‘Casanova killer' executed three decades later
The man who was dubbed the 'Casanova Killer' was executed on after Florida Govenor Ron DeSantis signed his death warrant last month, nearly three decades after the crimes. The Florida Department of Corrections announced that Glen Rogers, 62, was executed by lethal injection, Fox New Digital reported. Fox News Digital reached out to the department for comment, but did not immediately receive a response. Rogers, 62, a self-proclaimed serial killer who once told a law enforcement official he had killed 70 women, will be put to death on Thursday by lethal injection. Rogers was dubbed the 'Casanova Killer' because he had a habit of meeting women in local bars, charming them and getting them into his car before attacking. Here is a timeline of Rogers' murder spree: Rogers sentenced for 1994 death of Tina Marie Cribbs A jury sentenced Rogers to death back in 1997 after convicting him of first-degree murder, armed robbery and grand theft of a motor vehicle following the death of 34-year-old Tina Marie Cribbs, People reported. Rogers attempted to overturn his guilty verdict three times, but was unsuccessful. According to a motion filed by the prosecution, Rogers met Cribbs at a bar in Tampa and convinced her to drive him home. She told her friends she would return in 15 minutes, but never returned. Cribbs, a mother of two, failed to meet her mum that evening or show up for work the next morning, according to the motion obtained by People. Her lifeless body was discovered a few days later in a Tampa motel room rented by Rogers, according to the motion. 'Cribbs was found lying on her back in the bathtub. She was clothed, wearing a damp T-shirt, underwear, and socks. On the bathroom floor, authorities found a damp pile of clothes and bloodstained towels,' the motion reads. Authorities noted Cribbs had been stabbed to death, but that there was evidence of defensive wounds, the motion reads. They also noted that a ring and watch belonging to Cribbs were missing, along with her car, which Rogers was driving a week later when he was arrested in Kentucky, according to the motion. Rogers received second death sentence for 1999 murder of Sandra Gallagher Rogers received another death sentence in California in 1999 for the murder of Sandra Gallagher. According to The Associated Press, he met her at a Van Nuys bar in September 1995 and a day later, her badly burned corpse was found in her truck near Rogers' apartment. 'He's an animal,' one of his victim's sisters said in court before Rogers was sentenced to death, according to an archived report from the Associated Press. 'He's about the evilest thing I think I've ever imagined.' Rogers claims to have killed 70 women; brother claims Rogers also killed Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman While in custody, Rogers also claimed to be responsible for the murder of 70 women. Then, years later, his brother said Rogers claimed to be responsible for the 1994 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, according to a 2012 documentary. A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department dismissed that claim and was confident someone else was responsible for their deaths, The Associated Press reported. DeSantis signs death warrant on April 16, 2025, after Rogers lost three previous appeals in Florida On April 16, DeSantis signed a death warrant for Rogers, who has also been suspected in other homicides across the country. He is suspected of killing at least five people in five different states, including Florida, California, Ohio, Mississippi and Louisiana. Rogers' attorneys argued he was abused as a child, and that those memories were only unlocked well after he was sentenced, FOX 13 reported. According to the outlet, Rogers' death now marks the fifth execution in Florida so far this year.

Convicted serial killer executed in Florida
A 62-year-old man known as the 'Cross-Country Killer' was executed by lethal injection in the southern US state of Florida on Thursday. Glen Rogers was put to death at 6:16 p.m. (2216 GMT) at the Florida State Prison in Raiford for the November 1995 murder of Tina Marie Cribbs and other murders. Cribbs, a 34-year-old mother of two children, was stabbed to death and her body was found in a hotel bathtub. Rogers was also convicted of the murder in that same year of Sandra Gallagher, 33, in California and was a suspect in the murders of at least two other women, one in Mississippi and another in Louisiana. There have now been 16 executions in the United States this year: 12 by lethal injection, two by firing squad, and two using nitrogen gas. The death penalty has been abolished in 23 of the 50 US states, while three others—California, Oregon, and Pennsylvania—have moratoriums in place. President Donald Trump is a proponent of capital punishment and, on his first day in office, called for an expansion of its use 'for the vilest crimes.'

