Two youths caught with stolen bike during vehicle checking drive

Indore: In a special vehicle checking drive, Indore traffic police arrested two youths with a stolen motorcycle and handed them over to the concerned police station. On Friday, around 10:45 AM, during a special checking operation at Radisson Square led by ACP (Traffic Zone-2) Manoj Khatri, traffic sub-inspector ML Ahirwar and his team noticed two youths coming from Bombay Hospital side on their bikes. One of the riders was seen pushing a numberless bike, as if it broke down, this immediately raised suspicion. They were intercepted by constables Sona and Sonu Prajapati, who then informed SI Ahirwar. The rider was unable to produce valid documents of the vehicle, prompting the officers to verify the chassis number using the VDP app. The verification revealed that the bike was reported stolen under section 379 from Kshipra police station, with the complaint lodged by Babulal on June 6, 2024. The stolen vehicle was seized and later handed over to Khajrana police station. The apprehended individuals were identified as Deependra, resident of Barua village in Chhatarpur district and Monu Yadav, a resident of Ramgarh Khurd village in Guna district.

Loan volume for offices plummets, German bank data show

FRANKFURT, May 22 (Reuters) - The volume of loans to finance office buildings fell sharply in the first three months of the year, Germany's VDP banking association said on Thursday, a grim sign as the nation's real estate sector grapples with its worst crisis in decades. Germany's property sector hit hard times in 2022, with offices coming under particular stress as higher interest rates made borrowing costly and more people worked from home. That resulted in falling prices, and it tipped some property firms into insolvency. The VDP data showed loans for offices dropped 26% in the first quarter to 4.3 billion euros ($4.87 billion), down from 5.8 billion euros a year earlier. The level is also lower than the 4.7 billion euros in loans recorded in the first quarter of 2023. The drop in loan volume contrasts with increases in loans for residential property, as well as other forms of commercial property, including hotel and retail property. The decline comes despite a recent rise in commercial property prices. ($1 = 0.8834 euros)

Golaghat police seize illegal pistol, arrest man after parents alert authorities

1 2 3 4 Dibrugarh: Golaghat police arrested a man and seized an illegal pistol and ammunition from him after his parents alerted authorities about the weapon. Dulon Lahon , a resident of No 2 Tengani village under Barpathar Police Station, has a criminal history. He was arrested on Sunday after police recovered an unlicensed pistol, two live rounds of ammunition, and one spent cartridge from his possession, officials said. The arrest came after Lahon's parents alerted the local Village Defence Party (VDP) members upon discovering the firearm in their son's possession. Acting swiftly, the VDP informed the police, who conducted a raid at the residence and recovered the weapon. "The family members noticed the pistol and immediately reported it to the VDP, showing commendable civic responsibility. Their actions potentially prevented a serious crime from occurring. Legal proceedings against Lahon have been initiated under relevant sections of the Arms Act ," said a senior police officer from Barpathar Police Station. We are investigating the source of the weapon and exploring possible connections to known arms smuggling networks operating along the Assam-Nagaland border," the officer said.
