Nine photos as Hibs jet out for Europa League clash including record breaker boost
Hibs are on their travels as they get set to face FC Midtjylland in the first leg of their Europa League second qualifying round. Head coach David Gray is hoping for a positive result that sets them up nicely for a return leg at Easter Road in just over a week. Wing-back Chris Cadden said ahead of this clash: ' We're looking forward to the challenge, obviously away leg first, it'll be tough. We're under no illusions about how tough it's going to be and the pedigree they've got, but we need to be the best version of ourselves to go and beat them. 'I look around at our squad it's top quality, the additions have been really good, settled in really well and yes, obviously a positive season last season, so we need to keep on rolling with that and add quality, which I think we've done.'The squad depth we've got is really good, you can see the level in training as well. 'It's a massive game and it's the rewards of how well we've done last year, so first of all we'll go and enjoy it, take the challenge on head on and go and be the best versions of ourselves which we can be. We know it will be tough, but we're a good team as well, we know that and we're third place in the league for that reason, so we need to remember that and keep going.' Crystal Palace Officially Appeal To CAS Over Europa League Demotion
Last Updated: Palace appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport after being relegated from the UEFA Europa League to the Conference League due to John Textor's dual ownership with Lyon. Crystal Palace have officially lodged an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after being relegated from the UEFA Europa League to the UEFA Conference League due to a breach of UEFA's multi-club ownership rules. Palace Penalised Over Textor's Dual Ownership The dispute stems from American businessman John Textor's involvement with both Crystal Palace and French side Lyon. UEFA determined that as of March 1, Textor exercised 'control or influence" over both clubs—making them ineligible to compete in the same European tournament under UEFA regulations. Although Textor has since agreed to sell his stake in Palace to Woody Johnson, owner of the New York Jets, UEFA's ruling was based on the state of affairs at the conclusion of the 2023–24 season, when both clubs qualified for European competitions. Lyon Retain Europa League Spot, Palace Drop Down Lyon, by virtue of a higher domestic league finish, were awarded the Europa League place, leaving Palace demoted to the UEFA Conference League. Nottingham Forest, who finished seventh in the Premier League, are now in line to take Palace's original Europa League slot. Palace are seeking to either reclaim their Europa League place or take over that of Forest or Lyon, depending on how CAS rules. Club chairman Steve Parish expressed confidence in Palace's legal case during an appearance on The Rest is Football podcast. 'We are still fighting. There's an appeal process, so we go to CAS—and we're very hopeful. We think we've got great legal arguments," he said. 'We don't think this is the right decision by any means. We know unequivocally that John [Textor] didn't have decisive influence over the club. We know we proved that beyond all reasonable doubt—because it's a fact." view comments First Published: July 22, 2025, 23:30 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Forest have currently taken Palace's place in the Europa League after writing to Uefa to complain about Textor's links between Selhurst Park and Lyon. Crystal Palace's argument has long been that Textor, who owned 43 per cent of the club before selling to American billionaire Woody Johnson, had no influence in south London. And chairman Steve Parish is confident they can have the decision overturned.
