Who Is Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja? Neighbor Who Shoot Dead 'King of the Hill' Voice Actor Jonathan Joss After Heated Argument Arrested

The man who allegedly shot and killed "King of the Hill" voice actor Jonathan Joss has been arrested, according to a report. The suspect, Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, was arrested in Texas on Sunday, June 1, at 7:05 p.m, according to online records, the New York Post reported. He faces a charge of first-degree felony murder, with his bond set at $200,000. Joss, best known for voicing a character on the popular animated series "King of the Hill", was reportedly shot dead by a neighbor in Texas. Joss, who voiced "John Redcorn" on the animated series, got into a heated argument with Ceja at his San Antonio home on Sunday night. Argument Leading to Death During the altercation, Ceja drew a gun and shot Joss multiple times. Ceja fled the scene by car but was arrested by authorities just one block away. As authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the deadly shooting, neighbors told TMZ that Joss and Ceja had a long-standing dispute and were reportedly involved in past verbal and physical altercations. According to Joss' neighbors, his house was destroyed in a fire back in February, which reportedly started when he tried to heat the home using a BBQ pit after his electricity was cut off. They said that on Sunday, Joss returned to the property to pick up a check from a victim's fire relief fund and found the remains of one of his cherished dogs that had died in the blaze, the New York Post reported. The sight of the dog's remains sent Joss into a fury, and he began shouting at anyone nearby, including Alvarez Ceja, who lived just two houses away, according to eyewitnesses, the publication reported. Neighbors said that such outbursts from Joss were common. They claimed that police had been called on him multiple times before his home caught fire earlier this year. They also alleged that Joss often engaged in strange behavior, such as banging pots and pans on his rooftop in the middle of the night. More Mystery into the Death Before the fire, Joss' home had reportedly been deemed unsafe and uninhabitable— a situation neighbors say led to his electricity being disconnected. According to the Post, a GoFundMe campaign was launched for Joss after the incident, successfully raising $10,721 to assist him. Details on the fundraising page revealed that the house was originally built in 1957 by Joss' father as a gift for his mother, and sadly, three of his dogs lost their lives in the fire. Joss, a graduate of Our Lady of the Lake University, is survived by his husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, whom he married on Valentine's Day. His final credited role on IMDb was in 2023, lending his voice to characters in CD Projekt RED's video game "Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty", where he starred alongside Keanu Reeves and Idris Elba. Joss also voiced the character Healing in the animated drama "Unplugged" by Paul McComas and Holly Trasti, appearing with the late Louis Gossett Jr., the late Ed Asner, Christina Ricci, and Jeri Ryan.

Jonathan Joss: 'King of the Hill' Voice Actor Shot Dead after Heated Argument with Neighbor

Actor Jonathan Joss, best known for voicing a character on the popular animated series "King of the Hill", was reportedly shot dead by a neighbor in Texas. Joss, who voiced "John Redcorn" on the long-running animated series, got into a heated argument with a neighbor at his San Antonio home on Sunday night, police said. During the altercation, the neighbor drew a gun and shot Joss multiple times. The shooter, whose identity has not been released, fled the scene by car but was arrested by authorities just one block away. Police are still investigating the incident and are talking to multiple witnesses to find out what led to the argument. Unexpected Confrontation and Death Only last Saturday, Jonathan — who has 9,000 followers on social media — posted a cheerful video inviting fans to meet him for an autograph signing at Tribe Comics and Games in Austin, Texas. On Sunday morning, Joss thanked his fans on Facebook, and expressed his gratitude to his supporters for helping him arrange transportation back to San Antonio. Star in His Own Right Despite his diverse work, Joss was best known for his role as John Redcorn — a musician and spiritual healer — on the FOX animated series "King of the Hill." His character was known for a long-running affair with anchorwoman Nancy Hicks-Gribble (voiced by Ashley Gardner), appearing from seasons 2 through 13. In a post that has since been deleted, Joss expressed disappointment over being excluded from the "King of the Hill" reunion held last Friday at the ATX TV Festival in Austin, which featured co-creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, along with cast members Pamela Adlon, Lauren Tom, and Toby Huss. Earlier this year, on January 23, Joss suffered a personal tragedy when his childhood home — built by his father in 1957 — was destroyed by fire, claiming the lives of his three beloved dogs. He also lost his vehicle in the blaze. A GoFundMe campaign started by Logan Kostroun raised $10,721 toward a $15,000 goal to help him recover.

