Prince George's new birthday portrait has royal fans all pointing out the same thing
Every year, fans of the royal family look forward to one of the members celebrating a birthday – as it means a new portrait will be unveiled on social media and to the press. Today, Prince George's 12th birthday, is no exception, as the Prince and Princess of Wales have shared a photo of their eldest child leaning against a gate and smiling in a lush outdoor setting. The picture, taken by Josh Shinner, who has produced plenty of other special shots for the family (including their black and white group portrait released last Christmas), has been met with delight by fans – all of whom are pointing out the exact same thing about the image of the future King. On the Prince and Princess of Wales' official Instagram account, the photo was shared along with the caption: "Happy 12th Birthday to Prince George! 🎂 📸 @joshshinner" In response, followers have all been pointing out just how grown-up the young royal suddenly looks, with many reminiscing about how quickly the time has flown since his birth was announced. "How is he 12 already?????," wrote one person, racking up a ton of likes in agreement, while another said, "Happy Birthday to our little (not so little anymore 🥺) Future King💙👑🤴🏻." A third chimed in with, "Happy 12th Birthday to Prince George! 🎂. It feels like just yesterday he was a toddler 🥺💙" and another commented, "Warmest wishes on the birthday of Prince George. What a fine young man he's become — handsome, poised, and full of quiet confidence. Such a lovely photo of our young Prince, with that charming smile of his. Wishing him every happiness for the year ahead 🥳🎊🥹🩵!!." Given that George is now getting a little older, his parents, Prince William and Princess Catherine, have been slowly exposing him more to a life of public service and duties, which he'll be undertaking as an adult, allowing him to make a few more appearances at sporting events. Recently, Prince George and his sister, Princess Charlotte, accompanied their parents to Wimbledon, and George has also been seen with his father at football matches. All three of the Wales children waved to gathered crowds from the balcony of Buckingham Palace back in June as part of the Trooping of the Colour ceremony too, a special event to celebrate the King's birthday. Inside Kate Middleton's Secret Healing Regimen After Going to ‘Hell & Back' With Cancer
Kate Middleton is taking it one day at a time. The Princess of Wales is relishing in her favorite activities to slowly ease her back into royal duties after she announced she's in remission from cancer. Kate Middleton has been immersing herself in her beloved hobbies of photography, cooking, and music to help pass time and the recovery process. 'Princess Catherine has been recuperating behind the scenes,' royal expert Neil Sean told Fox News. 'This includes a return to ballet with her daughter Princess Charlotte, a massive return to daily nature walks, as well as [keeping up with] her photography hobby.' More from StyleCaster Kate Middleton Suffers Devastating Loss After Revealing She Still Can't 'Function Normally' After Her Cancer Diagnosis William & Kate's Friends Reveal the 'Only Solution' for Their Feud With Harry & Meghan: 'It's Worked Before...' 'An excellent source told me she is living in the moment and has no time for drama… or difficult family members,' the royal expert claimed. 'She attended Trooping of the Colour and the Order of the Garter but felt it was too much to attend Royal Ascot. She felt exhausted. This is normal… regarding her return after cancer.'Kate was diagnosed with an unidentified form of cancer early last year, and has since announced that she's in remission as of January 2025. She has slowly reentered her public duties. An insider told the Daily Mail in June 2025 that Kate went 'to hell and back' with her cancer diagnosis, and is still a 'work in progress' amid her recovery. The experience has given her a lot of 'mental clarity' around her priorities as a member of the British royal family. She announced her last-minute absence from the Royal Ascot as it was the third royal duty she had to attend that week. 'You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment,' she recalled about her cancer journey while visiting Colchester Hospital in Essex on July 1. 'Treatment's done, then it's like, 'I can crack on, get back to normal,' but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult.' 'You're not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you're not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to,' she added. 'And actually, someone to help talk you through that, show you and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment, I think is really valuable.' Music was also a healing factor for Kate, and she shares her talent with her family. 'One thing that she also does every single day, which she describes as the best therapy known to her, is her return to playing the piano,' Sean added. He also elaborated that William enjoys the music and she gets 'at least one hour a day lost in the beauty of [the piano], playing everything from Kate Bush to Mendelssohn.' Cooking not only serves as a way to nourish her family's bellies, but it's also a 'therapeutic act' for her. 'Catherine's other passion has been returning her home cooking, particularly her chutney and her specialty honey from her beehive,' the source elaborated to Sean. 'You lose yourself in the art of cooking, and it's something you can share with the children, family and friends while talking about all manner of things with zero pressure.' Royal experts have praised Kate's ability to balance family life, self-care, and her royal duties. It has 'rendered her as ever more vital, as well as a highly respected member of the royal family,' Hilary Fordwich told the outlet. 'She embodies qualities admired by the British public… [And she has] a quiet resilience that's essential to the monarchy's future.' Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info The Princess of Wales is renowned for her enthusiastic participation in a wide range of activities during her Royal engagements. Whether it's an event involving children or sports, Kate is always ready to join in, from sprinting and gardening to playing hockey and practising taekwondo. She also never fails to impress with her fashion choices at public appearances – her striking aquamarine Catherine Walker dress coat, complete with ivory contrast lapels and cuffs, turned heads at the Trooping of the Colour. Complementing her outfit was a matching wide-brimmed hat by Juliette Botterill, which she wore while seated next to Princess Charlotte in the carriage procession. Additionally, she sported the Irish Guards Regimental Brooch on her jacket. READ MORE - Meghan Markle confirms simple way she keeps Archie and Lilibet 'grounded' READ MORE - Princess Anne's carriage drama at Royal Ascot as aides 'rush in to help' Maintaining such an active lifestyle and impeccable appearance requires a nutritious diet, and Kate is known for her preference for a Mediterranean diet. This diet focuses on plant-based foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and legumes, as well as moderate amounts of lean protein from fish and poultry, low-fat dairy products, and healthy fats such as olive oil, while limiting red meat and sweets. Moreover, Kate is said to "love" preparing roast chicken for family meals and has a fondness for spicy vegetable curries, reports Cambridgeshire Live. Kate is known for her love of high-impact weight training workouts, and she exercises daily without a personal trainer, ensuring she gets enough protein for maximum benefits. Nikkita Hope-Brown, a certified PT and owner of Found, a women-only strength training studio in London, told HELLO: "You cannot build muscle without the building blocks, which is protein." She explained: "To give a metaphor, proteins are the bricks that makeup the wall, and strength training is the actual bricklaying. You cannot build a house without the actual bricks or someone doing the work of laying the bricks - you need to have both. How much protein we need depends on our goals and body, for muscle growth, typically 1.5 - 2g of protein for every kilogram we weigh." Fitness coach and founder of Owning Your Menopause, Kate Rowe-Ham, echoed this sentiment: "You can't out-train a poor diet. Muscles are built in the gym but need to recover and transform in the kitchen. To support muscle growth and recovery, it is essential to consume a high-protein diet, especially after a workout." Kate advised: "Include whole foods rich in fibre, healthy fats, and complex carbs to fuel your workouts and stabilise hormones." The Royal is reportedly a fan of starting her day with a green smoothie, much like Meghan Markle, her sister-in-law. This healthful concoction typically includes spinach, kale, blueberries and matcha. She's also known to kick-start her mornings with a bowl of slow-burning energy oats, or rolled oats, which she often pairs with milk or yoghurt, adding fruits, nuts, cinnamon, and nut butter for extra flavour. Her midday meals usually comprise salads and fruit bowls, with an emphasis on foods that enhance skin health, such as watermelon salads and gazpacho. An afternoon pick-me-up might be berries blended with almond milk, and she generally prefers lighter meals during the day. According to the Daily Mail, Kate has a penchant for raw dishes like watermelon salads, gazpacho, goji berries, tabbouleh and ceviche due to their skincare benefits. However, when it comes to dinner, she enjoys heartier, traditional English fare such as big roasts and curries. Here's a glimpse into Kate's daily food routine:. Breakfast: A staple green smoothie blending kale, spinach, spirulina, matcha, romaine lettuce, cilantro, and blueberries, or alternatively, a bowl of slow-burn energy oats. Lunch: Salads and fruit bowls are favourites, with a special focus on skin-beneficial foods like watermelon salads, gazpacho, and tabbouleh. Ceviche is also a preferred choice. Dinner: While she leans towards lighter meals during the day, Kate relishes traditional English meals or carb-rich options for tea, such as roast dinners and curries. Snacks: Olives and popcorn are said to be her go-to snacks. Beverages: She's a fan of smoothies, and is also known to sip on ginger tea.

Trooping the Colour: Royal Family Photos Through the Years
For years, tradition has been a vital part of the royal family. Among them is the Trooping the Colour, a military ceremony that has marked the celebration of the sovereign's birthday for more than 250 years. The ceremony has been a staple of the royal family since the 1800s, but it was only within the last several decades that royal fans and the monarchy's subjects got a glimpse of the royal family. That's right, we're talking about those iconic photos of members of the House of Windsor gathered on Buckingham Palace's balcony for photo ops, waving to the crowd, and watching the entire spectacle of Trooping the Colour unfold (if you've ever wondered why they're all looking up, by the way — it's to watch a fly-past of the Royal Air Force). Over the years, there've been some adorable snapshots of young Princes William and Harry — who could forget when Prince Harry stuck his tongue out when mom Princess Diana was holding him in 1988? But these photos have also served as a sort of time capsule, capturing the royal family and its prominent members year after year. As we eagerly await this year's Trooping the Colour ceremony, take a look at photos from Trooping the Colour ceremonies past below! A version of this article was originally published in June 2022. More from SheKnows Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Reportedly Sticking By Close Ally Princess Eugenie During Platinum Jubilee Visit Best of SheKnows Every Look Kate Middleton Has Worn to Trooping the Colour Since 2011 The Quickest Breakups in 