HYDERABAD: The Upa-Lokayukta of Andhra Pradesh has facilitated the resolution of a land acquisition compensation grievance in Musunuru Village, C.S. Puram Mandal, Prakasam District. The case involved a complaint by P. Om Sivaiah regarding the non-payment of compensation for 1.72 acres of land acquired for the Bangalore-Kadapa-Vijayawada economic corridor (NH-554G). The complainant alleged inaction by the District Collector in addressing the compensation issue. However, following the intervention of the Upa-Lokayukta, the District Collector and the Special District Collector (Land Acquisition) of Prakasam District confirmed the land as Patta land and facilitated its removal from the prohibited property list. As a result, the Tahsildar of C.S. Puram disbursed an amount of Rs. 20,11,645 to the complainant, who has confirmed receipt and expressed satisfaction with the resolution. This case highlights the proactive role of the Lokayukta and Upa-Lokayukta in ensuring transparency, effective coordination with district authorities, and swift redressal of citizen grievances. Subsequently, the complaint has now been officially closed.

The Upa-Lokayukta of Andhra Pradesh has facilitated payment of compensation to the land acquired by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to a person from Prakasam district. An official statement from the Lokayukta and Upa-Lokayukta said they have received a complaint from P. Om Sivaiah alleging non-payment of compensation for 1.72 acres of his land in Musunuru village of CS Puram mandal in Prakasam district acquired by NHAI for the Bangalore-Kadapa-Vijayawada economic corridor (NH-554G), and inaction by the district Collector. Following intervention by the Institution of Lokayukta, the district Collector and Special district Collector (Land Acquisition), Prakasam district submitted reports confirming the land as Patta land, and facilitated deletion from the prohibited property list. Subsequently, necessary corrections were made to the revenue records, and the Project Director, NHAI, Project Implementation Unit, Ongole, was directed to release compensation. An amount of ₹20.11 lakh was paid to Mr. Sivaiah by CS Puram Tahsildar. The complainant confirmed receipt of the compensation and expressed satisfaction with the action. 'This show cases the proactive role of the Lokayukta and Upa-Lokayukta of Andhra Pradesh in ensuring transparency, coordination with district authorities, and swift redressal of citizen grievances,' the release said and added the complaint stands closed as the grievance has been fully redressed.

Acting on complaints filed by Nallala Venkata Ramanamma and Nallala Seshagiri, the Upa-Lokayukta P. Rajani passed a common order addressing their exclusion from the project's Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) Package. Both complainants, residents of the affected area, were initially left out of the list of eligible beneficiaries. Following the intervention of the Lokayukta, the Project Administrator and Ex-officio Joint Collector, Polavaram Irrigation Project, Dowlaiswaram, submitted an action-taken report confirming that both complainants were added to the supplementary draft R&R scheme. Each was compensated with Rs. 6.36 lakh and Rs. 25,000, along with allotted house site plots. Upa-Lokayukta P Rajani issued a landmark order in response to complaints filed by Nallala Venkata Ramanamma and Nallala Seshagiri. The complainants alleged exclusion from the Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) benefits despite residing in Kummari Lova village in Tuni mandal, an area formerly part of East Godavari district, now in Kakinada district. Following the Lokayukta's action, the Project Administrator and ex-officio Joint Collector of the Polavaram Irrigation Project at Dowleswaram confirmed the inclusion of the complainants in the supplementary draft R&R scheme. Each complainant received Rs 6.36 lakh and an additional Rs 25,000 in entitlements, along with house site plots. The government sanctioned Rs 9.5 crore to extend relief to other displaced families in the village. The institution's oversight and follow-up ensured accountability and timely resolution, leading to the official closure of the complaints.

Two displaced families of Polavaram Project received the compensation due to them as per the Relief and Rehabilitation Package following intervention by the institution of Lokayukta and Upa-Lokayukta here. The complaint was filed by Nallala Venkata Ramanamma and Nallala Seshagiri regarding their exclusion from the R&R Package benefits under the Polavaram Project. The grievance of the complainants pertained to their non-inclusion in the list of beneficiaries despite their residence being in the affected area. Following the orders of Upa-Lokayukta P. Rajani, the project Administrator and Ex-officio Joint Collector, Polavaram Irrigation Project Dowleswaram, submitted an action taken report confirming that the complainants were included in the supplementary draft R&R scheme and that the R&R entitlement of ₹6.36 lakh and ₹25,000 were paid to each of the complainants along with allotment of house site plots. Importantly, the government had sanctioned ₹9.50 crore for the benefit of all project displaced families in Kummari Lova Village of Tuni Mandal for providing due benefits to numerous other affected families, in addition to the complainants. With the grievances resolved, the complaints were officially closed, the office of Lokayukta said in a statement on Tuesday.
