Create Account Hey, Mark Carney, here's a novel idea. Rather than just meet with the premiers to discuss how you're going to punish Donald Trump over tariffs, which is just going to hurt Canadians, why don't you call or meet with him and negotiate a fair deal for Canada like you were elected to do. Heck, even Japan did that and got a great deal for it citizens. Mark Slobodian York (It seems Canada has put in place the wrong negotiator. Carney is going to have to pivot quickly) TRUMP WASN'T THE PROBLEM With all this talk about the tariff war and how we are led to believe that Trump is the problem, let me remind everyone (especially those with TDS – Trump Derangement Syndrome) that Canada's economy was in the toilet long before Trump even got elected president for the second time and initiated this tariff nonsense. And that, my friends, is because of the cancerous Liberal government here in Canada. Trump isn't helping matters with his tariffs, but the Liberals are 100% at fault here for the abysmal state of our economy. Not to mention the crime. That's a whole other story, and not a good one at that. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. Robert Onyskiw Etobicoke (It is worth repeating – Donald Trump being President for the last six months did not put Canada on its current ruinous economic path – that began over a decade ago under Trudeau) UNREALISTIC PLAN Israel has said that the statement by Canada and 24 other nations on the situation in Gaza and the West Bank is 'disconnected from reality.' I would prefer to say that it is unrealistic. It calls for the 'unconditional release' of hostages, as Canada has always proposed in the past. Hamas has always demanded that some Palestinian prisoners in Israeli custody also be released. It is unlikely that it will ever forgo this condition. The proposal by Canada and the other nations is idealistic and unrealistic in light of what we know about Hamas's position. White House issues intimidating statement about 'The View' being 'pulled off the air' over 'irrelevant loser' Joy Behar (exclusive)
A White House spokesperson exclusively responded to EW after Behar's criticism alleged Trump is "jealous of Obama" because president isn't "trim" or "happily married." After The View cohosts clocked Donald Trump's potential jealousy meter amid the president's recent criticism of Barack Obama, the White House issued an intimidating statement to Entertainment Weekly referencing the potential for the talk show to be "pulled off the air." In the aftermath of Trump making a shocking allegation Tuesday that Obama "was trying to lead a coup" in the past — which even prompted a rare response from the former president — Whoopi Goldberg introduced a Hot Topic on Wednesday's episode in observance of the strange development. Joy Behar then jumped in with a criticism of her own, saying, "First of all, who tried to overthrow the government on Jan. 6. Who was that again? That was not Obama," referencing the deadly Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection on the United States Capitol, which mostly supporters of Trump participated in. Behar continued, "The thing about him is he's so jealous of Obama, because Obama is everything that he is not: Trim, smart, handsome, happily married, and can sing Al Green's song 'Let's Stay Together' better than Al Green. And Trump cannot stand it. It's driving him crazy." In response, White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers tells EW in an email statement that "Joy Behar is an irrelevant loser suffering from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome," and claimed that the show has "hit the lowest ratings" in recent years. The statement continued, adding that Behar "should self-reflect on her own jealousy of President Trump's historic popularity before her show is the next to be pulled off air." When reached for comment, a View spokesperson did not address Rogers' statement, but did respond to claims about the show's ratings, pointing to figures noting that The View "is up in total viewers and women 18-49, versus the comparable weeks last season, to its most-watched in four years" and "season to date, The View is ranking No. 1 in households and total viewers among all network daytime talk shows and news programs for the fifth straight season." The statement comes amid Stephen Colbert's The Late Show being canceled amid CBS parent company Paramount Global's pending sale to Skydance Media, which needs approval by the Federal Communications Commission to move forward. FCC chair Brendan Carr later said on X that "the partisan left's ritualist wailing and gnashing of teeth over Colbert is quite revealing," adding that "they're acting like they're losing a loyal DNC spokesperson that was entitled to an exemption from the laws of economics." Elsewhere on Wednesday's episode of The View, Behar later suggested that Obama should sue Trump, while legal expert Sunny Hostin also weighed in to echo the comedian's sentiment. "I agree with you on that," Hostin said. "Obama still lives rent-free in his head. I think Michelle Obama still lives rent-free in his head, I think the fact that Malia graduated from Harvard still lives rent-free in his head, and it's just the very swag that Obama has that he will never have." Following Trump's remarks about a coup, Obama's team issued a statement to the New York Times in which he firmly opposed Trump's words. 'These bizarre allegations are ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction,' said Patrick Rodenbush, a spokesman for Obama, to the publication. Rodenbush added, 'Nothing in the document issued last week undercuts the widely accepted conclusion that Russia worked to influence the 2016 presidential election but did not successfully manipulate any votes." The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. PT on ABC. Watch Trump accuse Obama of treason in the video above. Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly

The White House is feuding with ‘The View.' Here's why.
