The Sun exclusively revealed Line of Duty would be returning next year for a seventh series. When speaking to The Sun's TV Mag, the actor was grilled about rumours of the show making a comeback. Martin shared: 'We're always talking about possibilities and schedules and whatnot. "Everybody's got stuff going on at the minute, so I think anything, unfortunately, would be a way off. "You know, the day people stop asking about the show will be a sad day, so I'm delighted that people are still excited about it. "We'd all love to work together again at some point. We still all meet up. "I met with Jed [Mercurio, the show's creator], Adrian [Dunbar] and Vicky [McClure] in London before Christmas - we went out for dinner, to hear what everyone's up to." He added: 'It's amazing. It's the best feeling as an actor when you feel like the whole country's in the palm of your hand with what's coming next, and there's only a couple of you in that secret of who's surviving and what's going on. "But because we're all so close and we all want the best for the show, we wouldn't do it again just for the sake of it. "If it was just about doing it for the sake of it, we'd have probably done another three series by now. Line of Duty stars spark new episode rumours as they reunite for night out "We really care about the quality of it. So if we come back, it would be for the right reasons. "It won't just be: 'Get another one done.' It'll be because Jed thinks there's a story to tell." A TV insider previously told The Sun: 'This is the news Line of Duty fans have been waiting for since the sixth season left them deflated when it aired back in 2021. 'The BBC almost immediately requested more episodes to continue the story, but the success of the show meant Vicky, Martin and Adrian were instantly snapped up for other projects. 'But after several meetings with Jed [Mercurio, creator and writer] and the production team, they've finally managed to clear space in their calendars next year to commit to making the show.' The Sun first revealed in 2022 that the show, which drew up to 13million viewers, would return. The stars have been attached to other projects - Martin with supernatural thriller The Rig, Vicky with bomb squad drama Trigger Point, and Adrian with jazz singer detective show Ridley. Many of the 13million who saw the sixth series felt it a huge anti-climax to learn buffoon Det Supt Ian Buckells (Nigel Boyle) was H, the elusive mastermind with links to organised crime. Fans had wondered if it was a genuine end after nine years of nail-biting storylines, or a red herring by creator Jed Mercurio. TV Mag is available for free every Saturday, only in The Sun.

Queen gets behind the camera on set of ITV police drama
The Queen took charge of a clapperboard as she helped out with the filming of Trigger Point, the ITV police drama, during a visit to its set in London. Her Majesty also donned headphones to watch a scene being shot and revealed she was a fan of the show, having watched part of its first series. Jed Mercurio, the programme's executive producer, showed her how to use the clapperboard to mark the start of a new scene – telling her to point it at the camera while being careful not to get her fingers trapped. She then did the honours, adding: 'Trigger Point take one.' The Queen appeared fascinated by the way the show was put together, with special effects and 'bangs' added later, and expressed surprise at the 30lb weight of the bomb disposal suit worn by actress Vicky McClure, who plays explosives officer Lana Washington. Later, Her Majesty attended a reception to celebrate ITV's 70th anniversary, where she spoke with stars including Lorraine Kelly, Mary Nightingale, Ellie Simmonds and Brenda Blethyn. After cutting a cake, the Queen declared herself the network's 'greatest fan'. She added: 'I'd like to say a very very happy 70th birthday to all of you. I'm a bit older and I do remember ITV starting on those very old televisions in those days ... I do remember the excitement of suddenly having another channel. 'To watch how you've gone from there, how much you've appealed to the nation is absolutely brilliant.' Earlier, the Queen was met on the set, at Brent Cross Civic Centre, by Dame Carolyn McCall, ITV's chief executive, and Mr Mercurio. She was then introduced to members of the show's team, including actor Nabil Elouahabi, who plays Hassan Rahim in Trigger Point, and McClure, who was in costume ready to film a scene. The Queen told her: 'Lovely to meet you. You're nice and warm in your explosives officer kit. Have you enjoyed doing it?' McClure then asked the Queen if she liked the series, to which she replied: 'I have watched it ... I'm just getting through the first [series] so I've got a bit more ... But no, I think it's really good.' After being told they were filming the third series, Her Majesty replied: 'Third! Very popular.' Meanwhile, Paul Biddiss, a military adviser to the programme, showed the Queen some of the props used, including McClure's bomb suit. 'This is the lighter one,' he said, adding that one of them was 70lb. 'Lighter? Blimey!' the Queen replied. McClure said the bomb suits were difficult to walk in, adding that she felt 'a bit like Mr Soft' when wearing the heavier ones. The Queen jokingly replied: 'Like a robot.' The actress added: 'They are comfortable when you're not moving. When I lie on the floor it's quite nice.' The Queen asked: 'What happens when you get up?' 'I struggle,' McClure said as she laughed. Her Majesty said she would 'watch that with interest,' adding: 'At least you get a sense of what these heroes do.' Gesturing to Mr Biddiss, a Parachute Regiment veteran, she added: 'Because they are the real heroes. They do an incredible job.' The Queen then took a seat in a production tent and was given some headphones to watch a scene as it was filmed. Mr Mercurio told her that special effects depicting a balcony being blown up would be added afterwards. 'You'll have to use your imagination, ma'am,' he said. 'So you're not going to have the actual explosion?' the Queen asked. 'If we do, it's nothing to do with us,' he joked. Her Majesty watched a monitor as McClure was filmed arriving in a van before sprinting towards a building. When a member of the production crew shouted 'Bang!' McClure dropped to the ground. 'I was all ready for the bang,' the Queen told Mark Robinson, a visual effects supervisor. 'She's [McClure] not only got that appallingly heavy suit on, she's got a backpack as well.' The Queen was told that other parts of the scene would be filmed next week in Osterley, west London. 'It's so clever,' she said. 'Like a sort of jigsaw puzzle.'

