2km arm of Hindon elevated rd to link new township & capital

Ghaziabad: A 2km arm of the Hindon elevated road may connect the upcoming Harnandipuram township with Delhi at UP Gate, Delhi-Meerut Expressway and NH9. A plan still on the drawing boards, GDA officials said if the 10km elevated road is extended further towards the city forest area from the Raj Nagar Extension (RNE) roundabout to meet the outer ring road abutting villages from where land is to be acquired for the township, it could provide direct connectivity between the eastern and north-eastern parts of the city. GDA, which has already surveyed areas along RNE roundabout, estimates the road extension project to cost Rs 200 crore. Currently, Hindon elevated road spans from Rajnagar Extension to Ghazipur border. Two ramps on it allow vehicles to access the elevated road from Indirapuram and Vasundhara. "We conducted a survey to chalk out a possible route from where the elevated road could be extended towards Harnandipuram. According to the proposal, a 2km arm of the elevated stretch from the roundabout on the RNE side abutting Hindon river via city forest area will be constructed, which will be further joined with the outer ring road," GDA vice chairperson Atul Vats said. UP is currently in talks with farmers to decide on the land rates for five villages from which 336 hectares is to be acquired for Harnandipuram township. The rates will be four times the DM circle rate as per the provisions of the Land Acquisition (Rehabilitation & Resettlement) Act 2013. Under the CM Urban Expansion New City Promotion Scheme, UP has allocated Rs 400 crore for the development of the township. As per one estimate, Rs 15,000 crore will be needed to develop Harnandipuram, and a large chunk will go into acquiring land at mutually agreed rates from the farmers. Out of this, 50% ofcost will be borne by the state govt under the CM Urban Expansion New City Promotion Scheme, with the remaining amount covered by the GDA. Meanwhile, UP Housing Board, which administers Vasundhara and Sidharth Vihar townships, has recently proposed two cloverleaf interchanges on Hindon elevated road to provide commuters from Vasundhara and Sidharth Vihar direct access to Delhi via UP Gate and RNE. A 24km road—part of it a bridge over the Hindon—is proposed from Sidharth Vihar to the elevated road to allow vehicles to travel towards UP Gate directly. A grade separator and cloverleaf interchange is to let commuters travel towards RNE carriageway of the elevated road. The board has also proposed to build a 7km link road from Vasundhara's Sector 7 to the elevated road and a cloverleaf interchange further ahead, near the Kanawni culvert, in order to allow commuters to travel to Delhi without exiting the elevated road.

Will Delhi-Dehradun Expressway be delayed? Farmers lock up housing board office over compensation dispute

Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway project is facing a delay. A land dispute in Mandola village near Ghaziabad is causing problems. Farmers are asking for higher compensation for land they gave up in 1998. On April 25, 2025, some farmers locked the gates of the UP Housing Board's office in Ghaziabad. They said their payment issues are still not solved. A house on a 1,600 square metre land is blocking a key part of the expressway. The Allahabad High Court is hearing the case and may give a decision on April 29, 2025. Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: Mandola land dispute The delay is mainly because of a 1,600-square-meter plot owned by the family of the late Veersen Saroha. In 1998, Veersen fought against the UP Housing Board's plan to take his land for the Mandola Housing Scheme. The Board had offered ₹1,100 per square meter. About 94% of families agreed and took the money. But Veersen and his family refused to give up their land. (as per newsbytesapp) The matter later turned into a long court fight. After Veersen's death, his grandson Lakshyaveer took over the case. He also opposed the land being given to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which is building the expressway. The case has been through many courts and is now with the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court. A final decision can be expected most likely on April 29, 2025. Impact on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway project The expressway is being built in two main parts. One is a 14.7 km stretch from Akshardham to the UP border. The other is a 16 km stretch from Loni to Khekra at the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE). The disputed house is right in the way of an important ramp section. This is blocking the final work on these parts. The NHAI said the project can be ready by June 2025 if the court issues are solved soon. But because of the ongoing case, this deadline may not be possible. Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: Farmers protest & housing board office lockdown Farmers and affected landowners have locked up the Uttar Pradesh Housing Board office to escalate their protests over the compensation dispute. Their dissatisfaction with the money offered and delays in solving the land issues have further slowed down the project's progress. HC order on house holding up Delhi-Dehradun expressway likely on April 29

Ghaziabad: The Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court may deliver its verdict next week in a compensation dispute involving a two-storied house in Mandola that has held up completion of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway . A two-judge bench of justices Rajan Roy and Om Prakash Shukla, hearing the case on April 16, had given the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and UP Housing Board three days to file their counter affidavits. A person closely associated with the case told TOI he expects the HC bench to deliver the verdict at the next hearing on April 29, paving the way for opening of the two stretches of the expressway – a 14.7km section from Delhi's Akshardham to UP Border (Ghaziabad) and a 16km section from UP Gate in Loni (Ghaziabad) to Khekra (Baghpat) on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE). "The project is being monitored at the PMO and (Union) ministry level, and an early outcome of the order is pivotal in the larger interest of the people. We hope that the HC will deliver a final verdict in the case, paving the way for the opening of two stretches of the corridor, where we are told 98% of the work is complete," he said on Monday. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Google Brain Co-Founder Andrew Ng, Recommends: Read These 5 Books And Turn Your Life Around Blinkist: Andrew Ng's Reading List Undo The dispute dates to 1998, when UP Housing Board started acquiring farmlands in Mandola for a housing scheme. While many farmers gave up their land along the Delhi-Ghaziabad border over the years, Veersen Saroha refused compensation and held on to his 1,600sqm house there. He moved the Allahabad high court, which stayed acquisition of his land. Veersen died before the case reached a resolution, though the Mandola Housing Scheme never materialised over protests and demands of higher compensation by other landowners too. Meanwhile, NHAI finalised its plans for the Delhi-Saharanpur-Dehradun Economic Corridor, which involves construction of the expressway, between 2017 and 2020. The highways authority, which needed Veersen's land to build a ramp to the expressway, approached UP Housing Board, which obliged and gave away the parcel to NHAI. Veersen's grandson Lakshyaveer moved Supreme Court last year, alleging the land was not the Housing Board's to give away. The top court redirected the dispute to the Lucknow bench of the HC and asked it to expedite the case. Farmers block board's office On Monday, dozens of farmers who have been demanding higher compensation for land they parted with in 1998 for the Mandola Vihar Housing Scheme locked the gates of UP Housing Board's office in the city to protest. Neeraj Tyagi, who has been spearheading the farmers' agitation in Mandola, said the authorities have not shown any urgency to resolve the issues of other landowners affected by acquisition. "We raised the issue a number of times in the past, and the board assured a way out. Despite so many years, we got no assurance from the board, so we locked up the UP Housing Board's office on Monday and organised a sit-in protest," he said. Asked about the protest, a Housing Board official said land was acquired with due process at the time. "The board started the physical work in 2007, and the project was slated to be completed in 15 years, but the farmers' agitation held it up. Their demand is unjustified," the official said.