Eric Clapton's Grammy-Winning Album Reaches A New Chart Peak

Eric Clapton's Unplugged returns to two U.K. album charts, nearly cracking the top 40 thanks to a ... More new physical re-release and renewed attention in 2025. British Rock and Blues musician Eric Clapton plays guitar as he performs onstage at the Spectrum, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, May 5, 1992. (Photo by) Unplugged stands out among Eric Clapton's many albums as one of his most critically acclaimed and commercially successful projects. The live set was recorded in front of a small audience as part of MTV's Unplugged series. While Clapton was already a superstar at the time and big things were expected, few could have predicted just how massive the title would become. Decades later, it remains an incredibly important and meaningful effort for both the musician and his fan — and this week, it becomes a bestseller once again. Unplugged returns to a pair of rankings in the U.K. this frame, and it nearly reenters the top 40 on both lists, missing that special region by just a few spots. This time around, the title lands highest on the Official Physical Albums chart, where it comes in at No. 41. At the same time, it reappears at No. 46 on the Official Albums Sales roster, the general list of the bestselling titles in the country. Clapton's Unplugged reaches a new all-time high on the latter tally – but not the physical-only list – as it returns. It has been almost half a decade since Unplugged was seen on either of these two rosters. The set last appeared on both rankings in June 2020 and has been missing ever since. At the time, Unplugged debuted on the Official Albums Sales chart, and it has now spent just two frames somewhere on the list. The collection has performed much better — and for much longer — on the Official Physical Albums chart. Unplugged launched on that ranking in early 1994 and has now spent 35 frames as one of the top-selling titles on any physical format in the U.K. Unplugged is mounting its comeback thanks to a newly-released enhanced edition, as fans have been purchasing the full-length as a triple LP and a double CD. The project has been the focus of renewed attention all year, as the MTV performance was re-released to cinemas in select countries earlier in 2025. That film also made its way to Paramount+. All the excitement surrounding the Grammy-winning effort — along with the physical re-release — appears to have been enough to push the title back into bestseller status.