Queen tries her hand as camera assistant on crime drama as ITV marks anniversary
The Queen tried her hand at being a camera assistant when she took charge of the clapperboard on the set of an ITV crime drama. Camilla was welcomed to the set of Trigger Point, which was being filmed on location at Brent Cross Civic Centre in north-west London, where she met Dame Carolyn McCall, the chief executive of ITV, and Trigger Point's executive producer Jed Mercurio. Meeting actress Vicky McClure, who was kitted out as her character Lana Washington, an explosives officer in the Metropolitan Police, the Queen asked her what it was like to wear the bomb suits. 'It's very safe and warm,' McClure told Camilla. 'I have watched some of the first series,' the Queen told McClure, who is also an executive producer on the show. 'I think it's brilliant.' The Queen was invited to the set and later to meet some of ITV's biggest names at a reception to mark the broadcaster's 70th year. Camilla commended ITV and said she is its 'greatest fan'. 'As your greatest fan, I'd like to say a very, very happy 70th birthday to all of you,' she told a room full of ITV broadcasters, reality stars and executives. 'I'm a little bit older and I do remember ITV starting on those very early televisions. 'But I do remember the excitement of suddenly having another channel to watch, and how you've gone from there, how much you've appealed to the nation, it's absolutely brilliant. 'So I hope for the next 70 years you'll go on getting bigger and better.' Earlier, Paul Biddiss, military adviser on the set, showed Camilla the bomb suits, including a 30lb one. 'Some of the suits Vicky has worn have been 70lbs,' he said. 'You feel a bit like Mr Soft,' McClure joked. The Queen was then taken into a production tent to watch the team in action while a scene was filmed. McClure was seen running out of a bomb disposal vehicle and up some stairs before a director shouted 'bang'. Mark Robinson, a video special effects supervisor on set, told Camilla about how special effects would be added to the scene afterwards, including a bomb exploding on a balcony. 'It's without a bang,' the Queen said. 'I was all ready for the bang.' Camilla was visibly impressed by McClure's acting and said: 'She's not only got that appallingly heavy suit on but also that backpack as well.' With Mercurio, the Queen tried her hand at using the clapperboard. As she snapped the clapper sticks shut, Camilla said: 'Trigger Point, take one.' She then met stars behind and in front of the cameras at ITV, including Brenda Blethyn, who starred in crime drama series Vera as Detective Chief Inspector Vera Stanhope, and Monica Dolan, who played Jo Hamilton in Mr Bates Vs The Post Office. Love Island star-turned-documentary maker Olivia Attwood told Camilla: 'The wonderful team at ITV have looked after me for the last five years.' Ellie Simmonds, retired Paralympic swimmer, told the Queen about her documentary Finding My Secret, covering her attempts to find her birth mother because she was adopted as a child. Camilla met journalists at ITV, including Mary Nightingale, the broadcaster's longest serving news presenter, and Charlene White. Nightingale said she and the Queen chatted about the busy news agenda and how it has changed in the 35 years since she started. 'We were discussing as well how ITV News always tries to have a positive story at the end of the bulletin, just to lift people,' Nightingale said. 'And she said 'Yes, I think that's so important to have something positive, because otherwise it's just all too depressing.' 'She's (Camilla) very warm and interested and gives the impression that she's engaged and actually watches the programme. It's very nice.' She met broadcasters on ITV's daytime shows, including Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid, Lorraine Kelly, Dr Hilary Jones, Christine Lampard and Dermot O'Leary. Seb Hutchinson, a commentator for women's football, said he told the Queen about his role. 'She said the rise of the women's game has been great to see and to see these faces you wouldn't have known maybe a decade or so ago,' Hutchinson said. After meeting everyone, the Queen cut a clapperboard-shaped cake and Dame Carolyn gave a speech to mark ITV's 70th year after the broadcaster, the UK's first commercial TV network, was launched in September 1955. In a speech, the ITV chief executive commended the royal for her recent documentary Behind Closed Doors, in which Camilla spoke to survivors of domestic abuse. 'The documentary clearly showed your own commitment, your personal commitment, to raising awareness in your words of this heinous crime,' Dame Carolyn said. The Queen earlier spoke to Eden Taylor-Draper and James Chase, actors who were in a domestic abuse storyline in Emmerdale. Taylor-Draper said the Queen told her she had not seen Emmerdale before but began watching it to see the domestic abuse story unfold. 'We are incredibly proud of the strong relationship we have with the royal family,' Dame Carolyn said.