Fox - 13 News Florida has executed a man known as the "Casanova Killer" for his good looks and ability to charm women just before murdering them. Glen Edward Rogers, 62, was executed Thursday by lethal injection for the murder of Tina Marie Cribbs, one of four single mothers in their 30s with reddish hair who fell victim to the Casanova Killer. Rogers was also known as the "Cross Country Killer" because the victims all lived in different states: California, Mississippi, Louisiana and Florida. "He's an animal," one of his victim's sisters said in court before Rogers was sentenced to death, according to an archived report from the Associated Press. "He's about the evilest thing I think I've ever imagined." Soon after his arrest, Rogers claimed to have killed Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman in Los Angeles in June 1994, and about 70 people overall. There was no evidence to back that up. Rogers − a native of Hamilton, Ohio − was pronounced dead at 6:16 p.m., becoming the 16th inmate executed in the U.S. this year and the fifth in Florida. Another three men are set to be executed in the U.S. next week, in Texas, Indiana and Tennessee. Here's what to know about Rogers' execution, including who his victims were. Who were the Casanova Killer's victims? Authorities connected five victims to the Casanova Killer. Four of them were mothers with reddish hair in their 30s. Three of the murders happened within a six-day period. Mark Peters , a 72-year-old retired electrician in Hamilton, Ohio, with whom Rogers lived with briefly, was found dead in a shack owned by Rogers' family in January 1994 in Beattyville, Kentucky. Andy Lou Jiles Sutton, a 37-year-old mother of four: three sons and a daughter who were 19, 17, 8, and 6 when she was found stabbed to death in her bed on Nov. 9, 1995 in of Bossier City, Louisiana. Sutton and Rogers met before her murder and are believed to have slept together. Who was Glen Rogers? Growing up, Rogers' childhood was deprived of love, moral guidance or family values, and he frequently witnessed his alcoholic father beat his mother, according to court records. Rogers started using controlled substances at a young age and began committing burglaries, eventually becoming a chronic alcohol abuser, court records said. As an adult, he held a slew of jobs, from a school bus driver in his native Hamilton, Ohio, to a carnival worker in Mississippi. Since his arrest at the age of 33, he spent most of the past three decades on death row. He was 62 at the time of his execution. What do the victims' families say? Randy Roberson, who was 17 when his mother Andy Lou Jiles Sutton was murdered, planned to attend Thursday's execution with his wife. Roberson remembered Sutton as a fun mom always ready to play a game and who greeted her kids off the school bus with fresh grilled cheese sandwiches. Today, she would have been a grandmother to 11 and a great-grandmother to two. Amy Roberson told USA TODAY that her husband was looking for closure he never got, partially because Rogers was never tried in Louisiana. "He just wants to see him take his last breath," she said the day before the execution. "He wants to try to fill this void that he's had all these years and just know that he's no longer alive and being fed three meals a day and getting to live a life." Mary Dicke, the 84-year-old mother of victim Tina Marie Cribbs, beat brain cancer and lung cancer, fighting to survive so she could witness the day Rogers would be executed. "God is on my side. I hope he will remain on my side until I do see this done," Dicke told WTVT-TV in Tampa in 2016, saying she made a vow to live to see Rogers die. Jerri Vallicella, whose sister Sandra Gallagher was murdered by Rogers, said she has long been ready for the execution. "It's been 30 years of nightmares, and I'm ready for this to be over." More: A handsome stranger with piercing blue eyes asked them for rides. Then he killed them. What have Glen Rogers' attorneys been arguing? Rogers' attorneys have been arguing that a medical condition that affects his liver could interact with one of the lethal injection drugs in such a way that it would cause him "substantial risk of needless pain and suffering." The Florida Supreme Court rejected that argument, as did the U.S. Supreme Court, clearing the way for the execution. His attorneys declined to comment for this story. Florida executes suspected serial killer once eyed for possible link to the OJ Simpson case
