'American Idol's Slater Nalley Reveals When We Could Next See Another Original Song (Exclusive)
Slater Nalley touched hearts when he auditioned for American Idol with an original song that he wrote about his high school teacher Ms. Davis's late son Carter, who was a source of inspiration for him. He followed that with a second original song for Arena performances, 'Foolish Pride." But due to theme nights like 'Rock & Roll Hall of Fame,' 'Iconic Idol Moments' and the upcoming 'Ladies Night,' it's been cover songs ever since. 'I did two original songs, and I have wanted to do one since. But at the end of the day, we have to go off what they send us,' Slater told Parade. He's looking at the upcoming Mother's Day show (May 11) as the next opportunity to do another original. It's not that he doesn't have a lot of original songs in his repertoire, but he says he has to 'feel it' to want to sing it. So let's hope that happens soon! In the meantime, he's thrilled that America is liking his music and voted him into the Top 10. 🎬 🎬 'You've got a lot of really talented people around here,' the 17-year-old from Atlanta, GA, says. 'Everybody's more talented than the next. I've never been in a situation where I can't tell who's the most talented, because everybody here is just equally talented, and it's going to be really hard for America to vote. But hearing that I got put into the Top 10, America's pick, was one of the coolest moments. I was really happy to hear the news that people are enjoying my music. At the end of the day, that's what I've always wanted.' Something else that Slater is enjoying, in addition to all the new friends he's made, is working with professionals like Jelly Roll, this season's artist-in-residence, and with the behind-the-scenes Idol vocal coaches, who have taught Slater new approaches to his music. 'They help me arrange songs in ways I never thought I could,' he says. ''Somewhere Over the Rainbow' was actually my arrangement. But I was really excited to see and hear that I can take a song, not just a textbook song, and I can move it around how I want it to be sounding.' Related: Slater is also doing that with the outfits that he dons to take the stage. Once he made it to the live rounds, he was given a budget to select his wardrobe. 'I am a Georgia boy through and through,' he says about his onstage style. 'I grew up going hunting and fishing and also going into the city a little bit and all that. So, being able to show my artistry has never really been something I've been able to confidently do, and now that I have this platform, I can show the style that I've wanted to do my whole life. Funny different boots and things that'll make me feel something special." Related: There's only three more weeks until the American Idol 2025 finale. And there's a good chance that Slater will be around most of that time, so he will have to live with his missing home until the end. 'I'm enjoying every minute of it, though,' he says. 'I'm so happy to be here. I'm happy to be able to share my music with everybody, and the response has been great from everybody, so it's been cool to see that.' American Idol airs Sunday and Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. Streams next day on Hulu. Next, Make Your Vote Count! How to Vote Online or By Text on 2025

What the billion-dollar Boston-based technology company said about its Indian-American CEO caught in prostitution scandal
Anurag Bajpayee Anurag Bajpayee , CEO and co-founder of Gradiant Technology , a billion-dollar water technology company, has been arrested in a high-profile US investigation involving high-end brothels allegedly linked to sex trafficking. The case has shocked both the tech industry and academic circles, given Bajpayee's credentials as an MIT-trained engineer and entrepreneur. The Indian-American technologist, engineer, and entrepreneur co-founded Gradiant in 2013, a global water technology company now valued at over $1 billion. What Gradiant Technology said on CEO Anurag Bajpayee's arrest The company has defended Anurag Bajpayee, while reiterating a muddled promise of excellence in public remarks amid controversy. Gradiant has asserted that it is placing trust in the judicial process — and its own company. 'We believe in the justice system and are confident that this will resolve favorably in due course,' said Gradiant representative Felix Wang in a statement to Wall Street Journal. 'Unrelated to this, Gradiant will continue to pursue excellence in technological innovation and to strive towards our mission to ensure clean water for all society.' Dozens of men, Bajpayee included, were named in court documents last month, accusing them all of paying hundreds of dollars per hour for sex and a 'girlfriend experience' with predominantly Asian women being exploited through sex trafficking, the Wall Street Journal reported. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Highest Earning College Majors—2025 Edition Best Paying Degrees | Search Ads Learn More Undo What are charge charges against Anurag Bajpayee According to U.S. federal prosecutors, the women involved were mostly Asian, and some may have been victims of trafficking and coercion. Qualys expands TotalAI to boost AI security from development onwards
