Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.15% in a weak market
Stocks in focus: RIL, Tata Motors, Infosys, IIFL Securities, Apollo Hospitals, Punjab National Bank, NBCC and more.. Synopsis The Nifty Bank index was trading 0.15 per cent down at 55462.35. NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index traded negative around 11:04AM(IST)on Friday in a weak market. ADVERTISEMENT Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(up 0.66 per cent), HDFC Bank Ltd.(up 0.13 per cent) and ICICI Bank Ltd.(up 0.04 per cent) were among the top gainers. IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 0.99 per cent), Canara Bank(down 0.94 per cent), Punjab National Bank(down 0.81 per cent), Axis Bank Ltd.(down 0.74 per cent) and State Bank of India(down 0.39 per cent) were the top losers on the index. The Nifty Bank index was down 0.15 per cent at 55462.35 at the time of writing this report. Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 69.5 points at 24764.1, while the BSE Sensex was down 215.8 points at 81417.22. Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 13 were trading in the green, while 37 were in the red. ADVERTISEMENT Shares of Suzlon Energy, Vodafone Idea, Reliance Power, MMTC and Ola Electric Mobilit were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of Lumax Auto Tech, Venus Remedies, BSE, INEOS Styrolution and Shaily Engg Plastics hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Career Point, Navkar Builders, California Soft(PP), Signpost India and Borana Weaves hit fresh 52-week lows in trade. EIL Q4 Results: Profit rises two-and-half times to Rs 243 crore
Engineers India posted robust Q4 earnings, aided by a write-back and cost control, with FY25 profit hitting a 10-year high despite lower annual revenue. Synopsis Engineers India Ltd reported a 2.5x jump in Q4FY25 profit to ₹243 crore, driven by operational efficiencies and a write-back of ₹82 crore. Annual profit rose 30% to ₹465 crore, despite a 6% decline in revenue. Engineers India Ltd (EIL) reported a two-and-a-half times jump in profit to ₹243 crore in the January–March quarter, up from ₹91 crore a year earlier. ADVERTISEMENT Revenue from operations rose 25% to ₹991 crore during the quarter. Total expenses fell 3% to ₹708 crore, as the company had registered 'other expenses' of ₹88 crore in the year-ago quarter, compared to ₹6 crore in the March quarter. The company wrote back ₹82 crore during the March quarter following the settlement of a performance obligation with a client in the consultancy and engineering projects segment. EIL shares closed 2.8% higher at ₹217.45 apiece on Thursday, when the benchmark Sensex rose 0.4%. The company declared a dividend of ₹2 per for the full year 2024–25 rose 30% to ₹465 crore, the highest in a decade, due to operational efficiencies, EIL chairperson Vartika Shukla said. Annual revenue, however, fell 6% to ₹3,028 company received orders worth ₹8,214 crore during 2024–25, and EIL's order book stood at ₹11,700 crore at the end of March, she said. Of the total orders received in 2024–25, 45% were from the non-oil and gas sector. Overseas orders were worth ₹1,077 crore. ADVERTISEMENT EIL is planning to enter the defence sector, initially focusing on process-related technologies, a familiar area for the company, Shukla company also aims to re-enter the nuclear energy sector, though progress will depend on government policy. 'It's a difficult sector to enter… We will have to build competencies,' she said. ADVERTISEMENT EIL also plans to foray into the critical minerals segment. 'We have a strategy to enter the critical minerals segment,' she added, without elaborating. Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.81% in an upbeat market
India 10-year bond yield declined 0.40 per cent to 5.98 after trading in 5.98 -6.04 range. Synopsis The Nifty IT index was trading 0.81 per cent up at 37769.9. NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded positive around 10:29AM(IST)on Thursday in an upbeat market. ADVERTISEMENT LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 2.02 per cent), Persistent Systems Ltd.(up 1.19 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(up 1.18 per cent), Coforge Ltd.(up 0.99 per cent) and Wipro Ltd.(up 0.69 per cent) were among the top gainers. Oracle Financial Services Software Ltd.(down 0.13 per cent) were the top losers on the index. The Nifty IT index was up 0.81 per cent at 37769.9 at the time of writing this report. Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 32.55 points at 24785.0, while the BSE Sensex was up 138.72 points at 81451.04. Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 were trading in the green, while 18 were in the red. India invites BRICS nations to boost startup cooperation
India will assume the BRICS presidency in 2026. Synopsis This is the first-of-its-kind dedicated platform for BRICS nations, aimed at enhancing cross-border collaboration and strengthening startup ecosystems across member countries. New Delhi: India has invited all BRICS member countries to enhance cooperation in the startup sector to promote innovation, the commerce and industry ministry said Monday. ADVERTISEMENT It was suggested by India at the 9th BRICS Industry Ministers' meeting on May 21 at Brasilia. BRICS is an intergovernmental organisation comprising 10 countries-Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran and the UAE.