STARKE, Fla. — A suspected serial killer once scrutinized for a possible link to the O.J. Simpson case that riveted the nation in the 1990s was executed Thursday in Florida for the murder of a woman found dead in a Tampa motel room. Glen Rogers, 62, received a lethal injection at Florida State Prison near Starke and was pronounced dead at 6:16 p.m., authorities said. He was convicted in Florida of the 1995 murder of Tina Marie Cribbs, a 34-year-old mother of two he had met at a bar. He also had drawn a separate death sentence in California for the 1995 strangulation killing of Sandra Gallagher, a mother of three whom he had met at a bar in Van Nuys in that state. That killing came weeks before the Cribbs murder. Rogers was stopped after a highway chase in Kentucky while driving Cribbs' car soon after her death. Rogers was named as a suspect but never convicted in several other slayings around the country, once telling police he had killed about 70 people. He later recanted that statement, but had been the subject of documentaries including one from 2012 called 'My Brother the Serial Killer' that featured his brother Clay and a criminal profiler who had corresponded extensively with Rogers. The documentary raised questions about whether Rogers could have been responsible for the 1994 stabbing deaths of Simpson's ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. During a 1995 murder trial that drew intense media attention, the former football star and celebrity Simpson was acquitted of all charges. Los Angeles police and prosecutors subsequently said after the documentary's release that they didn't think Rogers had any involvement in the Simpson and Goldman killings. 'We know who killed Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. We have no reason to believe that Mr. Rogers was involved,' the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement at the time. Simpson had always professed innocence but was later found liable for the deaths in a separate civil case, and subsequently served nine years in prison on unrelated charges. The 76-year-old Simpson died in April 2024 after battling cancer. Rogers, originally from Hamilton, Ohio, had also been labeled the 'Casanova Killer' or 'Cross Country Killer' in various media reports. Some of his alleged and proven female victims had similar characteristics: ages in their 30s, a petite frame and red hair. Hours before his execution, Rogers awoke at 3:45 a.m. and later received one visitor, said Department of Corrections spokesman Ted Veerman. He said Rogers had a meal of pizza, chocolate and soda. The U.S. Supreme Court denied Rogers' final appeals on Wednesday without comment. Rogers' lawyers have filed several appeals with state and federal courts, none successful. One argument was that newly enacted state legislation authorizing the death penalty for trafficking in young children makes clear that the abuse he suffered as a child is now taken seriously and should result in a life prison sentence for Rogers. That argument was rejected. Florida uses a three-drug cocktail for its lethal injection: a sedative, a paralytic and a drug that stops the heart, according to the Corrections Department. Rogers became the fifth inmate put to death in Florida this year . Anthony Wainwright is the next Florida inmate scheduled for execution — on June 10 — under a death warrant signed by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis. Wainwright, 54, was convicted of kidnapping a woman from a supermarket parking lot in Lake City in 1994 and raping and killing her.

Florida to execute murderer once scrutinized in OJ Simpson case
A suspected serial killer once scrutinized for a possible link to the OJ Simpson case that riveted the nation in the mid-1990s is scheduled to be executed Thursday in Florida for the murder of a woman in a Tampa motel room. Glen Rogers, 62, is set to receive a lethal injection at Florida state prison near Starke, barring a last-day reprieve. He was convicted in Florida of the 1995 murder of Tina Marie Cribbs, a 34-year-old mother of two he had met at a bar. The US supreme court denied Rogers' final appeals on Wednesday without comment. Rogers would be the fifth inmate put to death in Florida this year. As of 1 May, 15 people have been executed this year in the US in eight states, according to the Death Penalty Information Center's website. That compares with 25 people in all of 2024, the center reported. He also drew a separate death sentence in California for the 1995 strangulation killing of Sandra Gallagher, a mother of three whom he had met at a bar in Van Nuys in that state.
