Harry Potter dragon hits London streets stunning locals
The 25-foot-long animatronic creature appeared 'captured' in chains, snarling past iconic landmarks like Westminster Bridge and King's Cross Station. The theatrical stunt was staged to mark the launch of 'Triwizard Tournament – Making of Champions', a new feature at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of the cinematic release of Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire. (Image: Simon Jacobs/PinPep) The Hungarian Horntail, which weighs in at a hefty 1.3 tonnes, recreates the jaw-dropping moment in the fan-favourite film, where Harry battles the beast in the first task of the 'Triwizard Tournament'. Replicating the drama of the film, the dragon's chained journey mimicked its on-screen escape before heading back to Warner Bros. Studio Tour via the Houses of Parliament and a quick pitstop at St. Pancras. Designed by Harry Potter filmmaker and animatronic designer Joe Scott, the lifelike creature features a moving head, mouth and eyes, and sound effects. Crafted over 750 hours, the dragon includes a 3D printed head, 25kg of fibreglass, and 119 hand-applied spikes. Its menacing mouth is lined with 38 resin-printed teeth, recreating the film's fearsome look in painstaking detail. Scott drew on original sketches, CGI mock-ups and scans of the original movie model to guide the design process. He said: 'Revisiting the creation of the Hungarian Horntail 20 years on from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire has been magical. 'Creating the dragons for the Triwizard Tournament was no mean feat, with engineers, animatronics, designers and the special effects teams all working together to bring them to life. 'It's fantastic to see the craftsmanship that went into this on display at the new feature - inspiring visitors with the magic of our filmmaking secrets.' The Triwizard Tournament – Making of Champions exhibit will run from 15 May to 8 September 2025 at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter. Fans will be transported behind the scenes of the iconic Triwizard Tournament, discovering how the thrilling magical challenges were brought to life. The Studio Tour's new summer feature invites visitors into the all-new Backlot Stage to explore the Secrets of Special Effects. The dedicated indoor space includes a digital screen, tiered seating and live demonstrations revealing how filmmakers created the magic. Among the highlights is a reimagining of the Beauxbaton and Durmstrang students' arrivals, complete with costumes and choreography. Michael McIntyre attends Warner Bros Studio Tour just hours after dismayed comedian watched his beloved £195,000 Mercedes get TOWED in Kensington
Michael McIntyre looked in great spirits as he attended the launch of a brand-new feature at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London on Wednesday - just hours after his luxury sports car was towed in High Street Kensington. The comedian, 49, joined pal Roman Kemp, 32, along with Made In Chelsea stars Tristan Phipps and Julia Pollard, to celebrate the opening of the major new attraction: The Triwizard Tournament - Making of Champions. The new feature unveils the British filmmaking secrets behind Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire, offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at how the fourth film in the series was brought to life. To kick off the celebrations, Michael, Roman, and England women's rugby star Maud Muir, 23, were treated to theatrical Beauxbatons and Durmstrang performances, reenacting their iconic entrances to the Hogwarts Great Hall. The trio then approached the legendary Goblet of Fire to submit their names, mirroring the brave champions from the film. For the event, Michael looked dapper in a dark blue suit paired with a pale pink shirt. The star beamed from ear-to-ear as he posed up a storm in the elegantly decorated Gryffindor common room. Meanwhile, Roman opted for a more relaxed look, wearing a white ribbed T-shirt and black drawstring trousers as he caught up with his friend. Comedian Henry Rowley also attended the event and was wowed by the impressive displays at the newly revealed Backlot Stage, where fans can explore special effects techniques - from the creation of the Hungarian Horntail dragon to how filmmakers depicted Harry Potter holding his breath underwater. Later, Michael and Roman explored the splendour of the Great Hall, where they were welcomed by fan-favourite characters Mad-Eye Moody and wizarding journalist Rita Skeeter, best known for her poison pen articles. Elsewhere, Maud Muir took a daring walk through the Forbidden Forest, where Hagrid's dramatic reveal of the first Triwizard Tournament task to Harry Potter has now been recreated. Open to the public from May 15 to September 8, the immersive new feature grants fans exclusive access to the Backlot Stage for the first time. The indoor venue includes a digital screen, stage, and tiered seating, offering a deep dive into how the action-packed tournament scenes were brought to life. The launch coincides with the 20th anniversary of The Goblet of Fire, marked by a month-long celebration. Earlier this week, Londoners were left spellbound as a 'captured' 25-foot-long Hungarian Horntail dragon roamed the capital before returning safely to its rightful home at the Studio Tour. Weighing 1.3 tonnes, the animatronic creature recreates the nail-biting scene where the dragon breaks free of its chains during the tournament's first task - and will embark on a UK tour throughout May. Michael's appearance at the event comes hours after he was photographed speaking to an official as his high-end £195,000 sports car was hoisted onto the back of a lorry with its wheels clamped. The comedian looked unimpressed as he had an animated discussion with an official, who wore a yellow hi-vis jacket as builders watched on. The funnyman looked dapper in a navy suit and pink shirt while he sported his signature square glasses for his unfortunate outing into the city. Michael's vehicle, a Mercedes-AMG GT R, had been hoisted onto the back of a tow truck as it was moved from the street. The TV star's vehicle was towed after it was parked in a parking bay reserved for police vehicles. MailOnline has contacted Michael's representatives for comment. Michael's specific car model retails for anywhere between £155,000 to £195,000 and boasts a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. The limited-edition vehicle can produce 585 horsepower and can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.6 seconds, with a limit just shy of 200mph. It is not his first car from the German automotive brand, as he also owned a dark blue Mercedes AMG GT, which he purchased back in 2014. The $144,000 motor boasted some very lavish features, including climate control, leather upholstery and parking assistance with a 360-degree camera. It also boasts full LED headlamps, alloy wheels of at least 20 inches and heated front and rear seats. Michael has long boasted a luxury collection of cars and has also owned expensive vehicles, including a Ferrari and a Jaguar, over the years. The stand-up comic has also been spotted driving a £150,000 Ferrari California, which has a top speed of 193mph and can do 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds. Back in 2010, Michael also purchased a £80,000 Jaguar XK convertible to ferry himself around the country. The supercar has a V8 5.0 litre engine and can go from 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. His top-of-the-range line-up of cars is also said to include a BMW X5 and a Porsche Cayenne. Michael has previously told how he and his wife Kitty spent years living in rented flats and at one point were £40,000 in debt before he found national fame as a comedian. Now, Michael is said to have a staggering net worth of £80million and also owns at least two multi-million-pound properties in the UK.
