Celebrity Traitors star 'already frontrunner to win' after line-up is confirmed
After months of eager anticipation the Celebrity Traitors line-up is finally here, and there is already a favourite to win. After three hugely successful seasons of the Claudia Winkleman-helmed game of subterfuge, trust and betrayal with members of the public – the BBC reality series is getting a star-studded makeover. The impressive cast includes a cross-section of culture, including Sir Stephen Fry, historian David Olusoga, singer Cat Burns, comedian Alan Carr and plenty more iconic names for a total of 19 famous faces. And as the buzz around the prestigious line-up ramps up, the odds are in for frontrunner who will swoop to victory in the castle to claim a prize pot of £100,000 for a charity of their choice. Ted Lasso star and comedian Nick Mohammed is currently the early favourite to win the series at 7/4 odds, according to Betfred – whether by acing the game as a Faithful or hoodwinking everyone as a Traitor. Celebrating the announcement of his inclusion in the Celebrity Traitors cast, Nick wrote on social media: 'I am, and always have been… GOING TO BE ON CELEBRITY TRAITORS!' with fans sharing their excitement in the comments. He is closely followed by Bridget Jones star Celia Imrie at 2/1 and Olympic diver Tom Daley at a tidy 5/2 to round out the top three. Standing strong in the top half is singer Charlotte Church at 3/1, with Joe Wilkinson and Mistakes singer Paloma Faith neck-and-neck at 9/2. As for which of our conniving players will be chosen as Traitor, Paloma is leading the charge at whopping odds of 11/8. Hot on her heels are Tom at 6/4 and Charlotte at 7/4. Betfred's Kayley Cornelius added: 'While it was the Faithfuls who claimed victory in the regular series that aired earlier this year, we bookmakers are backing the traitors to come out on top this time around, with odds of 8/11.' For those still making their own mind up about who may win, the rest of the contestants include: Sports presenter Clare Balding, former rugby player Joe Marler, Jonathan Ross, GMB's Kate Garraway and comedian Lucy Beaumont. There's also Shetland's Mark Bonnar, YouTuber Niko Omilana, Irish actor Ruth Codd, and EastEnders star Tameka Empson. Although, despite plenty of speculation, fan-favourite comedian Bob Mortimer is not joining much to people's disappointment. Nevertheless, for our remaining stars, it's all still to play for. 'Look at all those famous faces. Smiling. Popular. Talented. Clever. Respected. All hoping that we'll play nicely because they're celebrities. They couldn't be more wrong,' Claudia ominously delivered in a teaser video. There has quite literally never been such an extraordinary line-up for anything on television since Cheryl (then Tweedy) and Jo Brand defeated Alastair Campbell on Celebrity Apprentice, and we had the satisfaction of seeing Piers Morgan getting fired. I wasn't sure we'd ever reach such heights again, but here we are. There are some of the best characters in showbiz, and some I never ever imagined could take part in reality television. Who could ever have imagined Sir Stephen Fry, one of the rare true national treasures of this country, a showbiz giant on both sides of the Atlantic, and one of the finest actors of a generation, would ever lower himself to reality television? Pop Alan Carr on anything and you're onto a winner, but watching him pull a Linda and get himself in a flap – traitor or faithful – will be gold. And in a statement, she added: 'We're incredibly lucky these brilliant people have said yes. I'd love to say we'll take it easy on them and they'll just wander round the castle and eat toast for a couple of weeks but that would be a lie.' More Trending On the Rest is Entertainment podcast, Richard Osman revealed that his chats with some of the contestants during the Bafta awards shed light on exactly how intense the experience has been. He said: 'The thing everyone was saying was, it is a lot more intense than you think it's going to be. 'If you were to win it, you're there for two weeks. There are no phones, you're not watching TV, you're kept sort of isolated because of the nature of the game.' View More » The Celebrity Traitors will air on BBC One and iPlayer this Autumn. The Traitors' Paul admits celebrity cast must do three things to succeed
EXCLUSIVE: The Celebrity Traitors line-up has now been announced by the BBC after former the Traitors star Paul Gorton spoke to the Mirror about the show at the BAFTAs recently The Traitors star Paul Gorton has teased what fans should expect from the celebrity version of the BBC show.. He's also shared his advice for those taking part in the star-studded spin-off, which has finally announced its line-up tonight. Paul, now 37, appeared in the second series of the hit BBC show, which aired last year, as a Traitor. Amid his scheming in the role, he was considered a reality TV "villain" by viewers, and the tables eventually turned on him when he was banished by his co-stars more than halfway through. A host of celebrities are now set to follow in the footsteps of past contestants like Paul on the Celebrity Traitors, which will be released later this year. The Mirror spoke to him about the spin-off on the red carpet of the BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises on Sunday. Sharing his advice for the cast, he said: "You've gotta be cut-throat, you've gotta be brutal and you've got to stab people in the back." Paul went on to tease at the awards ceremony in London: "They're like the best three things you can do, right? And then you'll either win or you'll have a lot of fun." Asked if he expects the dynamic to be different among celebrities, Paul told us that he expects to see a different side to the contestants than their usual TV appearances. He also expressed hope that the show is "absolute chaos". He said: "I think you're gonna see the people that you're used to seeing on tele all the time doing like really naughty, bad things. Because we always see them in like a nice guise, whereas you can't be nice in the Traitors - whether you're a Faithful or whether you're a Traitor." Paul concluded by telling us: "Whatever happens, I hope it's absolute chaos!" Since our interview with Paul - who said that he didn't know who the cast were - the BBC has announced the line-up for the Celebrity Traitors. The 19 celebrities who will compete on the show have been revealed this evening. Comedian Alan Carr, singer-songwriter Cat Burns, actor Celia Imrie and singer Charlotte Church are all part of the line-up. Presenter Clare Balding, filmmaker David Olusoga and former rugby union player Joe Marler are also in it. It has revealed that comedian Joe Wilkinson, presenters Jonathan Ross and Kate Garraway, as well as comedian Lucy Beaumont are among the other contestants. The line-up also features actors Mark Bonnar and Nick Mohammed. Content creator Niko Omilana, singer-songwriter Paloma Faith and actor Ruth Codd will be on the show too. The remaining three contestants are presenter Stephen Fry, EastEnders star Tameka Empson and Olympian Tom Daley. It's been announced that the nine-part Celebrity Traitors will be released through BBC One and BBC iPlayer this autumn. The celebrities will compete in the hope of winning a cash prize of up to £100,000 for a charity of their choice. Host Claudia Winkleman said: "We're incredibly lucky these brilliant people have said yes. I'd love to say we'll take it easy on them and they'll just wander round the castle and eat toast for a couple of weeks but that would be a lie."

Baftas begin in Traitors style with Alan Cumming accepting ‘oath' as host
