Saudi Arabia Joins 5th Meeting of Global Alliance for Two-State Solution

Saudi Arabia on Tuesday took part in the 5th meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution in Morocco's capital, Rabat, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). The meeting, co-organized by Morocco and the Netherlands, built upon the Global Alliance's previous meetings held in Riyadh, Brussels, Oslo, and Cairo to coordinate international efforts aimed at supporting the two-state solution as well as bringing peace to the Middle East. In September 2024, Saudi Arabia launched the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, in partnership with Norway and the European Union (EU). The announcement came during a high-level ministerial meeting chaired by the Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. The Rabat meeting took place amid the ongoing preparations for the International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, which Saudi Arabia will co-chair alongside France from June 17-20, 2025 in New York. Under the theme 'Sustaining Momentum for the Peace Process: Lessons Learned, Success Stories and Steps Forward,' the meeting in Rabat brought together the representatives of several member states, in addition to international organizations. The Counselor at the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Manal Radwan, represented Saudi Arabia in the meeting, alongside Counselor Mohamed Al-Harbi. Short link : Post Views: 23

Arab League Believes in Two-State Solution's Ability to Bring Regional Peace

Rabat – Hossam Zaki, the Assistant Secretary General of the Arab League, said on Tuesday in Rabat that the two-state solution could bring regional peace to the Middle East. 'We still believe in this solution and continue to support it as the basis for peace in the Middle East,' he said during a press conference on Tuesday following the 5th meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution. Morocco and the Netherlands organized the event as part of the preparatory campaign for the international conference that will take place in New York in June. Zaki recalled the situation in Gaza, where the Israeli Occupation Forces' (IOF) is waging an atrocious genocidal war, noting that Israeli forces also attempted to empty the region in defiance of international humanitarian law and the human values 'we are all supposed to share.' He said that Palestinians have the right to aspire to peace, independence and freedom, thanking Morocco for hosting the event and for its support for the Palestinian cause. Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita made similar remarks during the event, conveying Morocco's full support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. For Bourita, the two-state solution is not just a slogan or political tool, but a moral duty and a realistic political choice. 'Wars have been tried, violence has been used, but they never led to peace,' Bourita said, adding that it is time to turn this solution into a clear roadmap with specific steps. He also warned that some people don't want peace, arguing that 'extremists on both sides' feed on the 'conflict' and only pretend to support Palestinians without giving them real help. On Tuesday, the Palestinian Minister responsible for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faresin Aghabekian Shaheen conveyed Palestine's gratitude on Tuesday during her participation in the same event, thanking King Mohammed VI for his efforts in support of the Palestinian cause and the implementation of the two-state solution. She said that the holding of the event is part of Morocco's sustained efforts to make the State of Palestine a tangible reality. 'We place great hopes on this kind of meeting,' the minister said. Morocco Urges Need for Two-State Solution As Netanyahu Vows Full Control of Gaza

Rabat – Morocco's Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita said on Tuesday that Morocco strongly believes the two-state solution is the only path to peace between Palestinians and Israelis. He made the statement in Rabat during the opening of the fifth meeting of the International Coalition for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, hosted by Morocco in partnership with the Netherlands. Bourita said the two-state solution is the 'only option where no one loses,' explaining that Palestinians would gain their freedom and dignity, while Israelis would get safety and stability, and the entire region would have a better chance at development and peace. He said that this solution is not just a slogan or political tool, but a moral duty and a realistic political choice. 'Wars have been tried, violence has been used, but they never led to peace,' Bourita remarked. The foreign minister said it is time to turn this solution into a clear roadmap with specific steps. He also warned that some people don't want peace, arguing that 'extremists on both sides' feed on the 'conflict' and only pretend to support Palestinians without giving them real help. He added that the two-state solution was backed by the international community decades ago and remains the only fair and lasting path. It would allow the creation of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. Read also: Palestinians Mark 77 Years Since Nakba with New Waves of Grief, Displacement Throughout history, Morocco has stayed committed to this vision, Bourita said, under the leadership of both King Hassan II and King Mohammed VI, who also chairs the Al-Quds (Jerusalem) Committee. Morocco has always worked quietly and wisely to promote peace, added the minister. He recalled that King Mohammed VI had set out a clear way to break the current deadlock in his speech to the last Arab Summit. The King called for an immediate ceasefire, an end to violence in the West Bank, including house demolitions and forced expulsions. The monarch also urged to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches those in need, and further support for UNRWA. The opening of the fifth meeting of the International Coalition for the Implementation of the Two-State The monarch also called for launching a full plan for Gaza's reconstruction under Palestinian leadership and international supervision. Bourita also spoke about the goals of the international coalition, including learning from past peace efforts, strengthening Palestinian institutions under President Mahmoud Abbas, and focusing on building a strong economy for peace. He said Morocco's Al-Quds Agency, created by the King, already plays a big role in supporting the Palestinian economy and could do even more. But, he added, 'no economic support can replace a real political solution. We don't want temporary painkillers. We want a real cure for the conflict.' Gaza under intensified attacks While Morocco and several other countries push for peace, the catastrophe in Gaza continues to worsen. Israeli forces are carrying out one of the deadliest genocidal attacks the region has ever seen. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that Israeli forces will 'take control of all' of Gaza. In a video posted on his Telegram account, he claimed that fighting in Gaza is still intense but said Israeli troops are 'making progress.' Netanyahu also said Israel would allow a 'basic' amount of food into Gaza to avoid famine, after pressure from allies who fear the world is turning away from Israel due to the suffering of Palestinian civilians. The opening of the fifth meeting of the International Coalition for the Implementation of the Two-State 'We must not let the population sink into famine,' Netanyahu said. 'Even friends of Israel will not tolerate images of mass starvation.' However, he added that the aid would be very limited and carefully monitored to prevent Hamas from accessing it. Since October 2023, Gaza has been facing a full-blown genocide. Tens of thousands of civilians have been murdered at the hands of the IOF, including numerous children, with the death toll reaching 53,600. Homes, hospitals, schools, and water systems have been carpet bombed, with civilians trapped, without safe places to go. Palestinians across Gaza are running out of food, water, and medicine in what analysts are warning will present one of the deadliest man-made famines of the century. The United Nations continues to call for an immediate ceasefire, but Israel has instead intensified attacks and killed hundreds of civilians in a couple of days. Morocco champions Two-State Solution as essential path to lasting peace, FM says

