Valorant is finally adding replays and upgrading to Unreal Engine 5
The hugely popular first-person shooter game Valorant is getting some long-awaited upgrades as the game approaches its 5-year anniversary. In the latest dev update , the Valorant team announced the long-anticipated replay feature. They'll function about the same as replays in other online shooters like Counter-Strike 2, allowing players to revisit their previous matches and watch them from the perspective of any player in the game or from a free-roaming camera. Replays will initially launch on PC with patch 11.06 in September and will come to consoles later in the year. After initially developing and updating the game in Unreal Engine 4 for more than ten years, the dev team announced a port to Unreal Engine 5 with patch 11.02 around the end of July. The Valorant devs say this will bring higher frame rates and faster future patch downloads without changing the current gameplay feel. In their video update , the team teased that moving to Unreal 5 will enable a whole host of possibilities in the future. Competitive players will take particular note of new anti-smurfing initiatives. Smurfing is the practice of higher-ranked players using lower-ranked accounts to gain a competitive advantage by playing against players far below their skill level. In an attempt to further curb this behavior, Valorant will be asking suspicious accounts to complete multi-factor authentication and is exploring requiring it on all competitive accounts. These guardrails will launch later this year with more details to come. Additionally, users who wish to report other players for smurfing can now select a specific "Rank/Matchmaking Abuse" category to help the better identify those accounts. The update also showcased some gameplay balancing measures involving character abilities, teased a new competitive map and highlighted the team's vision for the future of Valorant in esports.

Valorant is switching to Unreal Engine 5 and finally adding replays
Riot Games is planning to switch Valorant, its popular first-person tactical hero shooter, over to Unreal Engine 5 in July. The engine upgrade from Unreal Engine 4 is part of a number of new changes coming to the shooter over the coming months, including a replay system in September. Valorant has been running on Unreal Engine 4 since a beta of the game originally released in 2020, and Riot Games has been using Unreal 4 for more than 10 years to build the game. The upgrade to Unreal 5 will arrive with patch 11.02 at the end of July, and Riot is promising it shouldn't disrupt gameplay. The game's overall look and feel should be similar, and Riot says the engine upgrade will improve framerate performance and make patch downloads faster in the future. It'll be interesting to see what else this engine upgrade unlocks, particularly whether Riot will improve character models and animations in the future. Valorant players that log in while patch 11.02 is live will get a special gun buddy to commemorate the upgrade. The second big upgrade coming to Valorant later this year is the long-requested replay system. It will arrive on PC first with patch 11.06 in September, followed by a release on console later this year. The replay system will let you analyze recently played competitive games at launch, and Riot is looking at adding more modes later. The replay system should help players report cheating or bad player behavior in Valorant, and Riot is also adding multi-factor authentication to the game to help with smurfing in the competitive modes — where higher ranked players log into accounts to boost them. You'll also soon be able to report accounts that are abusing rank or matchmaking. Valorant 's upcoming 11.0 patch later this month will also add a new map to the game, and it will be available in the competitive mode on day one. During the initial patch cycle of two weeks, rank rating (RR) losses on this new map will be cut by 50 percent while Valorant players get used to playing this new map.

‘Valorant' 10.10 Patch Notes Bring PC And Console Closer Together
A new Valorant patch is here. Credit: Riot Games A new set of patch notes has been released for Valorant, and while there aren't too many big balance changes, it does set things up for grater parity between the console and PC versions of Valorant. The Valorant 10.10 patch notes have basically no real balance changes of consequence for standard play. Raze gets a visual update that will more accurately indicate hitboxes for her Boom Bot and Paint Shells, which should make playing against them a littler easier to manage. Other than that, all the balance changes come for the Swiftplay mode. In Swiftplay, new agent Tejo gets a change that sees his Armageddon starting points increase to three from two. Although, this isn't really a change for this patch, it's actually part of his rework from the last patch that went undocumented. Other agent changes come in the form of bug fixes, with the 10.10 patch notes featuring quite a few of them. Omen gets a change reverted from a few patches ago which should stop dead allies spectating Omen being able to see through nearsights, while the really annoying issue where Vyse could no longer use Arc Rose for the remainder of the round if it was placed too close to the spike has also been solved. You can see them all in the full patch notes. The bigger news is mostly behind the scenes, with some UI changes coming to Valorant on console to bring it closer in line with the PC version. This will bring the two versions closer together in terms of features, and should make it easier for the dev team to implement changes across both of them at the same time in the same way. Initially this is just to do with the Collection section of the menus, but you can expect to see a lot more changes like these in the coming months. It's also time for Pick'Ems to return, this time for Valorant Masters Toronto. From May 28th, you will be able to make your picks for the Swiss Stage in-client and on the web, with some rewards on the line if you manage to predict all the results correctly. With Masters just around the corner, it really isn't a surprise to see such a small patch for Valorant, but that should mean we are only a few weeks away from a much bigger patch that should bring some welcome balance changes and maybe even some new content to play with.
