Helldivers 2 Players Are Pulling Off Incredible Feats In A Last-Ditch Effort To Save Super Earth
Helldivers 2's Galactic War has come to Super Earth and it's going very, very badly. Players have lost every major city on the planet save for two, but are making a triumphant last stand against the Illuminate as fans from across the real world band together to hold the line. Players have spent the last week tackling Major Orders that have tasked them with defending Super Earth's Mega Cities from squids (the nickname for the blue alien invaders). Things haven't been going well, though, as one city after another has fallen, from York Supreme to Remembrance. The rain forest was turned into giant airfields and Super Earth's remaining natural wonders were liquidated in a break-glass effort to reverse the tide. Throughout the chaos, heroes were made and new bonds were forged among fans, much of it around finding unique and clever ways to take out massive Leviathan spacecraft flying over the urban battlefields. reddit-thread-Helldivers-1kyh5sl reddit-thread-Helldivers-1kvlpm9 reddit-thread-Helldivers-1krsdl4 The last remaining cities are Prosperity (Stockholm) and Equality on Sea (Shanghai). With reported swells of players from China helping to hold back the advancing Illuminate, fans have been swapping memes about geopolitical harmony. Think Woody Guthrie's 'This Land Is Your Land' but about U.S.-China relations and conceived of by meme-pilled Redditors. Unfortunately, it didn't take long for division within the ranks to start poisoning the new ties of friendship. Players managed to push the Equality on Sea defense percentage up to 99.9783 percent but not beyond. No matter how many players flooded the battlefield, the odds seemed stacked against them. Negative reviews seemingly written by Chinese players started flooding the Helldivers 2 Steam page. The phrase '99.9783" was spammed over and over again. The confusion, amplified by the language barrier, has sowed dissension within the Helldivers 2 community. reddit-thread-Helldivers-1ky6fp6 This internal conflict may involve a translation issue with the Mandarin-language version of a current Major Order. According to some fans on Reddit, instead of saying 'percentage held' it reads something like 'defense success,' potentially implying that Chinese players are supposed to hit 100 percent in order to achieve the objective rather than just hold the city until the onslaught subsides. It's become an oddly unexpected mess. The tides also appear to have once again started turning against Super Earth's remaining defenders. Why? One likely reason is that tons of players in China have now gone to sleep. Helldivers 2's concurrent peak on PC tends to occur at around 10:00 a.m. ET. That means there's currently a long night ahead for players in later time zones. The only question now is whether there's still a chance to halt the Illuminate advance or if the total destruction is all part of Arrowhead Game Studio's endgame for the current phase of the Galactic War. What then? Maybe Super Earth will be detonated into another black hole. Maybe other weird cosmic anomalies will come into play. Or maybe players will discover some technology that lets them go back in time and fight over the fabric of reality itself. I wouldn't put it past Arrowhead to do something completely unexpected, though how players respond to whatever transpires will likely remain the most entertaining part of the ongoing drama. . Rage Against the Machine guitarist rips Trump over president's feud with Bruce Springsteen in fiery rant
Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello had some choice words for President Donald Trump at a concert on Sunday. Rolling Stone reported that during his performance at the Boston Calling Music Festival, the famous musician unloaded on Trump in response to the president's recent spat with classic rock legend Bruce Springsteen. "Bruce is going after Trump because Bruce, his whole life, he's been about truth, justice, democracy, equality," Morello said onstage, adding, "And Trump is mad at him because Bruce draws a bigger audience. F---that guy." Flashback: Bruce Springsteen Endorses Kamala Harris The feud between Trump and Springsteen began nearly two weeks ago when the artist accused the president of treason during a concert in Manchester, England. "The mighty E Street Band is here tonight to call upon the righteous power of art, of music, of rock and roll in dangerous times. In my home, the America I love, the America I've written about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration," Springsteen said, drawing applause from his audience. Read On The Fox News App Tesla Doxxing Attacks Wrongly Target Nonowners Across America Two days later, Trump slammed Springsteen in a Truth Social post, stating, "I see that Highly Overrated Bruce Springsteen goes to a Foreign Country to speak badly about the President of the United States. Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics and, importantly, he's not a talented guy — Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK, who fervently supported Crooked Joe Biden, a mentally incompetent FOOL, and our WORST EVER President, who came close to destroying our Country." The background for Morello's performance last weekend also included a giant "F--- Trump" sign surrounded by several other smaller ones featuring the same words. The background art also referred to Trump as "HATER IN CHIEF." There was also an image that appeared to have Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin's faces morphed together into one person. During his set, Morello introduced his cover of Woody Guthrie's song "This Land Is Your Land" with an anti-authoritarian, anti-billionaire message seemingly aimed at the commander-in-chief. Woody Guthrie knew that music could be… an uplifting, unifying, transcendent thing; a defensive shield, and a weapon for change. Authoritarians and billionaires think this country belongs to them. Woody Guthrie knew that this land is yours," he said. Neil Young's Latest Single Uses F-Word for Tesla, Critiques Detroit Big Three