Screens have ruined holidays, it's time we all switched off

This week the Princess of Wales released a video imploring people to step away from the 'digital world' and embrace the wonders of nature instead. The timing of her message couldn't have been more apt. On the day her video dropped, a power outage knocked out multiple lines on the London Underground network. A day before, thousands of passengers at Stansted were grounded due to an IT glitch. Many shelves are currently empty in M&S and Co-Op stores as a result of a cyber hack, and large swathes of Europe recently went dark due to a mass blackout. The digital world seems to be failing us more than ever before. What the Princess of Wales alludes to is nothing new, of course. The link between screen time, social media, ' doomscrolling ' and depression is well-documented. And the resulting antidote, the 'digital detox', has been around for a while. A Google Trends graph shows the first spikes of interest occurred in 2009, and (somewhat ironically) there has been a gradual rise of search traffic for switching off ever since. Anyone who watched the latest series of White Lotus will be familiar with the movement. That's set in a fictional hotel, but the no phones fad is well established. Ten years ago I stayed in a remote cabin in Upstate New York with a new company called Getaway (now Postcard Cabins) which had a lock box for my mobile phone. A UK firm, Unplugged, has a similar philosophy. Now, lots of hotels and wellness retreats are at it, too. To take one example, last year Careys Manor Hotel in the New Forest launched a 'digital detox package', which included a mobile phone amnesty box. The self-catering accommodation site, Cool Places, used to have a 'Wi-fi' tag. Now, its adding a 'No Wi-Fi' tag too. The problem is that those boxes are easily unlocked. So is it possible to take things a step further, I wonder? One option would be to go to the country with the worst 5G coverage on Earth. In Indonesia only 0.9 per cent of mobile phone connected time is spent on a 5G network, according to Opensignal. By comparison, 48.4 per cent of digital time in Puerto Rico is spent on a 5G connection. Cuba is another example of a country with poor internet speeds across its state-owned network, with roaming costs too high for much of the population. A more practical approach might be to look at the destinations that have a deeper-rooted screen-free culture. According to a 2021 report by Data Reportal, the people of Japan spend the least time online, with an average of just 4hr 25m of screen time per day. In Europe, meanwhile, the Danes have the healthiest relationship with their devices, with only 5hr 16m spent online daily compared to 6hr 26m in the UK. Is it a coincidence that Denmark's cities consistently rank as the happiest country on Earth? I suspect not. The problem we face is that when it comes to our holidays, embarking on a digital detox is harder now than ever before. Ryanair is in the process of going entirely paperless with its boarding passes, which will effectively force passengers to download its app and have it at the ready. Since becoming quite fashionable during the pandemic, QR codes continue to be popular with restaurants and museums. Hard to resist Perhaps the biggest hurdle is the multi-faceted powers of today's smartphone. Not too long ago, phones were for calls and texts, meaning you would have a camera for photos, a portable audio player for music, a guidebook for local information and a hotel reception desk for weather reports. Now, with all the above available at the touch of a button, the temptation to momentarily reconnect is hard to resist. And this is not to mention the expectation of contact with loved ones back at home. When I went inter-railing in 2008, aged 18, I had a flip phone without mobile internet connectivity, so I would pop into internet cafes every few days to send an 'all is well' update to my mum. Now, going single-tick silent for 24 hours is enough to prompt a search party. All that said, logging off is not impossible. And I do agree with the Princess of Wales that escaping the digital world and soaking up the natural one is vitally important, particularly for children. So this summer, I am going to take a leaf from Kate's book. I am due to travel to Cap Ferret on France's west coast in a couple of weeks, and I pledge to dust off my Fujifilm camera, inform my loved ones of my digital abstention, and to leave that frustratingly brilliant piece of technology at the bottom of my bag.

Iggy Pop, Jack White Say ‘Hey! Ho!' To CBGB Festival

It has been 50 years since CBGB birthed the New York rock explosion led by Patti Smith, Talking Heads and the Ramones — a legacy that will be honored Sept. 27 at the first CBGB Festival. The event will be headlined by Iggy Pop and Jack White and will take place at Under the K Bridge Park, a new outdoor venue literally underneath the Kosciuszko Bridge roadway in Brooklyn. The 21-band, three-stage lineup will also sport Sex Pistols with new singer Frank Carter, Johnny Marr, Marky Ramone, the Damned, Gorilla Biscuits, Melvins, Lambrini Girls, the Linda Lindas, Lunachicks, Scowl, Cro-Mags, Murphy's Law and Pinkshift. Attendees will be treated such hallowed memorabilia as the original CBGB's bar and stage More from Spin: Eric Clapton's 'Unplugged' and the Peak Dad Rock Moment The Vernon Spring Finds Clarity in Haze Pearl Jam Revisit Vintage Songs For 'The Last Of Us' Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday (May 16), and a trove of 350 GA tickets will be available only at the Music Hall of Williamsburg box office the next day for residents under 25. The 'Young Punk' discounted ducats will sell for $73, in line with the year CBGB opened. Pop hasn't played a headlining show in New York in nine years, although he has appeared at such events as the annual Tibet House benefit and a symphonic celebration of Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin, which was held just days before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. Other artists on the bill have longstanding connections to the music of the CBGB era, with White frequently covering Iggy and the Stooges' 'I Wanna Be Your Dog' and Marr featuring Pop's 'The Passenger' in his live set lists in 2024. Marky Ramone and the Damned are also no strangers to the original club, with the former having played it countless times with the Ramones and the latter among the first U.K. punk bands to visit in April 1977. CBGB closed its doors on the Bowery in 2006 after a farewell concert by Smith. Its building is now occupied by a John Varvatos store, although the CBGB name has since been licensed for a restaurant at Newark International Airport. In 2018, Target provoked the ire of New York music lovers by tweaking CBGB's famous awning to celebrate the opening of a new retail location in Astor Place. The four-lettered acronym was swapped out for 'TRGT' and 'BANDS,' which referred not to music but complimentary Band-Aids and exercise bands with Target logos on them.
