Yash Dayal banned from UP T20 League after allegations of sexual harassment
Left-arm fast bowler Yash Dayal has been banned from participating in the UP T20 League by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA). The decision comes in the aftermath of sexual harassment allegations against the cricketer, as he's facing rape charges in Ghaziabad and the Ghaziabad case, Dayal is facing sexual exploitation charges under the pretext of marriage and has received protection from arrest from the Allahabad High Court. However, the Jaipur High Court has refused to grant relief from arrest, considering the sensitivity of the case involving a minor. The next hearing is scheduled for August 22 and the threat of arrest looms large on the was supposed to play for Gorakhpur Lions in the UP T20 league 2025 after being bought for Rs 7 lakh by the franchise. The 27-year-old has been at the top of his game for the past two years and even played a crucial role in helping Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) win their maiden IPL (Indian Premier League) in 2025, having scalped 13 wickets in their victorious campaign. However, his career is now in serious jeopardy after back-to-back cases of sexual assault, with the second one filed at the Sanganer Sadar police station in Jaipur, involving a minor. The victim accused the cricketer of repeatedly raping her over a period of two years while emotionally blackmailing her and luring her with promises of a cricketing to the complaint, the victim first came into contact with Dayal when she was a minor, just 17 years old, during an IPL match in Jaipur. Dayal allegedly invited her to a hotel in Sitapura under the guise of offering career advice, where the first sexual assault took victim claims that this pattern continued for two years, beginning when she was still a minor, which has led the police to register the case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, a stringent law against sexual crimes involving minors.- EndsMust Watch

Ekana to host UPT20 League from Aug 17
1 2 Lucknow: The Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana International Cricket Stadium is all set to host the 3rd edition of the UPT20 League from Aug 17 to Sept 6. This will be the second time that Lucknow hosts this mega state-level domestic league. There had been buzz in the cricket fraternity over the past few months about the league being hosted in a hybrid mode between Lucknow and Kanpur. However, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) on Thursday confirmed that Ekana will exclusively host the state's own T20 league for the second consecutive year. A senior UPCA official told TOI that all 34 matches of the tournament will be played at Ekana, and top Bollywood stars and singers are expected to perform at the opening ceremony. A month ago, the mini-auction for the UPT20 League was held in Lucknow. Six franchises participated in the auction for the third edition. The UP T20 League is proving to be a boon for emerging cricketers, with players like Sameer Rizvi, Vipraj Nigam, and Zeeshan Ansari earning IPL contracts after their stellar performances in the tournament.

Nitish Rana gets NOC from UPCA
Lucknow: After two seasons of highs and lows with Uttar Pradesh, Nitish Rana has decided to return to his native state. The Rajasthan Royals batsman also received the no objection certificate (NOC) from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA), which he had sought due to family commitments. The 31-year-old Rana had moved to Uttar Pradesh in 2023 but did not have a very successful stint, either as a player or as captain. He had joined the Uttar Pradesh team in search of greener pastures and was even handed the captaincy, but failed to make the most of the opportunity. The southpaw played 10 matches in the Ranji Trophy, scoring 447 runs in 15 innings at an average of 31.92. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he managed only 72 runs in 7 matches, averaging 18.00. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he again failed to make a significant impact, scoring 314 runs in 16 matches at an average of 22.42. With the ball, he took three wickets in 10 Ranji matches at an economy of 2.98. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he claimed 7 wickets in 7 matches with an economy of 5.31, while in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20), he picked up 8 wickets in 16 matches at an economy of 6.64. UPCA CEO Ankit Chatterjee said, "Rana applied for the NOC due to family commitments, and we issued it to him ahead of the upcoming red-ball season." Earlier, Bagpat lad and experienced player Saurabh Kumar also took an NOC from UP and has decided to play for Andhra Pradesh in the upcoming season.

24 Kanpur cricketers to try luck in 45 slots in UP-T-20 league auction
Kanpur: As many as 170 cricketers, including 24 from Kanpur, will try their luck in 45 vacant slots in the UP T-20 league auction scheduled to be held in Lucknow on Wednesday. Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA), which is the organiser of the UP T-20 league, has released the list of players who would be auctioned. Kanpur Cricket Association had organised the Kanpur Premier League this year which attracted team owners to pick players for their squads. On the basis of performance, UPCA has picked 30 players from KPL, with 24 out of them belonging to Kanpur. The remaining six are from other districts. According to UPCA sources, two Kanpur players--Adarsh Singh and Mohd Sharim--have already been retained by Kanpur Superstars and Noida Superkings teams. The players who will go under the hammer on June 18 are: Almas Shaukat, Ansh Tiwari, Upendra Yadav, Nishant Gaur, Trishal Trivedi, Aman Yadav, Abhinav Sharma, Satnam Singh, Saurabh Yadav, Abhishek Tomar, Divya Prakash, Divyanshu Pandey, Noorain Ali, Adesh Kumar, Amit Pachera, Faiz Ahmad, Prashant Awasthi, Rishav Rai, Sarthak Lohia, Satyam Dixit, Saubhagya Mishra, Shivam Kumar, Sudhanshu Chaurasia, Yuvraj Pandey (all Kanpur), Dhruv Pratap Singh, Subrat Prasad Tiwari (both Prayagraj), Prashant Chaudhary (Mrt), Rishabh Rajput (Mainpuri), Kamil Khan (Ghazipur), Vishal Pandey (Gzbd). tnn

UPCA honours visionary leader
Kanpur: Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association on Thursday paid tributes to Dr Gaur Hari Singhania on his 90th birth anniversary through an emotional ceremony at its office. The function was led by secretay Arvind Srivastava, treasurer Prem Manohar Gupt and CEO Ankit Chatterjee. The staff of UPCA also paid floral tribute to Dr Singhania, whose contribution strengthened the spirit of the association in the state.
