MacBook Got NO Ports? This USB Hub Guide Will Save You!

Mac users often face challenges with limited or inconvenient port options, making USB hubs and docks essential tools for improving connectivity and functionality. The video below from Kyle Erickson explores the landscape of USB hubs, categorizing them into three tiers—affordable, mid-range, and premium—based on price, performance, and features. It also provide more insights into advancements in USB and Thunderbolt technology, offering practical advice to help you select the best hub for your needs. Watch this video on YouTube. Why USB Hubs Are Essential for Mac Users Mac devices are renowned for their sleek design and high performance, but their minimalist approach often results in limited port availability. This can create obstacles when connecting multiple peripherals, external displays, or storage devices. Additionally, compatibility issues, outdated specifications, and the need for multiple adapters can complicate workflows. USB hubs and docks address these challenges by expanding port options and enhancing functionality, making them indispensable for many Mac users. For instance, if you frequently connect external drives, monitors, or accessories, a USB hub can streamline your setup by consolidating multiple connections into a single, efficient solution. This not only improves productivity but also reduces the clutter of cables and adapters. Exploring USB Hub Tiers USB hubs are available in three distinct tiers, each designed to cater to specific user needs and budgets. Understanding these tiers can help you make an informed choice: Affordable Tier ($10–$30): These hubs are ideal for basic tasks such as file transfers or connecting external drives. Look for USB 3.0 or higher to ensure faster speeds (5–10 Gbps) and avoid outdated USB 2.0 models. A good example is the UG Green Revo hub, which offers 100W power delivery, 4K HDMI at 60Hz, and a durable aluminum build, making it a reliable entry-level option. Apple lovers can snap up powerful MacBook Pro for only £165 in fast-selling deal

Normally retailing for over £1,599 for a brand new model, fans are able to snag up a high range laptop for a bargain online. When looking for a new laptop, one of the first devices on many people's lists will be the MacBook Pro. Known for being one of the most powerful laptops created by Apple, this device is great for people in creative fields or for people who work remotely from home. With current prices for the newest models starting at an eye watering £1,599, shoppers who are looking for a bargain may be more inclined to purchase a refurbished version from a few years ago in order to get a cheaper model. At the moment, Wowcher is selling a MacBook Pro with an i5 processor for only £165. While this device may not be as up-to-date as the newest models, this laptop will be perfect for people on a budget who need a device to browse the internet and store their work. This deal provides shoppers with a MacBook Pro that is equipped with a 2.5GHx i5 processor that is powerful enough to tackle everyday tasks, reports Manchester Evening News. While a tablet may be able to do the same, a laptop is designed to be more durable and comes with a larger screen and keyboard to help easily complete tasks. This Macbook also comes with 256GB of storage, along with 4GB of RAM. While running multiple complicated tasks at once may be difficult, this laptop has plenty of space to store your documents and photos while also being able to work through some basic tasks. Additionally, this laptop is also compatible with the MagSafe charger for added convenience, as well as having a comprehensive set of ports - including a few USB 3s, Thunderbolt, and a full-sized SD card slot. It should be highlighted that Wowcher is selling these laptops as refurbished items, meaning that someone had previously owned the device. However, professionals have been tasked with restoring them so the only difference when they come out of the box is potentially some signs of cosmetic use. Out of the newest Macbooks to hit the market, the cheapest version is the Apple 2025 MacBook Air. Amazon has cut the price down to £899 (RRP £999) and the 13-inch laptop features the M4 chip and uses Apple Intelligence to make multitasking easier. Shoppers looking for a Pro edition, Argos is selling the Apple MacBook Pro 2024 for their lowest price of £1,499. Also boasting the M4 chip, this laptop is said to have a battery life of up to 24 hours and features a breathtaking Liquid Retina XDR display. And for those looking away from Apple, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 Laptop is currently 25 per cent off on Amazon. Powered by 12th Gen Intel Core i5 processors and with 512GB of storage, it can be snapped up for £449.99, down from £599.99. For shoppers interested in the refurbished MacBook Pro, Wowcher sells the laptops via Orion Computers, which currently had a 4.3 star rating on Trustpilot. And they are selling fast, with over 1,700 people snapping up the deal. One user posted on Trustpilot: "Purchased a refurbed MacBook Pro, minor issue with the screen, customer services sent a returns label promptly and replaced the machine within 5 days. Great value, will recommend." Another reviewer added: "Ordered a refurbed Chromebook. Honestly I wasn't expecting the very high quality I received! Amazing value for money and ready to start up. I cannot see where any repairs have been done it is that good!" A third reviewer wrote: "Superb product and service. Both laptops look like new and are in excellent condition. Great packaging ensured safe arrival. Very pleased and will definitely use again." However, not everyone was pleased after their experience with the company. One said: "It's a real shame.. I brought a Lenovo chrome book from Wowcher. Arrived in great condition worked fantastic. Only had it since October. All of a sudden it stopped working. I turn it on and all I have is a black screen." Despite this, another happy customer wrote: "Superb product and service. Both laptops look like new and are in excellent condition. Great packaging ensured safe arrival. Very pleased and will definitely use again." For those wanting to buy a refurbished MacBook Pro with a i5 processor, click HERE. Did the MCU THUNDERBOLTS* Hide an Original Comics Member in Plain Sight?

The original Thunderbolts comic book from Marvel had a very different premise, and team roster, than the MCU Thunderbolts* film. In Kurt Busiek and Mark Bagley's original series, the first issue ended with the surprise reveal that this new team of heroes, who appear after the Avengers vanished, were all villains in disguise. Thunderbolts* preserves this last-minute surprise ending, with the team revealed as the New Avengers. Yes, the Thunderbolts in the MCU have ties to later rosters from the comics. But not one original member from the comics made it into the movie lineup. Except, maybe one cast member was a stealth OG Thunderbolt all along. Is the heroine Songbird secretly in Thunderbolts*? This theory comes from the folks at Collider. They believe that Valentina's personal assistant Mel (Geraldine Viswanathan), who later (sort of) betrays her evil boss and helps Bucky Barnes, is secretly the heroine Songbird. They believe her name 'Mel' is short for Melissa, as in Melissa Gold, Songbird's real name. In addition, she wears a silver necklace with the image of a bird on it. Coincidence? We think not. Originally, in the comics, Songbird had enhancements that let her form soundwaves into solid constructs, like wings. She first went by the name Screaming Mimi, and was a Captain America villain. As a Thunderbolt, she changed her name to Songbird. Although the original plan for the Thunderbolts was to disguise themselves as heroes to more easily conquer the world, Songbird actually liked being a superhero. This is similar to how Mel was uncomfortable with Valentina's evil deeds, and went to Bucky for help. We never see Mel display powers of any kind in Thunderbolts*, much less take on a codename. But that doesn't mean she won't in a future project. And actress Geraldine Viswanathan seems to know more than she's letting on. When asked about the Songbird theory, she said 'I really can't say, or else I'll be sniped, but all I can say is that… Hey! I would love to. I'm available, and this experience has been such a dream, and I would love to do it again, if I could.' Although not formally announced for the Avengers: Doomsday cast, it wouldn't be shocking if Viswanathan shows up as a New Avenger named Songbird in that film. Like the comics, she's already a 'villain' who decided to become a hero. Well, sort of. Now all she needs is a plot device to give her sonic powers. Maybe she volunteers for some high-tech augmentations like Bob/The Sentry did? All we know that we'd love it if next time we see her, she has pink and white hair and giant sound wings.