'Bachelor' & 'Bachelorette' History All the Bachelor & Bachelorette Couples Who Are Still Together Not only did 2024 give us another iconic balcony shot, but this was the first appearance Kate Middleton has made in six months. A few months earlier, in March, the Princess had announced her cancer diagnosis and revealed she was undergoing treatment. In June, after the Trooping the Colour, she announced she was in remission. We adore this snapshot of the family at the 2023 Trooping the Colour parade. This was the first Trooping of the Colour since King Charles III ascended the throne following Queen Elizabeth's death on Sept. 8, 2022. Once again, the Wales children steal the show with their funny reactions! At the 2022 Trooping the Colour, the late Queen Elizabeth perfectly matched with her great-grandkids Prince Louis, Princess Charlotte and Prince George, in baby blue. This was her last Trooping the Colour before her death on Sept. 8, 2022. 2020 was much of the same. At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Trooping the Colour was canceled once again. Queen Elizabeth II marked her birthday with another small military ceremony at Windsor Castle. In 2019, Queen Elizabeth II was able to have the full parade and Trooping the Colour ceremony for her birthday. She was joined by a number of members of her family. 2019 also saw the entire Cambridge family enjoy the parade! And just look at Charlotte and Louis practicing their waves. 2019 also marked the last Trooping of the Colour as senior members of the royal family for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. At the time, Markle had just given birth to her son Archie, who was born on May 6. The couple left their royal duties in January 2020. Meghan Markle only attended two Trooping the Colour ceremonies during her time as a senior member of the royal family. Here she is chatting with sister-in-law Kate Middleton at the 2018 Trooping the Colour. The entire royal family gathered for the 2018 Trooping the Colour on Buckingham Palace's iconic balcony. Goodness, that's a lot of members of the House of Windsor! In 2017, the family was back on the balcony, this time with little Princess Charlotte and Prince George! George was obviously working on that wave. Here we have another snapshot of the royals during the 2016 Trooping the Colour. Princess Charlotte was just 13 months old at the time. Back in 2015, a little Prince George got to enjoy one of his first of many Trooping the Colour ceremonies! In this 2014 photo from Trooping the Colour, nearly all the prominent members of the royal family can be seen — with Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip at the front, of course. Queen Elizabeth II looked so elegant in her royal blue for Trooping the Colour in 2013. At the time, Middleton was eight months pregnant with her first son, Prince George. In this 2012 photo, all eyes were looking up during Trooping the Colour as the Royal Air Force flew past Buckingham Palace. Pictured here is Kate Middleton, Prince William, Princess Eugenie, Prince Harry and Princess Beatrice. In 2011, we really got to see just how many members of the royal family there are. This was just a few months after Middleton and Prince William tied the knot on April 29, 2011. Queen Elizabeth II broke out the pastels for 2010's Trooping the Colour, wearing a lovely lavender hue. In 2009, practically every member of the royal family was in attendance for Trooping the Colour. Look closely and you can see Queen Elizabeth II waving! Although things didn't look quite as bright and sun shiny in 2008, the royals nevertheless made their way to the balcony of Buckingham Palace for Trooping the Colour. In 2007, the family chatted amongst themselves during the Trooping the Colour ceremony. By 2006, everyone was looking up on the Buckingham Palace balcony to watch a fly-past by the Royal Air Force. This 2005 photo feels like a major throwback. Can you spot Prince William (and his full head of hair)? 2004 gave us this snapshot of a smaller party for the Trooping the Colour ceremony. Taking a break from balcony duty, Prince Harry and Prince William rode in a carriage together for the 2003 Trooping the Colour. Queen Elizabeth II gave fans a royal wave in this 2002 photo. In 2001, Queen Elizabeth II's mother, known as the Queen Mum, made an appearance at Trooping the Colour. Queen Mum passed away before the 2002 Trooping of the Colour, on March 30, 2002. Queen Elizabeth II rode solo in this 2000 photo after Trooping the Colour. It was practically all smiles on the Buckingham Palace balcony in this photo from the 1999 Trooping the Colour. Pictured here are the Duchess of Edinburgh, Prince Edward, Rear-admiral Timothy Laurence and Princess Anne. Queen Elizabeth II directed everyone's gaze upward in this 1998 photo from Trooping the Colour. Queen Elizabeth II looked like she was having a jolly good time in this photo from the 1993 Trooping the Colour. Nearly every royal lady brought out her best hat for 1992's Trooping the Colour. This was the late Princess Diana's last Trooping of the Colour. She and King Charles separated in 1992 and divorced four years later in 1996. Who could forget this iconic photo of Prince Harry being oh so cheeky at the 1988 Trooping the Colour? Princess Diana stood next to Queen Elizabeth II in this photo from 1987's Trooping the Colour. In this 1986 snapshot from Trooping the Colour, Prince Charles and Princess Diana can be seen anxiously watching over one of their boys. In this 1985 photo from Trooping the Colour, Prince Charles expertly holds son Prince Harry, giving mom Princess Diana a bit of a reprieve. Princes Charles was back on dad duty in this 1984 Trooping the Colour photo, too! Queen Elizabeth II had a bit of a giggle in this 1983 Trooping the Colour photo. Princess Anne, Princess Diana, and Prince Charles chatted together in this 1981 photo taken during Trooping the Colour. This was the late Princess Diana's first Trooping of the Colour.
