Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu on Friday called on governor KT Parnaik at the Raj Bhavan and discussed key security and developmental challenges and opportunities for the state and shared commitment to work collaboratively for a secure, prosperous and digitally empowered the recent approval of the Vibrant Villages Programme along the Indo-Myanmar border, Parnaik expressed sincere appreciation to the Centre for prioritising the upliftment of remote frontier conveyed optimism that the programme would catalyse much-needed development, bringing infrastructure, economic opportunities, and improved quality of life to border residents, an official statement from the Raj Bhavan line with their commitment to good governance, the governor and CM also reviewed the state's progress in digital transformation . The governor emphasised the urgency of integrating all govt schemes and services into a unified digital ecosystem to enhance transparency, monitoring, and delivery efficiency. He also advocated for the digitisation of official records and the Raj Bhavan initiatives to ensure better institutional continuity and public duo held discussions focused on empowering the youth of the state through skill development, with an emphasis on entrepreneurship and self-employment. They also explored ways to boost tourism and promote adventure activities, recognising their potential to drive economic growth and showcase the state's natural beauty.

The two leaders discussed key security and developmental challenges and opportunities, and shared their commitment to work collaboratively for a secure, prosperous, and digitally empowered Arunachal Pradesh, a communiqué from the Raj Bhavan said. Welcoming the recent approval of the Vibrant Villages Programme along the Indo-Myanmar border, the Governor expressed deep appreciation to the Union Government for prioritizing remote frontier areas. He expressed that the programme would significantly boost infrastructure, economic activity, and the quality of life for border residents. The Governor and Chief Minister also reviewed the State's digital governance initiatives. The Governor stressed the importance of integrating all government schemes and services into a unified digital ecosystem to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability. He also emphasised digitizing official records and Raj Bhavan initiatives to ensure better institutional continuity and good governance. Sikkim CM announces 20 per cent quota for Agniveers in state police

Gangtok, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Thursday announced a 20 per cent quota for Agniveers in the state police. The CM made the announcement while attending the 'Shared Vision for Viksit Bharat 2047 – Military-Civil Fusion 2025" here. Tamang said in Sikkim Police constable recruitment there would be a 20 per cent quota for Agniveers and age relaxation for those meeting service criteria. He also announced a 10-year relaxation in the standard upper age limit has been introduced for ex-servicemen who have completed at least six months in the Armed forces, enabling them to apply for these positions till the age of 50. The upper age limit for applying to Sikkim government jobs is 40 years. The chief minister in his address appreciated the Indian Army and the Trishakti Corps for organising this important Military-Civil coordination symposium. He said that the Indian Army plays a vital role not only in securing our borders but also in strengthening the socio-economic fabric of our state. "For a strategically sensitive border state like Sikkim, Military-Civil fusion is not just desirable but essential for national security, infrastructure development, economic progress, and social integration," the CM said. He said the Army's assistance during the 2023 Teesta floods and in other disasters reflects the strength of this partnership. Infrastructure development, especially in roads, tunnels, and digital connectivity, is progressing through coordinated efforts of the Army, BRO, and the state government. The Sikkim CM said Military-Civil Fusion aims to integrate strategic capabilities and developmental goals, sharing knowledge, technology, and resources for a secure and prosperous India. "Sikkim, given its strategic location, plays a crucial role in this fusion. From strengthening border infrastructure and promoting youth participation to encouraging innovation and eco-sensitive tourism, we aim to build on our legacy of harmonious military-civil relations," he stated. Tamang also said that initiatives like the Vibrant Villages Programme and reforms in defence administration have boosted synergy between defence forces and civil authorities. The Sikkim Scouts Regiment exemplifies local participation in national defence.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Uttarakhand's pristine landscapes, this one-of-a-kind endurance event seamlessly blended the raw rush of adrenaline with the serene spirituality of the hills. Over three action-packed days, participants took on cycling, trail running, and road running challenges, traversing some of the most scenic yet demanding terrains the region has to offer. The Indian Army Surya Devbhoomi Challenge was not just about pushing physical limits - it was a powerful platform to spotlight the Vibrant Villages Programme, a government initiative aimed at developing and energizing remote border villages in Uttarakhand. By taking the challenge through villages such as Nelong, Bhatwari, Boodha Kedar, Ghuttu, Triyuginarayan all the way till Sonprayag, this event put a spotlight on these often-overlooked gems, fostering rural tourism and empowering local communities. * Day 1 kicked off with a 105 km cycling trail from Nelong to Bhatwari, pushing riders through high-altitude passes and rugged terrain. * Day 2 saw a 24.5 km trail run with an additional 11.5 km stretch from Bhatwari to Bhoodha Kedar, testing stamina and spirit. * Day 3 offered the final challenge - a 34.7 km trail run from Ghuttu to Triyuginarayan, followed by a 6.6 km road run to Sonprayag, marking an emotional and exhilarating finish line. The event was graced by distinguished members of the Indian Army, who welcomed more than 150 participants who went through the tough yet beautiful terrains of Uttarakhand. The flag-off was done by Lt Gen D G Misra, AVSM, GOC UB Area, thus giving a go-ahead to explore the adventure that was ahead, waiting to be explored.
