Destination X star exposes off-camera moment after three contestants axed in huge twist
Three Destination X contestants were eliminated in the very first episode in a Traitors-style twist. Destination X contestant Chloe-Anne has opened up about the show's behind-the-scenes secrets after being eliminated not once but twice. The historian from Oxford was one of the 13 strangers battling it out to win £100,000 on Rob Brydon's thrilling series. The players travel across Europe and take part in challenges to try and find out where they are. In a Traitors-style twist, Chloe-Anne was eliminated from the competition in the very first episode, only to be brought back into the game earlier this week in a major twist. She, alongside players Ashvin and Claire, had failed to secure a spot in the game from the very first challenge, leaving them at risk and missing out on the first few days in the Destination X bus. After becoming a victim of the twist, which Chloe-Anne had predicted, having been a fan of Claudia Winkleman's murder mystery gameshow, too, the former contestant went on to reveal what happened behind the scenes. 'I remember right at the beginning at the airport, when we were all sitting down, I was with Dawn and Nick, and we were trying to work out who the other contestants were and who the actors were,' she began. 'There were 13 people we thought were contestants, and I remember turning to them and going, 'I've seen The Traitors, I know what's going to happen, three of us are about to go and then we're coming back'. I said that to them literally just before it happened, but obviously at that point, I was hoping it wasn't going to be me.' Unfortunately, Chloe-Anne was turned away from the first few challenges of the game, only for Rob to shock the other players by revealing their comeback. In the moments after being eliminated the first time, Chloe-Anne recalled feeling 'reasonably chilled' while Claire and Ashvin, who were in the same position, were 'fuming'. 'It was funny for me watching them, like Ash's face, when you see him walk off there you see it for a flash of a second, and his face is so funny in that moment, I've never seen anyone look so murderous in my life, and Claire was pacing up and down,' she recalled. Before returning to the game with the other players, Chloe-Anne said it felt like she was in a 'strange limbo', as they were following the Destination X coach around but didn't have full details on their location. She said, 'I think if I'd been on my own, it would have been really, really bizarre, but at least there were three of us in that same situation, so we bonded and created like a mini family.' She went on: 'We knew vaguely where we were the whole time, but we weren't given any of our belongings or anything like that, it was still very much like we were on our own separate little bus.' Unlike the rest of the players, Chloe-Anne did not have the chance to take part in the other challenges. She admitted feeling a little less prepared for the game, like she was going in 'blind.' 'Obviously, we didn't get to experience any of the gameplay or anything like that, so when we went back in, I felt that we were quite ill-prepared. Everyone else had the chance to put the X on the map three times; they knew what sort of things the clues were, they knew what they were looking out for,' she said. 'We were walking in blind in the same mindset we'd been in from the airport, and I think we were almost a little bit too chilled about it - I certainly was.' Reflecting on her exit after only a few days to actually experience Destination X, Chloe-Anne shared: 'I was really gutted to go again so soon. I feel like my journey on the show was like a game of Snakes and Ladders, and I kept thinking that I'd landed on a snake and gone out, and actually I found myself on a ladder and skipped straight to episode three.' 'I find my game was just continually losing to win until eventually I ran out of luck,' she admitted. 'On that last one, with putting the X on the map, if I had the chance to get that one right and do it again, or not necessarily right but just not go out, then I might have started to get the hang of the game a little bit more and get the feel for how it works, what clues we're looking for and how you piece those clues together.' Despite her short stint on Destination X, reflecting on her experience as a whole, Chloe-Anne said it was 'phenomenal' and a 'whirlwind', despite feeling 'gutted' by her exit. 'It was a very strange experience in that it both felt like it was a really, really long period of time and a really short period of time at the same time. 'It feels like a crazy amount happened in a really short period of time, but yeah, it was phenomenal, a completely unforgettable experience. 'It was like nothing else that is going to happen to me again, probably, or has ever happened before.'

Destination X star details debilitating hidden health condition as BBC series became ‘ultimate challenge'
The Destination X contestant saw the BBC gameshow as the "ultimate challenge" to help her overcome it. Destination X contestant Chloe-Anne has opened up about a health condition that has impacted her since childhood, as she hoped to overcome it while taking part in the BBC series. The historian from Oxford was one of 13 strangers battling it out on Rob Brydon's new gameshow. The show sees them travel across Europe and take part in challenges to try and find out where they are. In a Traitors-style twist, Chloe-Anne was eliminated from the competition in the very first episode, only to be brought back into the game earlier this week. However, it was only for a short stint, as she lost out on the £100,000 cash prize when she failed to correctly guess the location after a series of tense challenges in episodes that aired earlier this week. Despite losing her spot in the show, Chloe-Anne has revealed that she did complete what she set out to do in overcoming her anxiety. In an exclusive interview, the 27-year-old shared: 'I grew up with crippling anxiety, like I had such bad anxiety when I was growing up that I couldn't go into a cinema without screaming, crying, or throwing up and running out, it was really extreme claustrophobia and anxiety. 'When I was about 15 years old, I developed this phrase to help me get through it, which is 'Be more Tiger-Lily than Wendy'. I wanted to be more like Tiger-Lily from Peter Pan than Wendy because Wendy was this wimp who couldn't do anything by herself and just cried all the time, and I just felt like she was me, and I didn't want to be her. 'I wanted to be this badass warrior princess like Tiger Lily, who could do absolutely anything, and I felt like this was the final challenge to that. I've come so far with being more Tiger Lily than Wendy, and this was the ultimate way of proving to myself you really can do anything like this.' As a teenager, Chloe-Anne worked to overcome her anxiety, starting with smaller challenges, even just taking herself to the cinema. She then went into public speaking and is now becoming an aerialist and hanging herself from the ceiling to do circus tricks. With plans to write historical fiction, pursue a PhD, and launch a social media series featuring historical facts from every country in the world, the star has taken major steps to overcome her anxiety but saw Destination X as her 'ultimate challenge.' Chloe-Anne had previously applied for The Traitors and wanted to try her hand at Destination X not only to overcome her anxiety but also as a tribute to her grandmother, who had a huge influence on her life and with whom she spent time doing puzzle books growing up. She told us: 'My grandmother was a huge part of my life growing up and she's always been a huge inspiration for me. She passed away almost exactly a year before the filming of the show, and we used to do puzzle books and riddles together, and she always used to love doing stuff like that with me. It felt like a bit of a sign with the timing of it a little bit.' Reflecting on her experience as a whole, Chloe-Anne said it was 'phenomenal' and a 'whirlwind', despite feeling 'gutted' by her exit.

