I returned to Ahly for more achievements: Winger Trezeguet - Egyptian Football

Ahly's returning star winger Mahmoud 'Trezeguet' Hassan says he didn't hesitate to accept the offer to rejoin the Cairo giants, insisting that his return is to secure more achievements, not only playing at the anticipated Club World Cup. In late January, Ahly announced the signing of their former player Trezeguet from Turkish side Trabzonspor on a five-year deal starting this summer. "There weren't previous negotiations to join Ahly. I am a fan of the club before being a player. I had my own ambitions to play abroad, and I already did what I wanted, but once I received a call from Ahly President Mahmoud El-Khatib telling me the club needed me, everything was over immediately," Trezeguet told ON Sport TV channel on Saturday. "Firstly, Trabzonspor asked for a huge amount for the transfer, but I said I would play for Ahly or wouldn't play football again," he added. The 30-year-old returned to his boyhood club this summer after a decade-long spell abroad that included stints with Anderlecht, Aston Villa, Kasimpasa, Trabzonspor, İstanbul Başakşehir, and Qatar's Al-Rayyan, where he spent the last season on loan. Returning to the Egyptian league wasn't a choice for Trezeguet at the time being, as he had already received lucrative offers from other Egyptian clubs, but he refused, preferring to join the Reds again. "I chose to rejoin Ahly despite receiving offers with triple my current salary. My return wasn't only for the Club World Cup, as the contract runs for five years. I didn't want to return to Ahly at the age of retirement, but to achieve more goals here," the Egyptian international explained. The first edition of the expanded FIFA Club World Cup, which will kick off on 14 June, will be the first test for Trezeguet with Ahly, and according to him, the players will do their best to please the fans. The African giants, drawn in Group A alongside Palmeiras (Brazil), FC Porto (Portugal), and Inter Miami (USA), kick off the tournament against the American side on Sunday, 15 June. "I say to our fans, you can dream of winning all tournaments, even the Club World Cup. Ahly taught us to dream. We know that the mission will be difficult, but the players have the quality and determination and will do their best," he concluded. Ahly made several high-profile signings this summer, including Tunisian midfielder Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane and the return of Malian international Aliou Dieng, alongside Trezeguet. Amid their current training camp in Miami, Ahly will be facing Mexican club Pachuca in a friendly match on Sunday night. Trezeguet returns to Al Ahly after 10 years

Ammon News - The flagship of Egyptian football has brought a star player back home. Al Ahly has announced the signing of Mohamed Trezeguet, who will don the club's jersey once again after a decade away. The 30-year-old midfielder is a product of the Red Devils' academy and began his professional career right here. During his 3 years with Al Ahly's first team, the Egyptian helped the club win the CAF Champions League twice, along with several other international trophies. Throughout his career, Trezeguet has played for Anderlecht, Aston Villa, Beşiktaş, and several other Turkish clubs. Most recently, the midfielder was with Qatari side Al-Rayyan, where he played since last year. Trezeguet is set to make his return to the Al Ahly lineup as early as June 15, in the opening match of the FIFA Club World Cup against Inter Miami. Daily Sports

Teen sensations Lamine Yamal and Franco Mastantuono need space to develop, says David Trezeguet

Teen sensations Lamine Yamal and Franco Mastantuono need space to develop, says David Trezeguet ASUNCION – Barcelona's Lamine Yamal and River Plate's Franco Mastantuono are dazzling fans at just 17, but must be allowed to develop without excessive pressure to reach their potential, former France striker David Trezeguet said on May 14. 'Yamal is a pure, unique talent, a player who has proven to be different from the rest. He grew up in Barcelona's academy, where the 'Lionel Messi' identity is very present, so these kids copy that format,' Trezeguet, a World Cup winner with France in 1998, told reporters. Mastantuono, River Plate's attacking midfielder who is making waves in Argentina, is 'demonstrating all his qualities at a very young age', the Frenchman added. Yamal is the youngest player to debut and score for Spain. With Barcelona, he has already won the Spanish league, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup. He also won the European Championship with Spain. Trezeguet, a former River Plate player, where Mastantuono made his debut in January last year, emphasised that both players 'are great to watch' because of the way they play and the way they 'express their talent'. 'They'll have time to perfect everything else. They're young. But I think it's important for football in general to have this type of player who serves as an example for the younger players,' he said. Juan Pablo Sorin, who played for both River Plate and Barcelona, said that he would like to see both players continue their development. 'I don't like comparisons, because I think it's like limiting the player who's emerging. It's the same thing that happened to Lamine and Leo (Messi),' the former Argentina defender told Reuters. 'It's true that the position is similar, but I think the characteristics are different, and I think each player has their own potential, qualities, and areas for improvement.' Both Trezeguet and Sorin said River Plate fans should make the most of Mastantuono's time there as he would likely continue his career in Europe soon. The Argentinian, who has been linked with Real Madrid, shone in River Plate's victory over Boca Juniors last month, scoring a free kick. 'We have to let them complete all the stages. They have to play, have fun, and continue to show off their talent and their audacity. They have a lot of personality,' Sorin said. 'What really catches my attention about both of them is how effective they are with the number of balls they touch. They make most of them effective, and that's impressive for their age.'
