The Ferrari SF90 Stradale Will Be Unrecognizable For 2026
The Ferrari SF90 Stradale Will Be Unrecognizable For 2026 originally appeared on Autoblog. A New Hybrid Supercar The Ferrari SF90 Stradale plug-in arrived as Maranello's first plug-in hybrid supercar in late 2019, and five years on, after run-out XX models have helped make the most of the generation, it's time for an encore. As reported by The Supercar Blog, Ferrari has begun teasing the SF90's replacement on the MyFerrari app, with a short clip revealing that the design is going to evolve considerably, and because this is Ferrari we're talking about, we expect the 986-horsepower supercar to be rechristened. Ferrari has trademarked several new terms of late, but where they may be applied is not obvious. Styling Changes Throughout At first glance, the screenshot we've included appears to depict one of two taillight clusters; the current SF90 has two separate taillights on each end of its rear fascia, and this snapshot appears to show that each unit will evolve into a narrow strip like the new Ferrari Amalfi or Ferrari F80. But in the clip, a more distant perspective seems to indicate that the taillights will join together in one continuous strip, or at least come close to it. Significant changes will take place at the other end of the car, too. Our European spies recently caught a mule for Project F173M (the replacement for the Type F173, or SF90 Stradale) in Germany, and those photographs depicted a car with large intakes where the headlights would traditionally go. But unlike the 12Cilindri and F80, the glimpse of the F173M's front end we see in this clip suggests that the headlights will be vertically oriented. Performance And Expected Launch DateThe development mule mentioned above appears to have been built on the bones of a V6-powered Ferrari 296 GTB, but multiple reports claim that the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 in the SF90 will be carried over, along with the three electric motors that make this a hybrid. Considering that Ferrari will have learned a lot in the last five-plus years, it's quite likely that more than a thousand horsepower will be offered, especially since Lamborghini's Revuelto PHEV makes 1,001 hp. Whatever the truth of the matter, the SF90's replacement is expected to be unveiled in Milan, Italy, on September 9. 'The Future:' Lamborghini Teases Its Most-Powerful Supercar Ever
Update: Lamborghini has provided a teaser image and more details surrounding its new special edition supercar. This story has been updated to reflect that. Lamborghini has entered a new era. The recently revealed Temerario and Revuelto are likely the foundation for a range of future one-off and limited-production variants, and we may already have the name for one such supercar. The Italian automaker has filed a trademark for the name "Fenomeno," suggesting it's cooking up something interesting. Lamborghini filed the trademark with the European Union Intellectual Property Office in April 2025. According to the agency, the filing is in its "opposition proceedings" that conclude on July 15. That means we might have to wait to see the name appear on a new product. Or maybe Lamborghini will surprise us in the coming weeks. The graphic representation the company submitted with the filing features the wordmark with styling like the brand's other supercars. It has horns on the F and O and a slanted font. The word Fenomeno is Italian and Spanish for phenomenon. Naming any car the Fenomeno is going to create some big expectations, but Lamborghini has delivered before, and its fresh lineup of hybrids packs a ton of power to play with. The Revuelto features a 6.5-liter hybrid V-12 that makes 1,001 horsepower, while the Temerario's twin-turbo V-8 and three electric motors deliver 920 hp. Lamborghini has confirmed that it will reveal a new limited-edition supercar at Monterey Car Week. The car will follow in the footsteps of few-offs like the Veneno, Centenario, and others before it. Lamborghini says its new limited-edition model will "map out the future of Lamborghini super sports cars." Reports from The Supercar Blog say that select clients have already seen the vehicle, and it promises to be Lamborghini's most powerful car ever, utilizing the company's ubituqious V-12. Lamborghini will reportedly produce just 29 examples. So we might not have to wait long to learn more. The Most Powerful Lamborghini Ever Will Also Be One Of The Rarest
In March this year, Lamborghini revealed the V12-powered Revuelto with an astonishing 1,001 horsepower, but it seems that figure is already soon to be eclipsed. If a report from The Supercar Blog is accurate, a new supercar is coming as "the most powerful Lamborghini ever made." The publication claims that the new vehicle will be based on the Revuelto but will carry a new name: Fenomeno. If that name sounds familiar, you may have seen that Sant'Agata applied to trademark the term in Europe, according to a filing unearthed by CarMoses back in April. The Supercar Blog says that Lamborghini recently hosted a private preview of the Fenomeno for some of its most elite customers, and that one of the clients who saw it described the Fenomeno as "a car that will change everything." The same client reportedly told TSB that the radical new supercar will harken to the past with a design inspired by one of the most iconic models in the brand's back catalog. It can't be the Countach because that's already been reimagined for the modern age, which potentially leads us to the Diablo, the Miura, and the 350 GT (though the latter was a front-engine car). However, shortly after the Countach LPI 800-4 arrived, company CEO Stephan Winkelmann told Autocar that he doesn't want to reimagine the past again, saying, "I'm not in favor of redoing cars. I look at the Miura and think it's great, but I think we really need to be focused on the future and we want to look back and say we were the ones who made new icons, not just copied old ones." Related: Mexican-Owned Lamborghini Revuelto Tries To Cross The Wrong Border Similar sentiments were shared by the head of service for Polo Storico, Lamborghini's in-house restoration department, when he told The Drive in January that the company is "not interested" in restomods and continuation cars. Thus, we can safely assume that the Fenomeno will be something entirely new, with only a little infusion of inspiration. Lamborghini wants its classics to remain special. At the same time, overdoing the nostalgia can indicate to buyers that a new car isn't all that novel. Thus, we can expect this new Lambo's styling to give a nod to the past without being defined by it. The final rumor claimed in the report is that the Fenomeno will be limited to just 29 examples, making it one of the rarest Lambos ever, behind only the Sesto Elemento (20 units), Veneno (13 units as a coupe plus nine in roadster form), Miura SVJ (3 units), and Diablo GT1 Stradale (2 units). The latter was part of an abandoned project, and there's a chance it may be the inspiration for this new Fenomeno. Let's assume that the Fenomeno will be revealed imminently but only reach production in 2026. If we subtract the number of units rumored for production from 2,026, we arrive at 1,997, and 1997 was the year in which the Diablo GT1 Stradale was produced. That's some seriously acrobatic arithmetic to justify our presumption, but until we receive official word from Sant'Agata, we'll have to keep playing the guessing game. Whatever the truth, this likely won't be the only Raging Bull stampeding towards us; the CarMoses report we mentioned at the outset revealed another new, yet-to-be-assigned Lambo name: Armero...
