Man shot in Coconut Grove dies, Miami police say

A man shot in Coconut Grove on Wednesday evening has died, according to the Miami Police Department. Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert at the 3300 block of SW 37th Avenue shortly before 6:30 p.m., where they found the victim, who was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital Trauma Center in critical condition but later died. Police did not release further details about the incident or the victim. The investigation continues.

Alfie Wise, known for his role as Batman in 'The Cannonball Run' and Burt Reynolds' longtime costar, died at the age of 82 on July 22, 2025. Wise, who retired from acting in 2000, died of natural causes at Palm Beach, Florida's Thomas H. Corey Veteran Affairs Medical Center, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Wise was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on Nov. 17, 1942, to parents Ralph Sr. and Miss Wise. He attended Keith Junior High School and Altoona Area High School, graduating in 1960. Alfie Wise, who teamed with Burt Reynolds in many of his films including The Cannonball Run, Smokey & The Bandit, Stroker Ace, among others, has died. He was 82. Wise passed away on July 22 of natural causes at the Thomas H. Corey VA Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FL, according to media reports. Not only was Alfie a pleasure to work with as a successful Realtor, but he was an accomplished actor. He frequently worked with his friend, Burt Reynolds, including in the classic film Smokey and the Bandit. The 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards announced its final nominees on June 27, following a multi-step selection process. Eligible works included dramas and entertainment programs released on both domestic and international streaming platforms between June 1, 2019, and May 31, 2025. The nominees were selected through public voting - held from June 11 to 24 on the official website - along with input from Sports Chosun entertainment reporters and a panel of industry experts. The second round of netizen voting will run exclusively on Celeb Champ from June 30 to July 17. The awards ceremony will take place on July 18 at Paradise City, Incheon, and will be broadcast live on KBS 2TV. Among the nominees, The Great Gianjang (also known as Kian's Bizarre B&B) earned nods for Kian84 and Ji Ye-eun in the Best Male Variety Star and Best Female Entertainer categories.
