Every 2026 Dodge Durango Gets a V8, the V6 Is Dead

The latest car news, reviews, and features. Efficiency? Where we are going in America we don't need efficiency. We need power. Dodge just gave it to everyone. The 2026 Dodge Durango will come standard with a V8 engine as standard. The V6 engine? It's dead.* That asterisk is because fleet customers can still order a V6-powered Durango, but a normal consumer? Nope, not after August 13. 'It's all Hemi all the time,' a spokesperson told The Drive . Dodge's all-in assault on efficiency and 'underpowered vehicles' will cost $42,495, presumably not including an unknown destination charge. That price puts a standard 5.7-liter Hemi V8 under the hood, which has 65 horsepower more than the V6, though final output hasn't been released yet. The 2026 Durango R/T now gets what was an old SRT engine, the 392 cubic inch 6.4-liter Hemi V8, and it's implied that this engine is now standard. Power output will check in at 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, which is 115 more horsepower than the 2025 model's 5.7-liter Hemi. The 2026 Durango R/5 will cost less than $50,000, according to Dodge, and that probably doesn't include a destination charge. The Hellcat? It's not only living on, it gained the Jailbreak customization options. It also received a massive price cut. The 2026 Dodge Durango Hellcat will cost $79,995, which likely does not include a destination charge. The 2025 Durango Hellcat Silver Bullet edition cost for about $115,000, while the base 2025 Durango Hellcat cost about $102,000. That's price cut of about $22,000. The Durango became a staple in the Dodge lineup and the V8 was keeping the current model alive. Plans for the next-gen Durango have shifted many times at this point. Currently it's clear the current Durango is alive, well, and has an eight-cylinder heart. Orders for the 2026 Dodge Durango GT and Hellcat begin on August 13 with arrivals beginning in the fourth quarter. The 392-powered 2026 Durango R/T order bank won't open until 'late 2025.' The only thing missing from this entire presentation was a bald eagle and fireworks. It's Hemi time at Dodge, at least in its three-row SUV. Got about gas-guzzling V8s? Send a not to tips@

Jeep Gladiator 392 V8 Confirmed, Wrangler 392 Continuing Indefinitely

The latest car news, reviews, and features. For Jeep enthusiasts the holidays came early this year. On Thursday, at a media briefing Jeep CEO Bob Broderdorf said the 392 cubic inch V8 engine will be leveraged in the Jeep lineup followed by, 'Wrangler and Gladiator fans, and Hemi fans in general, don't worry.' After this announcement, it's unlikely any Jeep fans are resting, as some might be hyperventilating. Who's ready for a four-door pickup with removable doors, roof, and a huge V8 engine? Prepare your bank accounts. Broderdorf said 'after being out at the Rubicon Trail, it's clear just how much people love the roar of the 392.' It's worth noting, people traverse the Rubicon Trail at slow speeds, which means no engines are roaring. 'The 6.4-liter Hemi V8 will have a home at Jeep,' Broderdorf said. The V8 engine option was supposed to be killed off in the Wrangler two years ago with multiple Final Editions, which clearly weren't so final. The 2024 model cost $102,000. It was supposed to the end, but then it was kept alive for 2025, surely making the first round of 'Final Edition' owners feel a particular way. The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 is exactly as rowdy as you think it is. And having a Gladiator 392 join the lineup will only increase both profits and the rowdy factor in Jeep showrooms. The Hemi V8 was nearing extinction in the Jeep lineup with the eight-cylinder engine exiting the Grand Cherokee model entirely in 2024. It's possible the 5.7-liter returns to the Grand Cherokee, and a 6.4-liter Hemi gets shoved under the hood as well. 'We will tap the power and performance of the 6.4-liter V8 across Jeep products,' Broderdorf said. Now the Hemi V8 is back with a vengeance at Stellantis and seemingly spreading quickly. The 2025 Ram 1500 brought back the iconic motor as a 'symbol of protest,' for $2,895. The Hellcat-powered TRX is coming back, according to newly appointed Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa. And now the 6.4-liter Hemi-powered Wrangler 392 lives on only to gain a pickup truck sibling. Sorry, Final Edition owners. Those V8-powered Wrangler's weren't the end. Profits are a heck of a drug. It's Official: The Ram TRX Is Back