Qualys has announced significant updates to its TotalAI platform, expanding AI and large language model (LLM) security coverage for organisations from development through to deployment. The enhancements are designed to address the rapid pace of AI adoption in business, which often outpaces the implementation of necessary security controls. Citing a recent study where 72% of CISOs expressed concerns that generative AI solutions could cause security breaches within their organisations, Qualys aims to provide tools to help bridge the gap between innovation and secure implementation. Summarising the need for integrated security in AI operations, Tyler Shields, Principal Analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group, said, "As AI becomes a core component of business innovation, security can no longer be an afterthought. Qualys TotalAI ensures that only trusted, vetted models are deployed into production, enabling both agility and assurance across organisations' AI usage." "This security helps organisations achieve their innovation goals while managing their risk." TotalAI has been updated to test models for jailbreak vulnerabilities, bias, sensitive information exposure, and critical risks mapped to standards such as the OWASP Top 10 for LLMs. The platform also supports enterprise teams in resolving exposures, protecting operational resilience, and maintaining brand trust. Among the new features is automatic prioritisation of AI security risks, with findings mapped to real-world adversarial tactics using MITRE ATLAS and prioritised by the TruRisk scoring engine. This allows teams across security, IT, and MLOps to focus on the most business-critical risks within their AI operations. The release also includes an on-premises internal LLM scanner to support security testing during development, staging, and deployment. This capability enables security and testing of AI-powered applications to be integrated into existing CI/CD workflows, ensuring that models remain protected behind corporate firewalls and are not exposed externally at any stage during their lifecycle. TotalAI's expanded threat coverage now includes detection of 40 distinct attack scenarios. These cover advanced jailbreak techniques, prompt injections, manipulations, multilingual exploits, and bias amplification. The platform simulates real-world adversarial tactics to increase model resilience against exploitation and better protect against attackers attempting to manipulate AI outputs or bypass model safeguards. Another area of focus is protection against cross-modal exploits, with enhanced multimodal detection identifying prompts or perturbations hidden inside images, audio, and video files that may be used to manipulate LLM outputs. This aims to address potential vulnerabilities introduced by the use of different data modalities in AI systems. Sumedh Thakar, President and CEO of Qualys, spoke about the increasing complexity and risk accompanying AI adoption in business, stating, "AI is reshaping how businesses operate, but with that innovation comes new and complex risks." "TotalAI delivers the visibility, intelligence, and automation required to stay agile and secure, protecting AI workloads at every stage — from development through deployment. We are proud to lead the way with the industry's most comprehensive solution, helping businesses innovate with confidence, while staying ahead of emerging AI threats." Qualys has stated that TotalAI is built for the realities of AI risk, offering more than just infrastructure assessments by directly testing models for a range of vulnerabilities and threats relevant to contemporary AI deployments.

No. 3: Retro Detroit diner Norm's takes breakfast food seriously
Norm's Diner in Detroit takes the No. 3 spot on the 2025 Detroit Free Press/Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers Top 10 New Restaurants & Dining Experiences list for its old-school feel and dedication to housemade breakfast staples. There's something endearing about a retro diner. Maybe it's the simplicity of those ubiquitous diner foods — thick, whipped milkshakes, malts and floats, patty melts and all-day pancakes. Or, maybe it's the old-fashioned décor — the counter-service stools, leatherette-backed banquettes and vintage accessories like jukeboxes plucked from before your time, and soda machines from an era you'd give anything to relive. Whatever the reason for the gravitational pull, everyone longs for a neighborhood diner, and Norm's has all the makings of a great one. The family-friendly eatery was just what the neighborhood needed. With a quaint café, ice cream shop, pizzeria and variety store just next door, all that was left to complete the Agnes Street dining ecosystem was a go-to breakfast joint. Norm's isn't just any breakfast joint, though. Yes, there are staples, like pancakes, to which you can add chocolate chips or blueberries. And lunch favorites, like a turkey club cut into triangles and skewered with cornichons. But cooks here take the art of diner food seriously. Nearly everything is made in house, from fluffy biscuits to pork sausage and lox, and ingredients are sourced from local farms and purveyors when possible. A classic egg salad, for example, features eggs from a Michigan farm. The crowds that form outside Norm's on a Saturday morning are the best indication of the diner's mark on the community. If you're hoping for a seat, just carve out some time in your day. Put your name on the list, then visit the nearby small businesses. It's going to be a while. [ Subscribe to the Eat Drink Freep newsletter for extras and insider scoops on Detroit-area dining. ] Rotating specials at Norm's are the real stars. One giant, crunchy chicken cutlet over an equally large cornmeal pancake drizzled with hot honey and punctuated with scoops of salty whipped butter has left a lasting impression. 8029 Agnes St., Detroit. 313-332-0347; Save the Date: On Thursday, July 24, Norm's Diner, the Detroit Free Press and Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers will host a Top 10 Takeover dinner.