The Inheritance's Elizabeth Hurley plays dead woman in Traitors-style show
Get ready for your new TV addiction this autumn with The Inheritance as the Traitors-style show debuts a first-look trailer, starring Elizabeth Hurley and Rob Rinder. Pulling in the star power for the new launch, it features Hurley in a dramatic role as "The Deceased" as she poses in front of a white frilly coffin while wearing a glamorous sequinned gown. She gives a flavour of what's to come in the Channel 4 series and explains what the game of alliances and betrayal will involve, as viewers also get a glimpse of her co-star Rob Rinder. A first-look trailer and image has been released for the new immersive reality show, with Hurley posing in a coffin as The Deceased. She plays the character of a recently-deceased wealthy woman whose will is being handled by executor and trusted legal counsel Rinder. A first image from the series features Rinder standing alongside glamorous benefactor Hurley, sitting up in her coffin. In a first trailer for The Inheritance, Hurley explains more about what to expect from the series, as well as what her role will be. Standing in front of the coffin, she says: "I play a glamorous and mysterious benefactor, known only as The Deceased." Cutting to a shot of a grand country estate, she continues: "The Deceased lived here, in this beautiful house on a vast country estate, and following her untimely death has left behind a fortune to be claimed." Hurley explains a little more about what players will be aiming to do and as Rinder appears on the front steps of the house, she adds: "The wonderful Robert Rinder is executor of the will and he'll be keeping a watchful eye on the would-be heirs and heiresses. I can't wait for you all to see it when it comes to Channel 4 this autumn." If the forthcoming Channel 4 series appears to have vibes of The Traitors about it, that may be because it comes from the same production company, Studio Lambert. Like the hit BBC One series, it is set in a luxurious country estate and requires players to work as a team on challenges, but ultimately betray each other to bag the prize money. Across 12 episodes, 13 players will have to complete the tricky assignments The Deceased has included in her will and use their cunning and wit to secure the money attached to each final request. But there's a twist - only one player can claim the money from each request, so they must manage to convince the rest of the group that they alone deserve to get the cash that they all earned. A Channel 4 description of the show reads: "The Inheritance is a game of wit, willpower, persuasion and betrayal, where it's not about who deserves the money, but who is willing to outplay, out-charm and out-scheme the competition to claim it. It is camp, cut-throat and completely gripping." Hurley said: "It's a thrill to be part of this clever game, playing The Deceased; it all takes place on her huge estate in the English countryside and she dresses to the nines in every scene. Tune in this autumn to catch The Inheritance on Channel 4." Rinder added: "This is a high-stakes strategy game served with a side of scheming and sabotage. As The Executor I enforce the rules, keep the chaos in check - more or less - and make sure our players are deserving of every glittering penny left by our dearly departed deceased, played by the iconic Elizabeth Hurley." Since the runaway success of The Traitors, it's no surprise that plenty of other shows have tried to emulate its popularity. Studio Lambert are trying their luck at Channel 4 this time, but The Inheritance is just the latest in a long list of immersive reality TV series. The cast for the long-awaited Celebrity Traitors has recently been announced, which is set to welcome the likes of Stephen Fry, Kate Garraway, Paloma Faith and Alan Carr to the castle later this year. Over on ITV, Stephen Mangan will host The Fortune Hotel again for a second season which sends pairs of contestants to a luxury Caribbean resort for its game of alliances and persuasion. In March, Netflix launched its own Traitors-esque show Million Dollar Secret as Peter Serafinowicz hosted scheming and backstabbing players hoping to win big at a Canadian lakeside estate. Studio Lambert has previously tried out another similar style of series at Channel 4 - 2023's Rise and Fall hosted by Greg James saw contestants divided into Rulers and Grafters who had to make their way from the servant basement of a luxury tower block to the penthouse suite. However, it was dropped after just one series. The Inheritance is expected to air on Channel 4 in autumn 2025.