It's official: The Ram 1500 TRX is making a comeback. Newly appointed Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa confirmed the model's revival during the company's Q2 financial call, pointing to its ability to generate big margins for the brand. "The V-8 engine on versions, such as the Ram 1500 TRX, will deliver to us additional volumes but also accredited margins per unit," Filosa told shareholders, according to Mopar Insiders . Photo by: Ram Filosa didn't provide details about when production would begin, but Mopar Insiders cites unnamed, "well-placed" sources that claim the new TRX could hit dealerships as soon as January 2026. We're inclined to trust Mopar Insiders' source, given that they were the ones who predicted the TRX's return way back in March . There's no word on what a new TRX would look like, though we can make some educated guesses. The previous truck used a Hellcat-sourced 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 making 702 horsepower. With Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis now also heading Stellantis's SRT performance division , we expect the forced induction V-8 to make a comeback. It'll likely make more power, just to show up the 720-hp Raptor R , but retain its off-road prowess and brutish, rugged design. The TRX's return represents a small piece of Ram's broader shift back to V-8s. The company confirmed the Hemi's return to the 1500 for the 2026 model year and promises 25 new product announcements within the next 18 months. So the TRX is just the tip of the iceberg. With fuel economy standards now essentially meaningless under the current administration, it's likely Ram (and its sister brand, Dodge) will continue to lean into its eight-cylinder heritage without fear of being restricted by regulations. View post: 14-Year-Olds Can Now Ride Alone in Self-Driving Cars And Parents Are Divided View post: Walmart is selling a 'heavy-duty' $600 carport for only $320, and shoppers love its 'durability and construction' It's Got 400 Horsepower Los Angeles-based custom motorcycle builder Maxwell Hazan has built a bike powered by the V8 engine from a Ferrari F355. Dubbed the HF355, it's been in the works since early 2024, and still isn't quite finished, but recently turned a wheel for the first time. 'The goal was to create a V8-powered sport bike that still had the proportions of a normal motorcycle and it was definitely a challenge,' Hazan said in an Instagram post first spotted by Hagerty. Eight Cylinders, Two Wheels Motorcycles with large car engines have been built before—perhaps most famously by Dodge, which stuffed a Viper V10 into its Tomahawk concept bike—but that doesn't mean the task has gotten any easier. Hazan built a custom frame to house the Ferrari engine and a six-speed transmission, shrouded in handmade bodywork, with brakes and suspension capable of handling the engine's estimated 400 horsepower. That's pushing just 590 pounds of weight with fluids and four gallons of gasoline onboard. The engine and transmission make up 319 pounds of that total. A former interior designer and contractor, Hazan began building motorcycles in his father's woodshed in Brooklyn, before moving to L.A. and going into the bike-building business full time with his own company, Hazan Motorworks. His previous builds include an eclectic mix of customized classics such as BSA and Vincent, some more modern designs, and a salt-flats racer dubbed the Salt Shaker. But the Ferrari-powered HF355 might be Hazan's most distinctive build yet. About the Author Stephen Edelstein View Profile

Watch This Mini V8-Powered RC Chevy Roar Like the Real Thing

By signing up I agree to the Terms of Use and acknowledge that I have read the Privacy Policy . You may unsubscribe from email communication at anytime. The world of radio-controlled (RC) vehicles is driven by passion, and it's gained serious traction over the past few years among hobbyists. YouTube creator JohnnyQ90 stands out in this space, with nearly two million subscribers and a knack for building shockingly realistic, fully functional microscopic machines. In one of his latest videos, he showcases a working RC Chevy truck powered by a tiny 44cc V8 engine. Small Truck, Serious Engineering To most people, an RC car is just a small toy with a minuscule electric motor, barely fast enough to outrun a walking person. Johnny's V8-powered micro truck is the exact opposite. It has a top speed of 29 kph (18 mph), which is faster than the average human can run. And like any real car, it needs regular maintenance. The video begins with Johnny cleaning off the dust and performing a routine oil change. After draining the old oil, he fills it with 25 ml of 5W-50. It's a little ritual any gearhead can appreciate, even if the car only weighs 8.8 kg (19.4 lbs) and fits on a table. The $2,099 Small-Block Heart Source: YouTube @ JohnnyQ90 Powering his Chevy truck is a water-cooled, four-stroke 44cc OHV small-block V8 made by CISON Gasoline. It puts out around 4.8 horsepower, revs up to 10,000 rpm, and weighs just 1,700 grams (3.75 lbs). Despite its tiny size, it sounds shockingly similar to a full-size American V8. Engines this intricately engineered don't come cheap. The CISON V8 costs $2,099 on its own, and that price climbs quickly once you factor in the body, tires, and potential upgrades like a six-speed transmission or alternator. This isn't a budget-friendly RC build; it's a mechanical work of art, meant for enthusiasts. Why We Can't Stop Watching This V8-Powered Toy Source: YouTube @ JohnnyQ90 Sure, it sounds ridiculous on paper: watching a grown man drive a toy truck back and forth. But bear with us. This isn't just a toy. Watching Johnny clean, maintain, and drive his mini V8 truck is oddly satisfying. There's something undeniably charming about seeing a scale model treated with the same love and care as a full-sized car. Between CISON's attention to detail and JohnnyQ90's passion for his build, it's easy to get lost in the realism. And the occasional moment where the truck flips over because it's too fast for its own good? That's just the cherry on top. About the Author Marnus Moolman View Profile