Morocco, guided by its historical responsibility and as chair of the Jerusalem Committee, considers the two-state solution the key to ensuring security and stability in the region, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita stated Tuesday in Rabat. Speaking at the opening of the fifth meeting of the International Coalition for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution—held in Morocco in partnership with the Kingdom of the Netherlands under the theme «Sustaining Momentum for the Peace Process: Lessons Learned, Success Stories, Next Steps», Bourita affirmed that the two-state solution «is the only option without losers, as everyone benefits: Palestinians gain freedom and dignity, Israelis their security and stability, and the entire region its prospects for development». He stressed, «The two-state solution is not an empty slogan or a diplomatic bargaining tool, but a moral obligation and a realistic political option that cannot be postponed». Bourita added, «There are those who lose from this solution: extremists on all sides who thrive on conflict and exist only in its shadow. They trade slogans and claim to support the Palestinian people without offering even a sack of rice, preferring opposition to responsibility». He emphasized that the two-state solution is a historic option endorsed by the international community decades ago. Despite crises, it remains the only viable path toward a just and lasting settlement, enabling the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The minister recalled that Morocco, under the leadership of its kings, from King Hassan II to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Jerusalem Committee, has remained steadfast in this commitment. Moroccan diplomacy has worked calmly and effectively to promote the chances of a just peace. Bourita highlighted that the King, in his address at the last Arab Summit in Baghdad, outlined key steps to break the current impasse: immediate cessation of military operations; addressing West Bank aggressions including demolitions and forced displacement; ensuring humanitarian aid access; supporting UNRWA; and launching an integrated reconstruction plan supervised by the Palestinian Authority with Arab and international oversight, aligned with the last Cairo Summit decisions. «But let us be clear: no economic aid can replace a political solution. We seek not temporary fixes but a radical remedy to the conflict», he stressed, urging enrichment of the «Compendium» Morocco plans to present jointly with the Netherlands. He concluded that convening this meeting amid the tragic situation in the Palestinian territories, especially the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza, is more than a diplomatic event, it is a message of hope and a practical step to reactivate the two-state solution through concrete measures. «At this critical historical moment», the minister emphasized, «we believe our coalition is among the most promising initiatives to revitalize peace efforts by proposing concrete steps that advance the political process and create the momentum necessary to establish the two-state solution as the only path to a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace for the Palestinian cause».

Rabat to Host 5th Meeting of Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution

The 5th meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution will be held on Tuesday in Rabat, under the theme 'Sustaining the Peace Process Momentum: Lessons Learned, Achievements, and Prospects.' Organized by the Kingdom of Morocco in partnership with the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the meeting will bring together senior political officials, special envoys, as well as actors and representatives from international organizations committed to the Two-State Solution. The discussions will focus on a range of topics, including the impact of peace processes in the Middle East, efforts to support the governance structures of the Palestinian state, and the economic foundations of peace in the region. Aimed at encouraging the development of a platform for projects, initiatives, and achievements that support the prospect of lasting peace in the Middle East, the meeting is expected to lead to concrete political recommendations to back diplomatic efforts and strengthen conditions favorable to the realization of the Two-State Solution. The outcomes of this meeting will feed into the work of the High-Level Conference on the Two-State Solution, scheduled to take place at the United Nations headquarters in New York in June 2025. Launched during the High-Level Week of the UN General Assembly in September 2024, the Global Alliance is a diplomatic platform dedicated to the effective revival of the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. This fifth meeting follows four previous ones held in Riyadh, Brussels, Oslo, and Cairo. (MAP: 19 May 2025)