Neil Young, like many rockstars, is a gearhead. His book, 'Special Deluxe,' was an autobiographical look back at the 79-year-old folk rocker's life through his cars. At an age when many of his peers are slowing down, Young can still be spotted out and about cruising in his custom cars, such as his 'LincVolt' restomodded 1959 Lincoln Continental. He's also, not surprisingly, penned at least a half-dozen songs about cars. His latest, 'Lets Roll Again,' shows just how much Young is keeping up with the auto industry, and calls out GM, Ford, Stellantis, and Tesla in the wake of increased Chinese competition. Written to the tune of Woody Guthrie's 'This Land Is Your Land,' 'Let's Roll Again' starts out with shots fired at the Detroit Three. 'Come on Ford, c'mon GM, come on Chrysler, let's roll again,' the song starts, before continuing, 'Build something useful that people need, build us a safe way for us to be. Build us something that won't kill our kids, that runs real clean.' Young, who is a proponent of cleaner electrified cars, then spends a later verse detailing his wishlist for future product from Ford and GM, singing, 'Build us some small vans for city streets, and spend a clean day delivering. Don't want no loud sounds coming from the back, spewing a buncha poison—it's not a racetrack…' The song's chorus' discusses a story MotorTrend has been paying particularly close attention to: increased competition from China in the form of the country's electric cars. 'On down the highway from place to place, come on America let's get in the race. Now China's way ahead, they're building clean cars. Some days are like that, it doesn't matter. Some days are like that, so taste your freedom,' he sings. Young's final verse calls out Tesla and its CEO Elon Musk, the latter of which has been in the news lately for his outsized role in the Trump administration, singing 'If you're a fascist, then get a Tesla. If it's electric it doesn't matter. If you're a democrat than taste your freedom. Get whatever you want and taste your freedom.' You can listen to the song yourself below:

Neil Young's Elon Musk-bashing track is now available to stream
Neil Young has released a studio version of his new politically charged tune 'Lets Roll Again,' announcing a new album that may feature similarly scathing tracks. The Grammy-winning musician debuted the tune last week at a benefit concert in Los Angeles, drawing attention for jabbing at Tesla founder Elon Musk with the line, 'If you're a fascist, get a Tesla/ It's electric, it doesn't matter.' The track, released Friday, May 2, marks Young's second officially released song with his new band the Chrome Hearts. Their first album together, the 10-track project 'Talkin to the Trees,' is due out June 13. A re-write of Woody Guthrie's 'This Land Is Your Land,' 'Lets Roll Again' also targets the American automotive industry, pleading with companies such as Ford and Chrysler to return to responsible manufacturing methods. Young, a former San Mateo County resident, has long voiced his political beliefs and has championed sustainable automotive technology for years. He launched Linc Volt Technology to promote retrofitting gas-powered vehicles with clean energy alternatives in 2008 and showed off a 1959 Lincoln Continental converted to run on electric batteries and a biodiesel generator at San Francisco's Dreamforce conference that same year. He has also adapted a Mercedes-Benz and a Hummer to run on used vegetable oil. After the album's launch, Young and the Chrome Hearts are set to hit the road for their ' Love Earth ' world tour, with plans to stop at Mountain View's Shoreline Amphitheatre on Sept. 12. Though he holds dual Canadian American citizenship, Young has been vocal about his concerns about reentering the country for his U.S. shows given the current political climate. 'When I go to play music in Europe, if I talk about Donald J. Trump, I may be one of those returning to America who is barred or put in jail to sleep on a cement floor with an aluminium blanket,' he wrote on his website last month. 'That's right folks, if you say anything bad about Trump or his administration, you may be barred from re-entering USA.' His wife, actress Darryl Hannah, noted that Trump's first administration 'tried every trick in the book' to prevent him from obtaining his American citizenship, but said that she thinks he's safe for now. She and Young just released a new black-and-white concert film called ' Neil Young: Coastal,' which was directed by Hannah and hit theaters April 1.

