Fubo Sees Disney, Hulu + Live TV Deal Closing Earlier Than Anticipated
Fubo has accelerated the expected timeline for closing its sale to Disney, now anticipating the transaction will close in the fourth quarter of this year or the first three months of 2026. It requires regulatory approval with a review ongoing at the Department of Justice. Fubo stockholders must also approve the deal at a meeting of shareholders, date still to come, the company said in a preliminary proxy filed with the SEC today. More from Deadline 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' Blasts Off With $218M Global Bow; Milestones Aplenty For 'Jurassic', 'Superman', 'F1' & 'Dragon' - International Box Office 'Fantastic Four: First Steps' Lighter At $118M, But Still Super In Opening - Box Office Update 'Paradise' Creator Dan Fogelman Unveils Exclusive Season 2 Sneak Peek At Comic-Con That Introduces Shailene Woodley Previously, the close was expected in the first half of 2026. In January, Disney agreed to combine its Hulu + Live TV with Fubo and become majority owner of the combined company. The agreement was struck in the midst of a legal tussle that saw Fubo challenge a proposed sports streaming joint venture called Venu between Disney, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery as anti-competitive. The partners delayed Venu's launch under a preliminary injunction and ultimately scrapped it and settled with Fubo after a judge denied their motion to dismiss the case. Disney and Fubo simultaneously announced their own deal to create an expanded MVPD player with 6.2 million subscribers. Fubo and Hulu + Live TV will continue to be available to consumers as separate offerings post-closing. Hulu + Live TV, will continue to be streamed in the Hulu app and be offered as part of the bundle with Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+. Fubo will continue to operate in the Fubo app. The agreement gives Fubo the right to launch a new Sports & Broadcast service featuring Disney's sports and broadcast networks including ABC and ESPN well as ESPN+ if the deal closes or not. The new Fubo will continue to be run by current management led by CEO David Gandler. A board of directors has yet to be announced. Fubo will continue to trade on the New York Stock Exchange with the same stock symbol, FUBO. Disney will own 70% of the company. The media has had operating control of Hulu but gained full ownership in June when it completed the acquisition of Comcast's minority stake. Today's filing also included updated, combined pro forma financials for the March 2025 quarter – meaning numbers calculated as if Fubo and Hulu + Live TV were already one company. It reported total revenue of $1.56 billion ($1.12 billion Hulu + Live TV, $416 million Fubo), operating expenses of $1.64 billion, and an operating loss of $85 million. Po forma net income of $134.8 million showed a $41 million loss at Hulu + Live TV and a $188.5 million profit at Fubo, inflated by a $220 million gain that was part of the settlement with Disney, WBD and Fox. Garmin fans, I have good news — we could be about to get 2 new smartwatches very soon
Garmin could be about to announce two brand new fitness-focused smartwatches, according to the latest murmurings across the internet. Specifically, an official tease from the company suggests a new Forerunner model while an unofficial leak could signal a new Venu. Let's start with the official news first. According to an official glimpse from Garmin shared on Chinese social media, we could be looking at a new Forerunner model. The outline of a very Forerunner-esque watch can be seen alongside a date: July 22. Which is tomorrow. According to fitness tipster the5krunner, this could mean one of a few things. Either it's a new China-only model (unlikely) or a region-specific version of a Forerunner that Garmin already makes. Or, failing that, it could of course be a brand new model that we'll get first eyes on this week. Alongside the image outline, the tease has a "1XXX" number alongside it. If that's the product number, it's a strange one — Garmin usually favors a three digit numbering schema. Alternatively, it's the price of the device in yuan. Which, even if it's 1999 yuan ($278 / £207), would make it an affordable Forerunner compared to the other models. Either way, we won't have long to wait to find out if there is a new model coming and whether or not it'll shape up alongside the best Garmin watches already out there. The latest Forerunner is our new top pick for the best Garmin watch. In our Garmin Forerunner 265 review, we called it "a huge improvement" over the previous model. This iteration of the watch brings a gorgeous AMOLED display with a higher resolution, plus Garmin's Training Readiness Score feature. You also get accurate GPS and lots of advanced training metrics at a glance. It's been a minute since Garmin released its last Venu watch, the Garmin Venu 3 back in 2023. So it makes sense the brand would be thinking about a follow-up and according to a report from Notebookcheck, we've just seen our first mention of it. A revised Japanese user manual for the Venu 3, published earlier this month, contains a reference to the Venu 4 when discussing the brand's paid Golf Membership service. The reference states: "In addition, Venu 4 device users can subscribe to Garmin Golf Membership to use course layouts (2nd generation) and PlaysLike distances on the device, and hazard/layup information can be overlaid on the map." Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Which, of course, tells us nothing about the specs or the timeline of the device, other than it likely will exist and probably be useful on the golf course. The Venu 3 was released in August on 2023, so if Garmin wants to keep to the same release cadence, then maybe we'll get more word about the Venu 4 in the coming weeks and possibly a reveal next month. Karnataka High Court dismisses property claim over Bangalore Development Authority land after 53 yrs
Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has dismissed a petition by a Bengaluru resident who sought to challenge a property acquisition made by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) more than five decades ago. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Venu, the petitioner, approached the court contesting BDA's rights over a property in Thippasandra, which was part of a land acquisition process initiated under the City of Bangalore Improvement Act-1945. The preliminary notification for acquisition was issued on Sept 22, 1970, followed by the final notification on July 15, 1971. Venu, who claimed he had purchased the property on Oct 4, 1995 — 25 years after the acquisition — approached the court on Sept 29, 2023, after BDA listed the site for e-auction as part of HAL 3rd Stage layout on Sept 16, 2023. He argued that he had possession of the 1,950 sqft site since 1995, had utilities and khata in his name, and claimed that BDA had never acquired the property. BDA countered that the petitioner had no valid title and pointed to the extensive delay in raising objections. The authority argued that subsequent purchasers cannot challenge acquisition proceedings long after the process is completed. Justice M Nagaprasanna, after reviewing the case, ruled that the petitioner failed to prove ownership or show that landowner Kenchamma had legally sold the site to him. The judge also relied on the Supreme Court rulings that bar subsequent purchasers from contesting land acquisition under the Land Acquisition Act-1894, stating that such purchases are done at the buyer's risk. "There is no need to examine beyond the timeline of events. The petitioner's claim collapses for lack of valid title and the inordinate delay of 53 years," the court observed. The petition was dismissed, leaving the BDA free to proceed with the auction of the site.

Garmin smartwatches gets Google Maps support with turn-by-turn navigation
Garmin has announced that select models of its smartwatches now support the Google Maps app, allowing users to access navigation features directly from their wrist. After setting a destination on Google Maps using an Android smartphone, users will receive turn-by-turn guidance on their Garmin watch while engaging in activities such as walking, cycling, or running. The app is available for free through Garmin's ConnectIQ store and is compatible with certain versions of the Venu, Forerunner, Vívoactive, and Fenix lineups. Navigation and fitness tracking In a blog post, Garmin's Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing, Susan Lyman, said, 'The turn-by-turn notifications will be a game changer for those who want to stay hands-free and keep their phone in their pocket.' With this integration, Garmin smartwatches now deliver turn-by-turn navigation alerts using subtle vibrations, enabling users to follow routes without needing to look at their phone. This feature can be especially useful in crowded areas or when crossing streets. The app can also display the next three turns with a simple tap, providing better situational awareness during movement. The navigation functionality remains active while the watch continues to track fitness data. Whether users are running, walking, or biking, they can receive directions while monitoring metrics such as distance, heart rate, and more. Deeper integration with Health Connect Availability While Garmin has not provided a full list of supported models, users can check the ConnectIQ store to determine compatibility with their device. Although Garmin wearables have long supported third-party navigation tools, the inclusion of Google Maps offers a familiar and reliable alternative, especially for users already within the Android ecosystem.

