I tried own-brand Twister ice lollies – the supermarket winner impressed my kids and cost £1.29 a pack

Scroll down to read Lynsey's verdict for each pack N-ICELY DONE I tried own-brand Twister ice lollies – the supermarket winner impressed my kids and cost £1.29 a pack A PACK of ice lollies is a must in every parents' freezer over the summer. And the humble Twister has long been a family favourite, regularly topping polls as one of our top choices. 6 Lynsey Hope tested own-brand Twister ice lollies to see how they fared against Walls Credit: Oliver Dixon However a pack of six will now set you back around £3, depending on where you shop - and they're tiny! The Walls' lollies are 20ml smaller than most of the supermarket own brands. But how do they stack up on taste? Lynsey Hope investigates... Walls Twister Mini 6 The Walls Twister Minis came in second most expensive in the taste test Credit: Oliver Dixon £2.90 for 6, Sainsbury's (48.3p each) Nutrition per lolly: 39 calories, 0.5g fat, 6.5g sugar, 0.01g salt Size: 50ml I loved the flavour of these. They are a real unusual mix of strawberry, lemon and pineapple - but it works. They are quite unique and they also have ice cream rather than just pure lolly which elevates them above many of the own brands. They are not too sugary and low in fat so they are a great option for smaller children. But my 10-year-old would huff at this as it's so tiny. Costing nearly 50p each, you really don't get much for your money. Taste: 5/5 Value: 3/5 Overall score: 8/10 Asda Fruit Spiral Lollies 6 Asda's twister lollies were one of the more budget-friendly options Credit: Oliver Dixon £1.38 for 5, Asda (27.6p each) Nutrition per lolly: 46 calories, less than 0.5g fat, 8.5g sugar, less than 0.01g salt Size: 70ml A brilliant size, these look really impressive and they were quite refreshing on a hot day. However, whilst they cooled me down I felt they were a bit lacking in flavour. These need a fruity boost to make them more appealing. Sadly, although a wallet-friendly price, they weren't anything special. Taste: 3/5 Value: 3/5 Overall score: 6/10 Tesco Fruity Helter Skelters 6 Lynsey's kids were keen on Tesco's own-brand Twisters Credit: Oliver Dixon £1.29 for 5, Tesco (25.8p each) Nutrition per lolly: 48 calories, 0.2g fat, 9.6g sugar, 0.04g salt Size: 70ml These looked almost identical to the Asda lollies but they contained a tiny bit more juice and tasted a little fruitier. The kids were impressed - they were among the first to be grabbed from the ice cream draw. They are a good size and not too high in sugar. They are slightly better value than Asda too, costing just over 25p each. Plus, they didn't melt too quickly and were really refreshing in the warm weather with a lovely fruity taste. These are a great choice overall and my winner from this test. Taste: 4/5 Value: 5/5 Overall score: 9/10 M&S Super Loop Lollies 6 M&S' own-brand lollies came out most expensive in the taste test Credit: Oliver Dixon £2.50 for 5, Ocado (50p each) Nutrition per lolly: 49 calories, 0.1g fat, 9.5g sugar, 0.01g salt Size: 50ml A delicious mix of orange, pineapple and strawberry flavours, I loved these and they looked really pretty, if a little small. The fruity flavours were delicious and refreshing to eat. Sadly they are a bit pricey at 50p per lolly, which makes them more expensive than Walls and they are the same mini size. I'd have given them a better rating if they were a bit bigger. Nevertheless, they were devoured in seconds. Taste: 4/5 Value: 3/5 Overall score: 7/10 Aldi Gianni's Fruit Spiral Lollies 6 Aldi's lollies are a great cheaper option if you've got less cash spare Credit: Oliver Dixon £1.29 for 5, Aldi (25.8p each) Nutrition per lolly: 54 calories, 0.1g fat, 11g sugar, 0.02g salt Size: 70ml Aldi's spiral lollies tasted a lot fruitier than other options, with delicious notes of orange, pineapple, apple and lemon. The colours were appealing and they were a good size AND an even better price, costing just over 25p each. They did contain some glucose syrup to sweeten them up a bit but I have to say I did like the flavour. Lovely, bargain lollies and a great option for feeding the masses. Taste: 3/5 Value: 5/5 Overall score: 8/10 How to bag a bargain SUN Savers Editor Lana Clements explains how to find a cut-price item and bag a bargain… Sign up to loyalty schemes of the brands that you regularly shop with. Multiple Tornadoes Hit Texas, Disrupting Wedding and Forcing Everyone to Take Shelter (Exclusive)