Thousands protest Trump administration, Elon Musk in Boston
Related : 'It's time for everybody to get up from the kitchen table and say 'Hands off,'' she said. 'Hands off our government, hands off our constitution.' Advertisement Demonstrators waved signs and chanted during 'Hands Off,' an anti-Trump/Musk rally. Craig F. Walker/Globe Staff A growing momentum of anti-Trump and anti-Musk sentiment spurred Saturday's protest, making Boston's turnout the largest in the city since Trump's inauguration in January. Unlike Trump's first term when public outcry hit a fever pitch, protests this time around have been fewer, smaller, and calmer — until recently. On Saturday, over 10,000 people, amid American, Ukrainian, and trans pride flags, flowed from Boston Common to City Hall Plaza. The sound of drums echoed through the air. Despite chilly April temperatures, more than 10,000 people attended the rally with many coming from places outside the city. They flocked from Framingham, Franklin, Gloucester, Plymouth, and beyond, with homemade signs and umbrellas, prepared for a rainy afternoon. Advertisement Asked what brought her out, Laurie Irwin shouted, 'Outrage.' 'Who is going to work if everybody is fired from the government?' Irwin asked. Related : The attendees were students and teachers, union leaders and laborers, first-time protesters and veteran marchers. At least one person was costumed as George Washington, another was recovering from recent knee surgery. They brought their youngsters in backpacks and strollers. Some brought their pets. 'Tax the rich,' they chanted. Reminiscent of the protest era of the 1960s, the sound of musicians strumming the folk anthem, 'This Land Is Your Land,' wafted through the air. Dave Creme and Courtney Hachey, of Waltham, came with their two children ― Rory, 9 and Teagan, 7. Creme held Teagan on his shoulders, who held a sign that said, 'Fund our schools so I can learn.' Teagan had made the sign at home. Demonstrators gathered at Market Square in Portsmouth, N.H., on Saturday. Steven Porter 'There is so much going on that you can feel helpless,' said Hachey, who works with children with autism. 'It was also an opportunity for my children to learn to speak not just for themselves, but for others.' Labor organizations turned out in force. Leaders from the Massachusetts American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations, and American Federation of Teachers Massachusetts took the stage. 'I'm here to say an immigrant is not the one taking jobs from people, a billionaire is,' said Chrissy Lynch, president of Massachusetts AFL-CIO. Beth Lev, an organizer for the Massachusetts 'Hands Off' rally, said this was one of thousands of demonstrations happening in all 50 states and six countries, Canada, Mexico, England, France, Germany, and Portugal. Saturday was predicted to be the largest single day of protest since Trump took office. The biggest rally was expected to happen on Washington's National Mall. Trump was not scheduled in the nation's capitol but rather at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Fla. Advertisement Massachusetts Senator Edward J. Markey joined in the march down Tremont Street. 'I believe it's the people who lead, it's the people who tell Washington what's [happening],' the senator said. At City Hall Plaza, Markey was the first of several official speakers. The finale, an acoustic set from Boston's beloved Irish punk band, the Dropkick Murphy's, came amid a downpour. Ken Casey and Dropkick Murphys energized demonstrators during 'Hands Off,' an anti-Trump/Musk, rally at City Hall Plaza. Craig F. Walker/Globe Staff Markey was greeted with energetic applause, whistles and chants of 'Markey!' 'This is the energy we need and Boston is going to ignite that energy across the nation,' Markey said. 'We aren't going to take it anymore.' Markey also urged the crowd to come together to accomplish three essential things: block Trump in the courts, get out and vote, and ' stand up like Senator Cory Booker.' Boston Mayor Michelle Wu was emphatic in her denunciation of the Trump administration. She led the crowd in a 'Hands off Boston' chant. 'This is about the world we want our children to grow up in,' Wu said. 'This is our city and you will never break us.' Boston mayoral hopeful Josh Kraft also joined the downtown march. 'I'm out here with all these people standing up to Donald Trump, the Trump administration, Elon Musk, DOGE,' Kraft told the Globe. In Providence, about 8,000 people marched from Hope High School to Kennedy Plaza in downtown. Wearing a hot pink pussy hat, Joyce Ward, denounced a proposed $510 million in funding cuts to Brown University as 'ill-advised' and 'retribution.' Related : 'He's saying he's going after these colleges because of antisemitism. It's not true. It's just more gangster government,' said Ward, 71, of Providence. Advertisement Rhode Island state Representative Karen Alzate, who 'The economy is for us. And we're here to tell this administration that you will not continue to tax our money to use it for your game,' Alzate said. 'You will not continue to deport my family, my friends, my neighbors.' In Portsmouth, N.H., Paul L. Gilbert protested outside of a Tesla dealership showroom. His handheld sign said, 'I didn't vote for Musk!' 'Only Congress can dictate where funds are spent and not spent, and he's overridden that,' Gilbert said, as passing motorists on US Route 1 honked their horns in support. 'It's just frustrating that the Republicans don't seem to be challenging that.' Undeterred by rain in Concord, N.H., Heidi Preuss, a 64-year-old retiree, brought her 8-year-old Great Dane, Leila, along for the protest. Both sported homemade signs. Preuss said she's stressed out about the current state of the nation, from drops in the stock market to Trump's immigration policies. 'Disappearing people off the street is just insane,' she said. 'It is absolutely the most un-American thing. It's the things that make us American that are being attacked.' Retired veteran and first-time protester, Ken Cowan, of Wilmot, N.H., said, 'I didn't fight for our country for this.' Cowan, 67, called Trump's presidency 'a coup in progress.' 'I think if we can all stand up and voice our opinions, he can't take over this country,' Cowan added. Advertisement Tonya Alanez can be reached at
