'Dundee recruitment scramble can't happen again'
Dundee must work hard to avoid a repeat of this summer's "scramble" to find players, says head coach Steven number of established players to leave Dens Park since the end of last season is into double figures, while eight new faces have who replaced Tony Docherty at the start of June, wants another five."This can't happen again for us as a club," he said. "Moving forward, we have to have a better process around this."We don't want to be in a position where every season where we are scrambling trying to find the players. We have got to be in a position where there is much more stability around the squad."It is difficult to create that but we are trying. We have given out several two-to-three-year deals."I know everybody wants success now, but this is a big, big job and a real challenge and we have to get this part right." Dundee lost their Premiership opener at home to Hibs on Sunday and failed to progress from their League Cup group, with Pressley describing the number of contracts expiring, along with loans last term as a "perfect storm", with "nobody to blame".A shaky start to his first managerial appointment in six years has brought flak from the stands and pundits but Pressley insists: "I don't listen to the outside noise."The 51-year-old, who takes his side to Ibrox on Saturday, explained: "During my pro licence, [Dundee technical director] Gordon [Strachan] talked about living in your own little bubble as a head coach."I took that on board and I have never looked at social media, I never read any newspapers, nothing like that, because we are all vulnerable."Everybody wants to be liked, everybody wants to hear 'yes, he's the greatest manager in the world' but you have to accept that that is not always going to be the case."Fans turn up every Saturday no matter what the club, expecting their team to win, but when you are at a club like Dundee it is harder to win than at a club like Rangers so we have to expect more criticism at times. That is the reality of the job."

'Don't need fireworks just three points'
We asked for your views on Hibs' 2-1 win against what some of you said: Gareth: Don't need fireworks on day one, just three points. Well done Hibs and Sir David Great to see Hibs hit the ground running. We could easily have scored four or five against a poor Dundee. Hopefully we can push on and get points on the board early. Very happy with the direction the club is Comfortable win, against a very poor Dundee team. Not sure it would have been that easy against Tony Docherty's Dundee. Three points, onwards and Glad they won but up against a better team I think we would have struggled. Although they had a hard game only days Good win considering we went to extra-time on Thursday S: Hibs did just enough to see out the game with Thursday's game in mind. In my opinion we were never in danger of losing this game and with better finishing could have scored more.

Premiership opener marks 'fresh start' for Pressley
Former Dundee striker Rory Loy says the board's shock sacking of Tony Docherty put an "unnecessary amount of pressure" on successor Steven Pressley, who is now striving to overcome a rocky side were knocked out of the League Cup group stage after losing two of their four matches. They open their Premiership campaign on Sunday at home to Hibs - who were beaten in extra time by Midtjylland in Europa League qualifying on Thursday night - and Loy sees it as a fresh start for the new manager. "I think Sunday presents a completely clean slate for Pressley and Dundee," he told the BBC's Scottish Football Podcast."I do understand it's been a poor start but it's now the start of the league campaign. The only winners out of last night's Hibs tie, given that Hibs went out and went to extra time, were Dundee. "So Presley will be looking at this going, 'Let's change the narrative, let's go and win on Sunday, beat the team that finished third last year, get the crowd up at home and approach the season in a positive frame of mind.'"It is going to take time but I also think the Dundee board, given their actions in sacking Doherty, and that's not Pressley's fault, have put an unnecessary amount of pressure on Pressley because the fans were so split and so frustrated."I think with the sacking it automatically puts more pressure on the new manager, which isn't fair on Presley. "But I think he'll see Sunday as a clean slate and a chance to go and start the season well."

