At the event, Ruggs apologized to the family of Tina Tintor, a 23-year-old woman he killed in a car crash on Nov. 2, 2021. "I wish I could turn back the hands of time," Ruggs said when asked what he would tell the family in a video taken by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "I would love for them to meet the real Henry Ruggs and not the one that was escaping from something." Ruggs later clarified he was "escaping" the pressure that came with being a first-round pick, per the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Ruggs traveled at speeds of up to 156 mph in Las Vegas on the night of the fatal crash and had a blood alcohol content of 0.161, more than twice the legal limit in Nevada. Tintor and her dog, Max, were burned to death after Ruggs' Chevrolet Corvette slammed into the rear of her Toyota RAV-4. Ruggs and his girlfriend – Kiara Kilgo-Washington, who goes by Rudy Washington – suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash. Ruggs pleaded guilty to felony DUI causing death and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter in May 2023. He is serving a 3- to 10-year prison sentence and lamented the notoriety of his case in his Tuesday apology to Tintor's family. "I sincerely apologize for not only being a part of that situation, but the fact my face is always in the news, it's always in the newspaper," Ruggs said. "So they have to constantly be reminded of the situation, be reminded of me. Those memories have to continue to rise because of all of the fame and the notoriety I have, which I never asked for. I never liked. I would just tell them that like I said I deeply apologize for being a part of that." Ruggs is eligible for parole beginning Aug. 5, 2026, per records from the Nevada Department of Corrections. He must be considered for parole release no later than July 4, 2027. The 26-year-old was asked whether he would potentially like to return to the NFL in the future. His response? "Yes, I would love to," Ruggs said. "I'm in this newfound spiritual space, and I'm confident in who I am and what I can do, so, when the time comes, I'm sure I'll be ready."

Man pleads guilty in connection to 15-year-old girl's murder in Harrison Twp.
May 9—A man pleaded guilty in connection to the deadly shooting of a 15-year-old in Harrison Twp. On Thursday Baretta Byrdsong, 27, pleaded guilty to endangering children and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court. An involuntary manslaughter and reckless homicide charge were dismissed. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 27. On Nov. 17, 2023, Byrdsong reportedly drove 15-year-old Heaven Washington to an ATM to get money for a field trip later that day. Montgomery County Children Services had temporary custody of Washington and had placed her in a group home where Byrdsong was working at, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office. On the drive back, a vehicle pulled up beside them near Turner Road and Philadelphia Avenue and a gunman fired multiple times. Montgomery County sheriff's deputies responded, but when they arrived they learned a private vehicle had taken Washington to the hospital. She died from multiple gunshot wounds at Miami Valley Hospital. Investigators identified the suspect vehicle as a Toyota RAV-4 and found it near the Englewood Meijer. The Toyota fled while detectives were surveilling it in an unmarked vehicle, leading to a chase. The pursuit went through multiple communities, including New Lebanon and Farmersville. The Toyota's average speed was 109.8 mph while on the highway, according to Vandalia Municipal Court records. Deputies found the SUV abandoned in a field on Havermale Road. Video surveillance identified 31-year-old Tommy Moreland as a suspect. Moreland and Byrdsong had an ongoing feud, according to the prosecutor's office. "This heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder of how an ongoing street grudge can escalate to a fatal encounter, tragically taking the life of an innocent little girl on her way to school for a field trip," said Sheriff Rob Streck. In March, Moreland was found guilty of three counts of felonious assault, two counts of murder and tampering with evidence and one count each of discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer. He was sentenced to 37 to 46 1/2 years in prison. Two others, Darrell Bostic and Denisha Taylor, have charges pending in connection to Washington's death. Bostic, who is accused of being in the SUV with Moreland when he shot Washington, has a final pretrial hearing on Aug. 20 and is scheduled to go to trial on Aug. 25. He's facing murder, felonious assault, discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and having weapons while under disability charges. Taylor was indicted on tampering with evidence and obstructing justice charges. Her next hearing is scheduled for May 28. Washington's estate is suing Byrdsong and the group home, Reflections Group Home LLC, claiming they were negligent in the teen's death. The case was previously scheduled to go to trial on May 14, but the defense requested the trial be continued, according to court documents.

Anti-Israel agitator charged in violent hate crime attack on two Jewish college students
An Illinois man has been charged in the violent hate crime attack on two Jewish students at DePaul University last year. Adam Erkan, 20, is facing four felony charges, including two counts of hate crime and two counts of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm. Prosecutors allege that Erkan attacked Max Long and Michael Kaminsky while the pair were peacefully advocating for Israel on DePaul University's campus in Chicago on Nov. 6. Authorities said at the time that they were also looking for a second suspect. Attacked Jewish Students In Chicago Speak Out About 'War On College Campuses' Erkan, who was not a student at the university, allegedly approached Long while wearing a face-covering and making antisemitic slurs, according to police. A second suspect then struck Long from behind and eventually turned on Kaminsky when he attempted to step in to help, police said. The Cook County Prosecutor's Office and Chicago Police Department did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment. Fox News Digital was unable to locate an attorney representing Erkan. Long, an Israeli Defense Forces reservist, lost consciousness and suffered a brain injury from the attack, while Kaminsky sustained a fractured wrist and required surgery. Princeton President Vows Not To Cave To Trump, Yet Acknowledges Antisemitism On Campus "It's definitely some sense of relief," Long said, adding, "I've said many times, I felt safer having the support of my team in the army around me in Gaza than I do a lot of times on my own college campus in Chicago." Erkan was arrested outside his home earlier this week and made his first appearance in court on Thursday. A judge ordered Erkan to be held without bail as he awaits trial. Ivy League Anti-israel Ringleader Mahmoud Khalil Denies Allegations As Judge Awaits Deportation Evidence "We are extremely grateful for the work of the police who investigated this case and apprehended the suspect," DePaul University officials said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "The suspect is not a member of the DePaul community. Acts of hate and violence have no place at DePaul. We condemn antisemitism in all its forms and stand in solidarity with those affected by this reprehensible act." Earlier this month, Long and Kaminsky filed a lawsuit alongside The Lawfare Project against DePaul University, alleging that officials allowed antisemitic rhetoric to infiltrate the campus. "We appreciate the work the Chicago Police Department did to identify and apprehend this suspect, and expect the State Attorney to vigorously prosecute this as the conspiracy and hate crime attack it was," Gerard Filitti, The Lawfare Project Senior Counsel, said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "We have every confidence that the second attacker will be apprehended shortly. As the judge made clear at yesterday's hearing, the evidence shows a plan to attack Max and Michael, and its methodical implementation. It is highly significant that the defendant, Adam Erkan, was denied bail, clearly signaling that he remains a danger to the Jewish community, and setting an important precedent in the prosecution of hate crimes."
