Family Opposition and Passion for Filmmaking Though Inder Raj Anand was a prominent writer in the film world, he opposed his son Tinnu Anand's desire to join the industry. Driven by his passion for filmmaking and a strong ambition to direct, Tinnu challenged his father's wishes. Distressed by this, Inder Raj Anand decided to enroll him at the Satyajit Ray School, hoping to divert his path. Choosing Satyajit Ray Over Raj Kapoor and Fellini In an interview with Rediff, Tinnu shared the reasons behind his decision to train under Satyajit Ray. He explained that although he had the opportunity to work with Raj Kapoor, who was a family friend and had collaborated with his father on several scripts, he felt that connection was too close for comfort. Another option was the renowned Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini, which appealed to him because it offered a chance to go to Italy. However, Fellini insisted that Tinnu learn Italian first, a commitment of six months that he wasn't willing to make. Consequently, he chose to study with Ray instead. The 'Dirty Job': Offering Rs 5,000 to Amitabh Bachchan During the same conversation, Tinnu shared how he was tasked with the 'dirty job' of offering Amitabh a fee of Rs 5,000 for his role in Khwaja Ahmad Abbas' film 'Saat Hindustani'. He explained that actress Neena Singh had recommended Amitabh for the part, but Abbas insisted that Amitabh cover his own expenses to come to Mumbai for auditions. Reflecting on the moment, Tinnu recalled, 'I was the one who took him to Abbas Saab's office. In the evening, I was given the dirty job of offering Amitabh Rs 5,000 for the entire film, whether it took one year or five to make." Career Growth and On-Set Challenges Following his role in 'Saat Hindustani', Tinnu acted in several films before making a name for himself as a director with movies such as 'Kaalia' and 'Shahenshah'. During the production of his third collaboration with Bachchan, 'Shanakht', Tinnu faced a tense confrontation with Madhuri Dixit when she declined to perform a daring scene opposite Bachchan. Personal Life On the personal front, Tinnu is married to Shahnaz, who is the daughter of the well-known veteran actor Agha.

So it is a very important situation and I want to shoot it on the first day. She said okay.' 'I said you can design your bra, whatever you want. You don't have to wear a bra bra but you can design your own bra, I don't mind. But it has to be a bra because you are opening your blouse, offering yourself,' Anand added. On the day of shoot, Madhuri backed out, leaving Tinnu furious. When asked what happened, she stated, ' I don't want to do this particular scene.' I said, 'I'm sorry, you have to do this scene.' She said, 'No, I don't want to.' I said, 'Okay, pack up, say good bye to the film. I'll cancel my shoot.' Amitabh Bachchan, who was playing lead role in the film, intervened to play the role of a peacemaker as Madhuri was asked to pack her bags and leave. In Tinnu's words, Big B said, 'Let it be, why are you arguing with her? If she has an objection ' I said, 'If she had to object, she should have done it earlier, before signing the film. Watch In the WhatsApp message, which has now surfaced on social media and is catching everyone's attention, he allegedly threatened to attack stray dogs near his residence with a hockey stick. He went on to warn animal lovers to take the dogs home or deal with the consequences. Tinnu's message sparked widespread outrage among animal rights activists, locals, and social media users, who heavily criticised his tone. Aanchal Chaddha, a resident of the same society, took action by filing a complaint at the Versova Police Station, prompting the police to intervene in the matter. The message read, 'Have come back after a horrifying shoot to be greeted by terrifying dogs barking and not knowing who to bite next… Challenge taken. Have a hockey stick to face them… am warning all dog lovers hereon… take them home OR then face my wrath… my society is given advance notice'. The message triggered massive backlash from social media users. Actor Shweta Gulati also commented on the post, writing, "Had such massive respect for this man, which is lost today. What a fool. Let's pray he gets beaten soon'. Karishma Tanna shared, 'To all those animal haters n supporting this veteran actor. It's heartbreaking and shameful to see people supporting violence against innocent dogs — and even worse, threatening to harm them. This isn't just inhuman, it's a complete failure of empathy. Animals can't speak, but we can — and we must. If you find joy in hurting or hating those who only know love and loyalty, it says more about your darkness than theirs'. According to The Free Press Journal, Mumbai Police officer and senior animal rights activist Sudhir Kudalkar said that the police have asked the actor to issue an apology letter. The Dabangg actor reacted to the hate coming his way while talking to The Free Press Journal. He said, 'This is absolutely what I meant because my daughter has broken her wrist and she's been treated since the last one month and it cost me ₹90,000 for her being operated twice now. Her pet dog was attacked by 3 stray dogs in our society and in trying to save her dog she fell and broke her wrist. I want to talk to these dog lovers. If they doubt these dogs so much they feed them, they look after them, then why not put a leash on them? Ask the convenience store near the society- his delivery man has been attacked twice and now they have stopped delivering because they don't want to be attacked by the dogs". Tinnu added, 'I'm 80 years old and if any dog attacks me, I have every right to defend myself. That is what I meant. That is what these people should have understood anyway. Everyone's got diuretic fingers, you know, moving towards the mobiles, typing away messages, which is fine with me because I'm ignoring it completely because I know what I have written. This is not the first case where dogs have attacked. There's so many cases when these incidents have happened. It's not to attack dogs, it's just to defend myself and I have every right to'.
