about Kendrick, as SZA, his co-headliner, also brings her own magic. Their chemistry on stage is electric, and together, they've dominated the charts. SZA's SOS album even dethroned Michael Jackson's record for the longest-running #1 album in Billboard history. Fans have been treated to unforgettable duets, including 30 for 30 and Luther , as well as Kendrick's viral diss tracks Euphoria and Not Like Us . Kendrick Lamar enjoys immense popularity in South Africa, consistently ranking among the country's most-streamed international artists. According to Spotify's 2024 data, Kendrick was one of the top-streamed artists in South Africa. Kendrick Lamar's influence is further underscored by his streaming dominance. He surpassed 5 billion Spotify streams globally in just the first four months of 2025. This demonstrated his enduring relevance and reach among South African listeners and beyond. At SoFi Stadium, Kendrick reflected on the journey. 'They always claim you're the most subdued audience across the globe. I swear they say that,' he told the crowd. 'But for the last two nights, I believe we have transformed their entire viewpoint worldwide.' With the tour's momentum, the world is watching. Kendrick Lamar makes history, one sold-out stadium at a time. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. 5 Western Cape towns that feel like Italy's Cinque Terre

Italy's Cinque Terre (five lands/towns) is famous for its five colourful cliffside villages, sea views, and relaxed pace of life. But you don't need to fly here to get that same charm. With its coastal gems and historic towns, the Western Cape offers spots that echo the spirit of the Italian Riviera – minus the tourists and euro exchange rate. Here are five Western Cape towns that feel surprisingly like Cinque Terre… While Knysna has more greenery than the arid cliffs of Liguria, its deep connection to water and small-town elegance mirror places like Monterosso. The Knysna Heads, dramatic cliffs at the mouth of the lagoon, give you the sweeping sea views you'd expect in northern Italy. Add in fresh oysters, boutique lodges, and sunset cruises, and you've got your Mediterranean fix. Cinque Terre feel: Nature, tranquility, and the kind of place that makes you slow down. Knysna, Western Cape. Image: canva This naval town sits along the False Bay coastline with colourful Victorian buildings and cobbled streets. The pace is relaxed, the views are spectacular, and the atmosphere is unmistakably maritime. Plus, with Boulders Beach and its famous penguins nearby, you get something even Italy's Cinque Terre can't offer. Cinque Terre feel: Quiet beauty, marine heritage, and postcard-worthy scenery. Simon's Town, Western Cape. Image: canva Kalk Bay hits the same notes as Riomaggiore or Vernazza – vivid buildings tumbling down a hillside, narrow alleys packed with cafés, and the ocean never more than a few steps away. Once a sleepy fishing village, it's now an artsy hotspot, full of independent shops, fresh seafood joints, and quirky boutiques. The working harbour, bobbing boats, and resident seals seal the deal. Cinque Terre feel: Vibrant, walkable, and filled with salty air and local life. Fishing boats in Kalk Bay. Image: wikimedia commons Paternoster could be plucked straight from the Amalfi coast – think white homes with blue shutters, fishing boats on the shore, and restaurants serving up the catch of the day. It's laid-back, windblown, and stunning. Unlike the steep cliffs of Cinque Terre, Paternoster's charm lies in its raw, unfiltered openness. Cinque Terre feel: Seaside simplicity with a side of seafood pasta. Paternoster, Western Cape. Image: wikimedia commons Famous for whale watching, Hermanus has more to offer than migrating giants. Its clifftop paths wind past dramatic sea views, echoing the rugged walks between Cinque Terre villages. The town itself blends upmarket cafés, art galleries, and seafood restaurants with a laid-back vibe. Wander the Old Harbour, watch fishermen haul in their catch, and feel that same seaside rhythm that makes Cinque Terre special. Cinque Terre feel: Clifftop drama, oceanside cafés, and a lifestyle that hugs the coast. Hermanus, Western Cape. Police bust R400m counterfeit goods [video]

Police in KwaZulu-Natal have uncovered counterfeit luxury goods valued at approximately R400 million at a freight depot in Edwin Swales, south of Durban. Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said police discovered the counterfeit goods on Tuesday 27 May during a routine cargo profiling operation. 'Police were conducting a routine cargo profiling when they found two containers which contained counterfeit designer clothes, jewellery and kitchenware,' said Netshiunda. 'Both containers were fraudulently declared as furniture.' Read the full version of the ' Police seize counterfeit luxury goods worth R400 million in KZN' article. Investigators believe a supplier in an Asian country sent the containers to South Africa. The sender intended to deliver the cargo to Alberton and central Johannesburg in Gauteng Province. Street vendors typically sell the counterfeit goods marked with the trademarks of world-renowned luxury brands at significantly reduced prices. Looking for quick updates?
