Former Scout Chief killed in Kunak accident

KUNAK: Datuk Yahamad Budin, 74, who served as Persatuan Masyarakat Brunei Kota Kinabalu Branch Chairman, was killed when the Toyota Hiace van he was driving crashed, trapping him in the driver's seat, along Jalan Kunak-Lahad Datu, Sunday. Eight passengers in the vehicle sustained injuries in the 7.19am incident. Kunak Fire and Rescue Chief Mohamad Omarbatha said rescue teams used specialised equipment to extract the trapped driver from the wreckage. The accident occurred 40km from the fire station, requiring deployment of fire rescue trucks and emergency medical response vehicles. The eight injured passengers comprising four men and four women aged between 46 and 75 received initial treatment from emergency medical teams and Kunak Hospital paramedics before being transported to the hospital for further care. Police were also present at the scene. The group had been returning to Kota Kinabalu from Semporna after conducting charity programs in Tawau and Semporna over several days. PMBS Chairman Killed in Kunak Crash

He was driving a Toyota Hiace van when it skidded off the road and crashed, trapping him in the driver's seat. He died at the scene. Eight passengers, aged between 46 and 75, suffered injuries. Firefighters used hydraulic tools to extricate the victim. All injured passengers received initial treatment at the scene before being taken to Kunak Hospital. Man dies in collision with parked cars
KOTA TINGGI: A man died when the Proton Saga he was driving crashed into two other vehicles, which were parked on Jalan Teratai, Felda Bukit Aping Barat, last night. The 46-year-old victim, Sazali Mohd Razak, was confirmed dead at the scene due to severe body injuries. Kota Tinggi District Police Chief Superintendent Yusof Othman said information regarding the accident was received from the public at 10.25pm. He said preliminary investigations found that the accident was believed to have occurred when the victim lost control of his car and collided with two vehicles, a Proton Wira and a Toyota Hiace, which were parked in front of a house. "As a result of the collision, the 46-year-old Proton Saga driver sustained severe internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene," he said in a statement yesterday. Yusof added that the victim's body was sent to the Kota Tinggi Hospital Forensic Unit. "The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Elderly man killed, eight injured in Kunak van crash
Published on: Sunday, June 29, 2025 Published on: Sun, Jun 29, 2025 Text Size: KUNAK: A 74-year-old man was killed while eight others, were injured after a Toyota Hiace van skidded off Jalan Bukit Ular along the Kunak-Lahad Datu road early this morning. The Fire and Rescue Department received the distress call at 7.19 am, and a team from the Kunak station arrived at the scene about 30 minutes later. The elderly male victim was found trapped in the driver's seat and was extricated using hydraulic tools. He was later confirmed dead at the scene. The injured included male victims aged 46, 70, and 73 (two individuals), as well as female victims aged 51, 58, 72, and 75. Ambulance overturns on slippery road in Melaka, causing 1km jam
MELAKA: A Health Ministry ambulance skidded and overturned near Kampung Paya Luboh, Tangga Batu, this morning, believed to be due to slippery road conditions. A 30-year-old medical assistant was injured in the 10.40am incident. The 40-year-old ambulance driver was unhurt. Melaka Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Deputy Superintendent II Mohd Hafidzatullah Rashid said the department received a distress call at 10.48am and despatched eight firefighters from the Tangga Batu station. "Upon arrival about 10 minutes later, the team found a Toyota Hiace ambulance and one injured man. "Operations commander Senior Fire Officer II Mohamed Azuani Mat Yusof confirmed that the victim was extracted and taken to Melaka Hospital for treatment." It is understood that the ambulance was on its way to pick up a patient when it overturned at a bend. The road was believed to be wet and slippery following rainfall.