A dawn to dusk food trail in Dindigul, the land of seeraga samba biryani
I have suitably skipped dinner the pervious night in preparation for my Dindigul trip. A crucial tip to those who plan to visit the town on a food tour: go on an empty stomach. If possible, fast for a week before you start dreaming of seeraga samba biryani, for, you might eat far more than you can handle. Dindigul, located a little less than 65 kilometres from Madurai, is the birthplace of Tamil Nadu's seeraga samba biryani that is now going places. But there is more to the town than just biryani. Here are our picks. Lamb trotters for breakfast In Dindigul, several restaurants serve biryani from as early as 6am. I do not yield to the temptation so early in the day, and try something different. Bangaru Biryani, started in 1931 by Bangarusamy Naidu, has opened a new outlet on Round Road, serving biryani, idli and idiyappam with a range of mutton and chicken sides for breakfast. The small eatery that can seat not more than 12 people, is being run by S Giridharan, great grandson of the founder Bangarusamy. Giridharan's father Subbrayalu Naidu trained under the founder in his younger years. A small framed photo of Subbrayalu hangs on the wall, opposite which the menu is displayed. K Angusamy, the master, lays out a feast on a leaf: idiyappam, idli, lamp trotters soup, mutton chukka, vellai kuruma, naattu kozhi kulambu, and mutton milagu kulambu. There is also a serving of mutton biryani and dalcha. The mutton chukka alone, a dish of popcorn-sized boneless mutton slow-cooked with chilli powder and curry leaves, makes the journey worthwhile. The meat is tender, enveloped in a glistening layer of chilli-infused oil, punctuated by crisp curry leaves. It goes well with the idiyappam. A mention must be made of the creamy mutton vellai kuruma, a Dindigul staple. Angusamy explains that it has ground coconut, cashew nuts and roasted chana dal. This curry is the next most popular dish is the town after biryani. It is mild with a hit of pepper, and can be had with idlis as well as idiyappams and dosas. How much biryani is too much? It is natural to feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of places to eat biryani in town. With three branches, Siva is the new favourite in Dindigul, and I understand why. The oldest outlet, a hole-in-wall place at Begampur, is always packed. Venu, a few blocks away, serves decent biryani too. But there is something about Siva that makes it a tad better. The biryani is light brown, with the rice cooked al dente. The spices are balanced — unlike some restaurants that go a little overboard with cinnamon — and the meat is tender. For people like me who grew up eating Venu, Thalappakatti, and Ponram biryani, Siva's is similar and different at the same time. A Mohan Raj, a relative of the founder K Ganesan, explains that the trick is to source the right ingredients. While the restaurant has been around from 1989, it really took off after the pandemic, with tourists from Chennai, Bengaluru, and Coimbatore visiting the town just for their biryani. 'In 2023, a Japanese restauranteur came to Dindigul for a week-long trip,' recalls Mohan. 'He ate our biryani for lunch every day, alternating it with kari dosai for dinner.' The 32-year-old does not remember his name nor did he understand the guest's language. 'But I do know that he went back happy,' he says. Warm, gooey halwa and jilebis It is common practice for tourists to stop at one of the sweet shops for its jilebis after their fix of biryani. Among the oldest such shops is Jilebi Seshaiyer on Sandhai Road. Established in the 1960s, the shop is the brainchild of SK Seshaiyer, who initially sold sweets on pushcarts at various spots in town. His jilebis gradually grew in popularity and today, are served fresh and mildly warm through the day. A piece of the sweet makes the palate happy, and the owner R Bhuvaneshwari suggests we also try the godhumai halwa. The sticky, chocolate-brown dessert is warm and drips with ghee. Coffee with a side of potato masala A savouries shop in a small lane sells what is arguably the oldest snack in Dindigul. Known as 'Alwar kadai', the shop has been around for over 75 years, selling mixture, boondi, murukku, pakoda, among others. But I arrive there on the last leg of my journey for a taste of its potato pottalam, a dish of boiled, mashed potatoes cooked with onions, turmeric and green chillies. The owner SS Sathyanarayanan who is seated at the counter, says gravely: 'It is not yet 3pm.' The snack is available only then, and gets sold out soon after. Once the masala arrives from the kitchen, it is packed as small dollops in banana leaves. A little after 3.15pm, he offers a pottalam for me to try. It is triangular — the wrapping gives way to warm, thick, potato masala folded in a banana leaf. It is not too heavy flavour-wise, but can make for a nice snack to go with coffee or tea from the many tea shops in town. As for dinner, I decide to make do with coconut water. But one can also do another round at Ponram, Venu, Thalappakatti, and Bangaru, not necessarily in that order. How to get there There are several trains from Chennai that stop at Dindigul, such as the Vaigai Express, Tirunelveli Vande Bharat Express, and Pothigai Express. Madurai is the nearest city with an airport, with regular buses to and from Dindigul.
