Gamers in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey most affected by malware campaign

Gamers in the Middle East have been heavily hit by a malware campaign that promotes fake beta versions of video games, cyber security experts have warned. Consumers in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey have been the most impacted by the campaign, according to cyber protection company Acronis. Its threat research group said malware is spreading through the use of Discord, a video, audio and texting platform popular with gamers around the world. The campaign pretends to promote beta versions of games titled Baruda Quest, Warstorm Fire and Dire Talon, but they are actually software that steals personal information and payment, login and crypto wallet data. 'This underscores the urgent need for awareness among regional gamers who are particularly active on platforms like Discord, where much of the malicious content is distributed,' Acronis said in a statement. Jozsef Gegeny, a senior researcher at the cyber security company, said that unlike most malware campaigns, this one also targets people considered to have decent technical knowledge. While corporations and organisations have ramped up cyber security, not enough of that messaging is reaching recreational technology users, he said. 'That's why it's important for the cybersecurity community to shine a light on threats that target individuals and not just corporations,' he said. 'This campaign shows that even well-informed users can be tricked.' The Middle East is particularly vulnerable to attacks due to the recent and rapid increase in video game popularity, making it one of the fastest-growing gaming markets. In 2020, the Middle East gaming industry was valued at approximately $4.8 billion, according to market research firm Newzoo. Five years later, Acronis said, that figure has climbed to more than $7 billion. In February, Power League Gaming chief executive Matthew Pickering said the region's high percentage of young people is helping the industry flourish, but it is also winning over the older demographic as a way to build confidence and sharpen analytical skills. 'Esports is now a solid career path,' he said. It is not yet clear who is responsible for spreading malware targeting the gaming community, but Acronis said it was first detected in the US and Brazil. The company added that the campaign is taking advantage of gamers' appetite to stay ahead of the curve. 'This campaign exploits the enthusiasm of the gaming community, particularly those eager to access unreleased or early-access content,' it said.

Lidya's hope and love open the door for Baran to break free from the burden of pain carried from the past and reconnect with life. As the story moves between the noise of the garage and Baran's inner silence, it invites the audience to reflect on the importance of forgiveness, self-restraint, and refusing to give up. Baran's struggle to mend his own broken soul while assembling engine parts in the garage creates a powerful, local production that will touch audiences' hearts at the end of the summer.

Tesla Faces Cash Crunch Without Tax Credits

Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) is taking another hit after those Q2 results landed with a thud. It reported net income falling 16% year-over-year, landing at $1.17 billion, down from $1.39 billion last quarter. Tesla's Q2 2025 revenue declined approximately 14.81% year-over-year, falling from $18.53 billion to $15.79 billion. Warning! GuruFocus has detected 4 Warning Signs with NVDA. Elon Musk even warned we might face a few rough quarters before we hit truly compelling economics by late next here's the kicker: without the $2.8 B in EV tax credits that kept cash flow afloat in 2024, Tesla would actually be bleeding cash. Those credits start disappearing under the Big Beautiful Bill, so margins could get tougher. On the call Musk promised autonomous ride?hailing covering half the US by year?end and pegs Optimus 3 at 100 K robots per month in five years. He also teased a cheaper Model Y in Q4, showed off record Powerwall installs and noted Model Y topped charts in Turkey, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria. Why it matters: Slowing sales and political noise are testing Tesla's mojo just as it pins its hopes on robotaxis and will be glued to TSLA's Q3 numbers in October and the rollout of those next?gen products. Turkey Legalizes Medical Cannabis Sales In Pharmacies

Photographer: Konstantinos Tsakalidis/Bloomberg Turkey has passed a landmark bill that legalizes the sale of cannabis products for medical use in pharmacies, marking a step forward in expanding patient access to such treatment. The Turkish Parliament this week approved a bill that allows the sale of cannabis-based products in pharmacies with a prescription. The bill, introduced by the Justice and Development Party (AK Party), led by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, published in the Official Gazette yesterday, regulates access to medical cannabis products that are non-intoxicating and low in THC, such as those containing CBD. It amended a number of laws, including the narcotics law and regulations related to pharmacies and shops that sell poisonous or effective chemical substances. These regulations reportedly aim to meet healthcare needs through domestic production, reduce dependence on imports, and prevent the use of unregistered products. The changes, therefore, are expected to boost the legal production of low-THC medical cannabis in Turkey. Under the new rules, the cultivation of medical cannabis will be supervised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, while processing, export, licensing, registration, and authorization for sale will fall under the oversight of the Ministry of Health. By amending the narcotics law, medical cannabis products will now be available through pharmacies. Furthermore, each product will be tracked from production or import all the way to patient use through a centralized tracking system designed to block counterfeit, smuggled, or unauthorized products from entering the legal market. The law limits medical cannabis sales to pharmacies in order to block access through unregulated retail and online markets, with the aim to protect public health and ensure product safety. Concerns Over Medical Cannabis Bill Before the bill became law, the Turkish Medical Association (TTB) criticized the proposed cannabis regulation, arguing that there is not enough scientific evidence to support the medical benefits of cannabis and warned that its widespread use could lead to serious physical and mental health risks. In December 2020, the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND), the United Nations' drug policy-making body, reclassified cannabis and cannabis resin under an international category that acknowledges their medical value. The association also urged lawmakers to remove the cannabis-related measures from the bill, which has also faced criticism from members of some opposition parties. While the new law will allow people to purchase low-THC medical cannabis products from pharmacies, easing access for treatment, cannabis remains illegal in Turkey for recreational use. In 2016, legislation allowed the use of sublingual cannabinoid medications, such as Sativex, with a doctor's prescription. The new law, however, is expected to make it easier for medical cannabis patients to obtain cannabis products from pharmacies with a prescription. This reform is also viewed as a significant step toward supporting Turkey's entry into the cannabis-based product market and boosting its international competitiveness. Turkey is, in fact, not new to cannabis cultivation, particularly hemp, which is legal in several provinces for medical and scientific purposes. According to data from TurkStat, compiled by the state-run Anadolu news agency, Turkey's cannabis seed production surged about 70% year-on-year in 2024, reaching 556 tons, up from 273 tons in 2020. Turkey now joins other European countries where medical cannabis is legal, such as Italy and Germany, which, however, allow products with higher levels of THC. Ukraine has also recently legalized medical cannabis.
