General Hospital Recap: Emma Vows to be Ride or Die for Gio

General Hospital Recap: Emma Vows to be Ride or Die for Gio originally appeared on Daytime Confidential. On today's General Hospital recap: Brook Lynn apologizes to Ned who hugs her and says he understands. He says it was her life, and her decision though he wished she would have confided in him. Ned is angrier with Lois. Brook Lynn says she's wanted to meet her child for so long, but this turned into a nightmare. Ned asks about Gio and Brook Lynn tells him how angry he was with her. Ned is certain Gio will see everything was Lois' doing, once things settle down. She's worried Gio won't give her the chance to be in his life, but Ned reassures her. Olivia talks to Tracy about holding Gio as a baby and wonders why she didn't feel he was her grandchild. She wonders how Lois could have done this to them. Tracy realizes she's now blood related to Sonny and won't let him corrupt Gio. Brook Lynn apologizes but Olivia knows she did what was best for her at the time. Tracy admits to Ned she just found out about the baby and was making plans to find him. Gio says he smashed his violin because he thought he got this talent from his mother but that was a lie. He says he felt like he still had a piece of her, but now knows she wasn't even his mother. Gio wonders who knew the truth and whether anyone was ever going to tell him. Emma says she believes Dante didn't know about the pregnancy and Brook Lynn didn't know Gio was the son she gave up. Gio says Dante hates him, but Emma disagrees. She says many people care about him, including her. Emma promises to go with him, wherever he goes. Lulu admits to Dante she confronted Lois and Gio must have overheard. She says she thought he deserved to know the truth, but he says it just made everything worse. Lulu says she was thinking about missing time with Charlotte and how Brook Lynn knew Gio was her son. Dante disagrees saying he feels she did all of this to make Brook Lynn look bad. He says Lulu let her petty rivalry upend so many lives, especially Gio's. Lulu swears it wasn't about her, but Dante says she should have told him the minute she thought his child was Gio. Lulu says Brook Lynn is to blame for giving up her baby, but he says she discounted Gio's feelings to get into his good graces. Lulu swears she didn't do this to get back together with him and wants nothing to do with Dante again. Dante says he's going to be the one to tell Rocco and warns her to stay away from Gio. Jason thanks Sasha for her help and she says she's glad Michael is back. Sasha wants him to continue to pretend to be the baby's father, especially with the custody hearing coming. Sasha understands she's being a little hypocritical, but Jason says Michael trusts Sasha to be a good mother. Sasha doesn't understand what Willow is going through and how she's going to lose her children because of Drew. Cody updates Sasha on what happened at the ball and blames himself. Sasha believes he was doing what he thought was right for Dante. Cody feels badly for Gio and hates it came out this way. Michael refuses to let Willow see the kids. She says the kids belong with her, but he disagrees. She says she's been their only parent for months, but Michael says she also uprooted them to move in with Drew. Willow claims the kids love living with Drew, but Michael says Wylie has been asking when he can come home. He says she's been putting her wants above the kids needs and that's going to end. Michael says he'll be suing for full custody and she will have to break up with Drew and move out of his house. He says it's time for her to choose between Drew and the kids. Willow tells Drew about the ultimatum and thinks she doesn't have a choice. Drew promises he won't let her lose her kids and says she can't trust Michael. Willow agrees and Drew tells her not to let Michael tear them apart. Willow decides her marriage is officially over and removes her rings. Drew tells her they'll dig up whatever Michael is hiding and use it against him. Michael thanks Jason again for everything he did and for looking out for Sasha. Jason says he'd do anything to protect Michael and the kids. Michael admits he wants to be a father to Sasha's baby. Jason says Sasha values her independence and Michael understands. Michael tells Jason about the ultimatum for Willow to leave Drew. He says she puts her needs above the kids. Jason says he trusts Michael to do what's right and only Wylie and Amelia Lynn apologizes to Ned who hugs her and says he understands. Help Zoë hear: A mother's heartfelt appeal for life-changing surgery for her four-year-old