One Texas couple's outdoor wedding was disrupted by a tornado warning when multiple twisters hit the area Everyone was forced to take shelter, with the wedding DJ telling PEOPLE that some guests were "raveled about the situation" Luckily, the tornadoes narrowly missed the wedding venue and the delayed ceremony was able to continue, albeit rainyOne wedding venue nearly resembled the set of Twister. When Sara Schaffner and Nikolas Crowe got married on April 4 in Tyler, Texas, they "knew there was a chance for severe weather" but hoped for the best. However, their fears came to life that afternoon when they were taking pre-ceremony photos at a chapel. The couple's wedding DJ Debbie Sallee, who is also known as Debbie The DJ, remembers tornado warnings on everyone's phones and the civil defense siren sounding off at around 3:30 p.m. "I was nervous. From the patio, you could see the clouds rotating — made me a little sick to my stomach, if I'm being honest," Sallee remembers. "The town I live in was hit 10 years ago by a tornado and barely missed our home. I think in my head, 'Would I rather it be at night when I can't see anything or as I was there in the daytime? If I saw it coming, what would I do?' " The National Weather Service reported at least six tornadoes were confirmed to have touched down that Friday in East Texas. One twister, with an estimated peak wind speed of 110 miles per hour, was on the ground for more than 20 miles. "There were several tornadoes that hit in the area, one was about 20 miles away and the other touched down just about 10 miles past where we were," Sallee says. Sallee recorded a video of the civil defense siren blaring at the wedding. In the video, the worried bride holds up her wedding dress as she walks barefoot on the wet ground outside alongside her bridesmaids. She asks, "Where are we supposed to go for a tornado warning?" Schaffner, Crowe and their wedding party "were asked to come to the reception hall." They joined their approximate 100 wedding guests and "took shelter in the bathrooms and kitchen area where there were no windows." "Some seemed a little raveled about the situation," Sallee tells PEOPLE. "Men, of course, had to stand on the patio to see if it was really happening. Most were listening to news and watching the alerts on their phones." "The bride was surprisingly calm," she adds. "Which, honestly, I think, kept everyone else calm. Nobody wants the bride panicking." The group stayed sheltered for about 20 minutes, with some men going in and out to watch the storm. "Guests were calling and notifying family that was at the venue," Sallee says. "They were also being held in safe rooms in the hotels they were staying at, and I believe someone was at a local Walmart and they were keeping them inside." is now available in the Apple App Store! Download it now for the most binge-worthy celeb content, exclusive video clips, astrology updates and more! Luckily, the "severe part" of the storm passed. It was, however, still raining during the ceremony, which was delayed for about 45 minutes so that guests who were sheltering elsewhere could make it to the wedding. "Wedding was still gorgeous and the reception was a blast," Sallee notes. Read the original article on People

New FEMA Alert Notifies Public Whenever ‘Twister' Airing On TNT

WASHINGTON—Predicting that the system would save countless Americans from missing an all-time classic, the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced the creation of a new alert Friday that would notify the public whenever the 1996 film Twister was airing on TNT. 'If Twister is playing in your area, you will receive a notification on your phone that reads 'Emergency Warning: Immediately find the nearest TV with basic cable,'' said FEMA acting administrator David Richardson, who confirmed the agency had launched the alert system in collaboration with the National Weather Service and the Helen Hunt Fan Club. 'A Twister warning means that conditions for the film are just right. For instance, if it's 1:30 p.m on a Friday, or if Angels In The Outfield was just on. A Twister watch means a promo has been spotted, and you should get yourself and your family on the sofa. Now, if you receive a notification saying there's a Twister warning? Run. That means the F5 scene is already on.' At press time, sirens across the Great Plains were blaring songs from the film's soundtrack, including Stevie Nicks' 'Twisted' and Van Halen's 'Respect The Wind.'

Leif Ove Andsnes and Bertrand Chamayou review – rewarding pairing brings intimacy and colour

Until Márta Kurtág's death in 2019, one of the most delightful musical experiences was to watch and listen to her and her composer husband György playing his piano duets – the playfulness, the quiet intimacy, the way in which the writing meant they crossed arms as if in a gentle game of Twister. But you don't have to be married to play Kurtág's duets – just generous with your personal space. Leif Ove Andsnes and Bertrand Chamayou chose eight of them for this recital, performing them alongside Kurtág's similarly miniature solos and framing them with four works by Schubert, the master piano duet writer of the 19th century. The Kurtág pieces on the main programme were all from Játékok: translating as Games, this is a collection of mostly tiny piano solos and duets united by their concision and sense of mischief which Kurtág, now 99, has been adding to for half a century. Andsnes's solo set began with an Evocation of Petrushka that indeed sounded like a sped-up tape of Stravinsky; immediately afterwards there was the contrast of Les Adieux, quietly throbbing into silence, then an about-turn into the frenzied klaxon of Sirens of the Deluge. Chamayou sent his hands cartwheeling repeatedly down the keyboard in The Little Squall, and painted spots of changing colour in Hommage Tardif à Karskaya. Their duets were even more vivid, with Harangok and Kyrie showcasing differing and equally convincing ways of making the piano sound like bells. Close and complementary in style – Chamayou slightly more animated, Andsnes perhaps cooler and more analytical – the two made a rewarding team in Schubert, whether in the richly woven, melodious Rondo in A, the occasionally spiky Allegro in A minor or the constantly shifting harmonies of the E minor Fugue, written for organ. The highlight was the Fantasie in F minor, which with Andsnes on the top line was shaped into long paragraphs in a way that maintained momentum, before broadening out into an impassioned conclusion. It was back to Kurtág for the encores: two of his many Bach transcriptions, ending with the Sonatina from Actus Tragicus – two minutes of quiet, unassuming beauty.
