Jennifer Lopez Sued for Copyright Infringement Over Photos on Instagram & X

Jennifer Lopez has recently been sued for copyright infringement for reportedly sharing two paparazzi photos. On January 4, the singer-actor made a stunning appearance at the Vanity Fair and Amazon MGM Studios Awards Season 2025. On January 5, took to Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) to post photographs from the glamorous red carpet at Chateau Marmont's Bar Marmont in Hollywood. Two of these stills were allegedly paparazzi images, co-owned by photographer Edwin Blanco and BackGrid USA, the photo agency. Their lawyer has reportedly claimed that the 'Unstoppable' actor used the photos on social media platforms without taking any permission. Photo agency BackGrid USA and photographer Edwin Blanco have reportedly hit Jennifer Lopez with a lawsuit. They are suing the singer for copyright infringement of two photos. These paparazzi stills were from the red carpet of the Vanity Fair and Amazon MGM Studios Celebrate Awards Season 2025. The photographer and the agency allegedly co-own the photographs, which posted on X and Instagram in January. As reported by Billboard, Peter Perkowski, a lawyer from BackGrid and Blanco, claimed that Jennifer Lopez used the two photos without permission to promote herself and her ensemble for the event. The attorney wrote, 'Ms. Lopez's unauthorized use of the Images is commercial in nature, intended for the purpose of self-promotion.' Perkowski continued, 'For example, Ms. Lopez used the images to spotlight the designer of her clothing and jewelry.' The lawyer added, 'leveraging the publicity from the event to promote her fashion affiliations and brand partnerships.' Per the lawsuits, a Blanco and BackGrid representative made contact with Jennifer Lopez's team regarding the reported copyright infringement. Per Billboard, attorney Peter Perkowski said the two teams had 'fruitful discussions.' They allegedly verbally agreed to a monetary settlement. However, reportedly refrained from signing a settlement agreement in writing. She has also allegedly yet to pay the promised amount. The singer, 55, who shares twins Emme and Max, both 16, with her former husband Marc Anthony, made the admission while opening up about the emotional strength required for motherhood in a rare personal message posted to her Instagram Stories to mark Mother's Day in the US on Sunday. Jennifer, also known for acting in movies including 'Unstoppable' and 'Office Romance', said in a message: 'Being a mom is so wild because you really just wake up everyday and do it. In one short clip, she was seen twirling in a flowing skirt on a white-sand beach near her home in the Hamptons, Long Island. The Grammy-winning artist recently wrapped filming on her latest romantic comedy 'Office Romance', in which she stars alongside 43-year-old Brett Goldstein, best known for his role in 'Ted Lasso'. Her shoot concluded shortly before Jennifer and her former partner Ben Affleck, 51, reportedly made a significant reduction to the asking price of their mansion in Bel Air, California. According to a report by TMZ, the couple dropped the price of the 12-bedroom, 24-bathroom estate from $68 million to $60 million, after originally purchasing the property in May 2023 for $60,850,000. The property was first listed for sale in July 2024. Sources told TMZ Ben had been pushing for the price cut, reportedly urging Jennifer to agree so the house would sell. 'Ben wants to get rid of it because their divorce is over and he wants to cut all ties and have it be done,' an insider said.

On Tuesday (May 13), she shared a photo of herself holding an ice pack to her right eye, and wrote: "So this happened..." On another slide, she revealed the injury happened "during @amas rehearsals", as she posted a snap of her swollen nose with a cut on the bridge and what appeared to be a black eye.