Zoe Olivari Image: Supplied All Tracy Olivari longs for is to hear her four-year-old daughter Zoë speak a full sentence — and for Zoë to finally hear her say the words: 'I love you. I'm proud of you.' But those dreams remain heartbreakingly distant. The Goodwood mother is making a public appeal for help to raise funds for a life-changing operation that could allow Zoë to hear for the first time. Born prematurely at just seven months, Zoë was given only hours to live. Doctors had to resuscitate her twice after birth, and she was immediately placed on life support, with severely underdeveloped lungs and around-the-clock medical care. 'The doctors told me she wouldn't make it,' Tracy recalled. 'But she proved them all wrong. She fought harder than anyone I've ever known.' Next Stay Close ✕ Tracy, a single mother, spent those critical days at her daughter's side, holding her hand, whispering prayers, and speaking life into her fragile little body. 'Hours turned into days, and days into months,' she said. 'And just like that, my brave girl's fighting journey began.' Now four years old, Zoë has an unbreakable spirit — but her fight isn't over. Because of complications from her premature birth, she has profound hearing loss. She cannot hear or speak, and her condition has delayed her development, cutting her off from the world around her. 'She's supposed to start school next year,' Tracy explained. 'But she can't attend a mainstream school, and the only special needs school nearby has a waiting list that just keeps growing.' There is hope. Doctors say that with a specialised hearing operation, Zoë could regain enough hearing to start learning to speak — and possibly attend a mainstream school. But the surgery costs R32,000, and Tracy, who works alone to provide for her family, simply cannot afford it. 'I've been trying to save up every month, but as a single mom, it's just impossible to reach that amount,' she said. 'We've also been on the public hospital's waiting list for more than a year, but nothing has happened. This year is our only window. If we miss it, she may fall too far behind.' Tracy is now appealing to the public for help. Zoe and her mommy Tracy Image: Supplied 'I'm not just asking for money,' she said, 'I'm asking for hope. I'm asking for the chance to give my daughter a future — one where she isn't always fighting, one where she can finally rest and enjoy life like any other child. 'I am also asking for prayers because I know, that prayer carries strength, look at how far it brought us.' She dreams of the day she can hear her daughter's voice — and of the day Zoë can hear the voices that love her most.

US fuel tanks in Top End not built for severe cyclones

Giant fuel tanks being built at a cost of $270 million for the US military in the Top End are not designed to withstand a category three cyclone, have sprung leaks and lack a building permit. But the Northern Territory government is working with the contractors, US company Crowley, to complete Project Caymus in Darwin Harbour to Australia's required safety, construction and environmental standards. The 11 tanks are designed to hold 300 million litres of fuel to support Darwin-based US military operations in the Indo-Pacific. They are built on NT government land and were due to be operational in September 2023 but have yet to hold fuel due to leaks and water intrusion around their bases. An engineering report obtained by the ABC said the tanks should be classed at "importance level four", the highest classification for structures containing materials capable of causing hazardous conditions that extend beyond property boundaries. Instead the tanks were initially designed at importance level two, the classification for a car garage, shed or suburban backyard workshop. The report, completed in December 2023, said Crowley had specified the tanks be designed at a wind speed of 249.5km/h but they were designed for 193.5km/h. Severe Tropical Cyclone Tracy decimated Darwin in 1974, with gusts of up to 217km/h before wind recording instruments failed. Gusts during a category three cyclone can reach up to 224km/h, according to the Bureau of Meteorology. "Failure of the tanks in a cyclonic wind event could result in over 200 million litres of flammable and/or combustible liquid becoming uncontained," said the report cited by the ABC. Such a failure would cause hazardous conditions beyond the property boundaries and to significant population areas and strategic facilities with "catastrophic consequences on people, property and the environment", the report said. Crowley said all required approvals would be obtained from the NT government and other relevant authorities to comply with safety, construction and environmental standards. The NT Department of Lands, Planning and the Environment confirmed to AAP the tanks lacked a building permit but it was decided not to pursue legal or punitive action. The department said it was working with Crowley for it to provide independent verification of the "required safety, construction, and environmental standards and considerations". "This independent evidence is necessary to determine that the tanks meet Australian standards that will ensure the project can be completed and operated," it said.

Gourmet milkshake shop opening first Cincinnati-area store

Another Pennsylvania-based company is moving into Greater Cincinnati, but it's not a convenience store chain. It's a dessert shop with milkshakes, ice cream and small-batch chocolates. MilkShake Factory opens its first Cincinnati-area store in Mason at 2144 Kings Mills Road on May 31. The store will celebrate its grand opening with music and a buy-one-get-one free offer on all shakes, sundaes and molten cups from noon to 4 p.m. MilkShake Factory is known for its gourmet milkshakes, with flavors like Chocolate Dipped Strawberry, Campfire S'mores and Cookie Jar. The brand also offers chocolate barks, ice cream sundaes and dairy-free shakes. The Mason store is owned by franchisees husband-and-wife Tracy and Joe Carter. It also marks an expansion into Ohio for the Pittsburgh-headquartered company. 'With so many families, attractions, and visitors passing through Mason, we saw a real opportunity to bring something special to the area,' Tracy Carter said in an emailed statement. 'MilkShake Factory is all about creating joyful moments, and we're excited to become part of the community's everyday celebrations.' A MilkShake Factory is also set to open in Columbus this weekend, with two more stores planned for elsewhere in Ohio.