From late-night show hosts to the animated sitcom South Park, the feud between President Donald Trump and the entertainment industry shows no signs of slowing down. Now the administration finds itself in a dispute with ABC's 'The View' after a White House spokesperson suggested the long-time talk show could be coming to an end. The comment comes after CBS canceled late-night comedy 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert' after 33 years, a decision Trump celebrated on social media. During a July 23 episode, co-host Joy Behar said Trump is jealous of former President Barack Obama because 'Obama is everything that he is not.' She added that, unlike Trump, Obama is 'trim, smart, handsome, happily married, and can sing Al Green's song 'Let's Stay Together' better than Al Green. And Trump cannot stand it. It's driving him crazy.' Following the dig, White House Assistant Press Secretary Taylor Rogers referred to Behar as 'an irrelevant loser suffering from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.' 'It's no surprise that The View's ratings hit an all-time low last year. She should self-reflect on her own jealousy of President Trump's historic popularity before her show is the next to be pulled off air,' Rogers said in a statement. USA TODAY has reached out to representatives of 'The View' for comment on Rogers' statement. When asked for a comment on behalf of Behar, her manager Bill Stankey told USA TODAY, 'On behalf of me……..Release the Epstein files.' In May, Attorney General Pam Bondi had reportedly told Trump that his name appears several times throughout the criminal case files on the late financier and convicted sex offender Epstein, according to CNN and the Wall Street Journal. How did this start? The latest tension between the White House and 'The View' started after an Oval Office meeting with Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos on July 22, when Trump accused Obama of treason. The president called the Democrat a 'ringleader,' adding that his actions were 'seditious.' Later that day, Obama addressed a July 18 report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence that claimed the former president 'manufactured and politicized intelligence to lay the groundwork for what was essentially a years-long coup' against Trump's presidential victory against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2016. Obama also said he supported the U.S. intelligence community's conclusion that Russia tried to influence the 2016 election. He dismissed the allegations against him, calling them the typical 'nonsense and misinformation' emerging from the Trump White House. On the next morning's episode of 'The View,' Behar defended Obama with a sly remark against Trump regarding the Capitol insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021. 'First of all, who tried to overthrow the government on Jan. 6? Who was that again? That was not Obama,' she quipped. Late-night talk show hosts also make jabs at Trump Before the beef with Behar, Trump was at odds with his usual late-night foes, starting with Colbert, who during a July 17 episode announced that 'The Late Show' would be ending in May 2026. 'I absolutely love that Colbert' got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings,' Trump wrote on Truth Social July 18. He later made a jab at ABC's Jimmy Kimmel, insinuating that his show would be the next to end and that he 'has even less talent than Colbert.' Kicking off his July 21 episode monologue, Colbert asked, 'How dare you, sir?' 'Would an untalented man be able to compose the following satirical witticism? Go (expletive) yourself,' Colbert said. Trump fired back on a July 22 Truth Social post, writing: 'The word is, and it's a strong word at that, Jimmy Kimmel is NEXT to go in the untalented Late Night Sweepstakes and, shortly thereafter, (Jimmy) Fallon will be gone.' 'These are people with absolutely NO TALENT, who were paid Millions of Dollars for, in all cases, destroying what used to be GREAT Television. It's really good to see them go, and I hope I played a major part in it!' the president wrote. Fallon's show is slated to continue until at least the end of 2028 when his contract with NBCUniversal ends. In 2022, Kimmel extended his contract through his show's current 23rd season. Is The View being canceled? Joy Behar's ‘hiatus' remark fuels speculation
A recent on-air remark from The View co-host Joy Behar has stirred speculation about the future of the long-running daytime talk show. The View co-host Joy Behar said the show is about to go on 'hiatus."(X) What did Joy Behar say? During Thursday's episode, the 82-year-old co-host casually mentioned that the show is about to go on 'hiatus,' prompting viewers to question whether it might be canceled. 'Before we go on hiatus, we only have one more show after this,' Behar said, before glancing off-camera and asking, 'I'm allowed to say that, right?' Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin joked in response, 'Too late now." Is The View being canceled? Despite the online chatter, Behar's comment appears to refer to the show's annual summer break, not a cancellation. At the end of the episode, co-host Whoopi Goldberg reassured viewers that The View would return for a new season in September. The show often takes a short hiatus around the Fourth of July, and again in late summer before launching its fall season. The hosts recently returned from a weeklong break on July 7. Online Reactions Despite this, Behar's comment sparked confusion on social media, with some viewers mistakenly interpreting the hiatus as a sign that the show is being canceled. Also Read: Jon Stewart next? Stephen Colbert's Late Night Show cancellation leads to Daily Show speculation Political backlash and timing The speculation came just a day after the White House issued a scathing statement attacking Behar. White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers criticized Behar for comments she made on Wednesday's show, where she said President Donald Trump is "jealous" of Barack Obama. "Joy Behar is an irrelevant loser suffering from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome," Rogers said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly. Rogers went on to say, "It's no surprise that "The View's" ratings hit an all-time low last year. [Behar] should self-reflect on her own jealousy of President Trump's historic popularity before her show is the next to be pulled off air."