Charlie Adam spills beans on Dundee job snub as he airs thoughts on Steven Pressley
The lifelong fan and former captain threw his hat in the ring to replace Tony Docherty but never heard back The call never came. But Charlie Adam insists he's ready to answer if opportunity knocks as he seeks a return to management. Adam threw his hat in the ring for the Dundee job over the summer after Tony Docherty's shock sacking. The lifelong fan and former captain had his heart set on taking over the reins at Dens Park. But the ex-Liverpool and Scotland star never heard back from his beloved club as the Dark Blues opted for Steven Pressley. He revealed: 'No, I had no discussions at all. I applied like probably a number of others and ultimately they've decided to go a different direction. "That's up to them and they make a decision on that. "But the club is there and I'll always support them and hopefully we can start getting the season up and running and start the season well because it was a tough end to the season. "Hopefully fresh ideas and something different, then Steven can get the team winning and build something this season.' Adam was axed less than a year into his first crack at management with Fleetwood Town. But that hasn't dented the former Rangers midfielder's desire to be his own man. Adam - who left Everton after a short stint as set-piece coach - said: 'I want to get back in, yeah, absolutely. "I had 50 games at Fleetwood and came out and then went into Everton for four months at the back end of the season and loved it. "But, yeah, I want to be a number one. I want to be a coach and that's my next route and path. "I'm open to anything. I'm open to coming to Scotland and looking at what the situations are. "I looked at a couple of jobs that became available in the summer. "But, again, you have to respect what the clubs are looking at and what they've done and that's the way football goes. But I'm always keeping an eye on Scottish football.' The left-field appointment of Pressley certainly caught Dundee fans by surprise. And the pressure is already on Elvis after the Dees were eliminated from the Premier Sports Cup. American owners John Nelms and Tim Keyes have come under fire from sections of the support but Adam is totally convinced the club are in the right hands. Speaking at the SPFL Season Kick-off Party, he said: 'I put full belief into what John and Tim and Gordon do as a supporter. I've been in the club so I know how hard it is and what they're trying to do. "They're trying to build the club, a new stadium, and a training ground. But, you know, I'm a supporter. I don't put any money in. "John and Tim put millions of pounds in and they have over the years. So they make the decision about what they feel is right for the football club. "And if they feel that's the right decision, then we have to make sure that everybody keeps backing it and supports them. "Hopefully the results can improve as the season goes on. But again, they have to get more players in. "They have to improve the players. We lost a couple of good players in the summer - young players that went to other clubs, which was difficult. "But it's all about recruitment. You get your recruitment good, then that will help you. "Steven now has to try and do that, do some business early and hopefully they'll get the team ready for the start of the season.' Dundee will defy the 'hysteria' & stay up
Where will Dundee finish in the league and why?Dundee have been clear in their ambition to get into the top six, hence why they parted ways with Tony Docherty after a 10th-place finish last season. We are still lacking half a dozen players to complete our squad so it is very difficult to make a prediction at the time of writing. What I will predict is 10th or higher. I think we will retain our Premiership status despite the social media hysteria around our fortunes. We have a good nucleus of players and I expect the two newly-promoted teams to be scrapping to dodge the is the best signing or has he not signed yet and who should it be?Tony Yogane from what we have signed so far looks the pick of the bunch - lively, direct, skilful and very composed on the ball. Steven Pressley worked with him at extensively at Brentford before securing his services on loan for the do you want from your manager this season? When he was asked what kind of philosophy he wanted to implement at Dundee, Pressley stressed he didn't want one particular playing style but rather a team that is adaptable and pragmatic. He said he wanted a team with plenty of dynamism that can perform in various styles. I want him to coach a team that can portray exactly that and to be much more defensively astute compared to last will be the breakout star in your squad?Billy Koumetio signed last season and on a physical basis he has all the right attributes to be a success. He is a strong runner, 6ft 5in, athletic, great in the air and very good with the ball at his feet. However, he lacked an in-game maturity and struggled to read passages of play. But I am backing him to improve his decision-making and blossom into a key player this season. Imari Samuels, our left-back, also looks like he's ready to be unleashed after racking up several assists in the League Cup. He had to play second fiddle to Ziyad Larkeche since arriving in January, but now the spot is his to lose. Samuels and Yogane on the left flank could prove to be a very formidable partnership - definitely one to is your one major concern? That we fail to replace departing key players like Lyall Cameron and Josh Mulligan with additions of equal impact. Luke McCowan and Amadou Bakayoko were never properly replaced and that was a huge setback for us last season, so naturally I am fearful of a repeat.
