‘Kesari Veer' review: Heroism meets history, but misses the mark
Cast: Suniel Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, Sooraj Pancholi, Akanksha Sharma, Aruna Irani, Kiran Kumar, Barkha Bisht, Himanshu Malhotra Director: Prince Dhiman And Kanubhai Chauhan Writer: Kanubhai Chauhan and Shitiz Srivastava Rating: 2/5 Kesari Veer, a historical action-drama set in the 14th century, draws from real-life events to narrate a tale of faith, defiance, and cultural pride. With an epic backdrop of religious resistance and imperial oppression, the film promises grandeur and heroism — but ultimately delivers a patchy, overextended narrative that struggles to hold its ground. Story: The story begins with a heartwarming exchange between a mother and son, introducing the sacred significance of the Somnath Temple and establishing spiritual strength as a central theme. The young boy, Hamirji Gohil, grows up to witness his homeland, Saurashtra, threatened by the tyrannical Tughlaq dynasty. As Jalaluddin Zafar Khan (Vivek Oberoi) plots to raze Somnath and expand his control, Hamirji (Sooraj Pancholi) and the deeply spiritual Bhil community, led by Vegdaji (Suniel Shetty), rise in rebellion. What follows is a classic clash between good and evil — unfortunately, the execution lacks the tension and tightness that such a premise demands. Performances: Sooraj Pancholi delivers a sincere performance as the resolute Hamirji, embodying youthful valor with conviction. Suniel Shetty shines in a role that aligns well with his grounded screen persona, providing the film with a steady moral center. Vivek Oberoi, though visually effective as the power-hungry Zafar Khan, is let down by a one-dimensional role. Debutante Akanksha Sharma, playing Rajal, exudes charm but is underutilized in a story that rarely gives her room to grow. Technicalities: Visually, Kesari Veer is striking. The cinematography captures sweeping landscapes, opulent sets, and traditional costumes that successfully immerse the viewer in a bygone era. The production design is meticulous, and action choreography has its moments of grandeur. However, the film's pacing is hindered by excessive exposition, abrupt song placements, and a runtime of nearly three hours that feels indulgent rather than epic. Analysis: At its core, Kesari Veer wants to be a stirring tale of legacy, sacrifice, and devotion. But while the themes resonate, the film is burdened by a sluggish screenplay, jarring tonal shifts, and lack of emotional depth. The narrative fails to evoke the gravitas or urgency that its historical setting demands. Despite capable performances and stunning visuals, the storytelling is inconsistent and, at times, tiresome. Kesari Veer is a visual spectacle that aspires to tell a powerful story but falls short due to its uneven narrative and lack of emotional engagement. It's a film with noble intentions and historical relevance — but one that ultimately feels more like a missed opportunity than a cinematic triumph.

Kesari Veer, starring Sooraj Pancholi, Suniel Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, and Akanksha Sharma, began its theatrical journey on a low note. The historical drama recorded poor traction on its opening day, indicating a dismal end. The movie couldn't impress the audience much and met with an average word-of-mouth, which is a major concern for the makers. Had the movie received a positive response from the audience, things could have been better. Looks like the re-launch of Sooraj Pancholi isn't going to help him in any way. The actor will have to witness another failure and wait a little long for his first Clean Hit movie. Let's see how the movie grows over the weekend. While Sooraj Pancholi plays the lead role of Hamirji Gohli, Vivek Oberoi essaying the role of the antagonist. Kesari Veer is clashing with Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi starrer Bhool Chuk Maaf and Tusshar Kapoor and Shreyas Talpade's comedy drama Kapkapiii. Kesari Veer Final Advance Booking: Sooraj Pancholi, Suniel Shetty, Vivek Oberoi's period drama sells just 2000 tickets in top national chains
Bollywood movie Kesari Veer, starring Sooraj Pancholi, Suniel Shetty, and Vivek Oberoi in the lead roles, is all set to debut on the silver screens this Friday. The period drama helmed by Prince Dhiman recorded a dull advance booking and is expected to open on a low note. Kesari Veer sells 2,000 tickets in top national chains for Day 1 Backed by Chauhan Studios, the movie sold around 2,000 tickets in the top three national chains- PVR Inox and Cinepolis- for the opening day. The fate of Kesari Veer relies heavily on word-of-mouth. If the movie gets a favourable reception, it can only attract the audience to the cinemas. The movie doesn't have much buzz as its promotional assets couldn't ignite the curiosity among the audience. Based on the low awareness around its release and low advance booking, the Sooraj Pancholi starrer will likely open under Rs 1 crore at the box office. Let's see if the movie can get good walk-ins and spot bookings on its opening day. For the uninitiated, Kesari Veer explores the untold story of a Rajput warrior, Hamirji Gohli, who fought against the Tughlaq Empire to protect Somnath Temple. While Sooraj Pancholi plays the lead role of Hamirji Gohli, Vivek Oberoi will be seen as the antagonist. Kesari Veer will clash with Bhool Chuk Maaf and Kapkapiii. While the latter is not a threat, the Rajkummar Rao starrer comedy drama can definitely dent its box office collection. Kesari Veer in cinemas Kesari Veer will be available in cinemas nearby from May 23rd onwards. You can book your tickets from the online ticket-booking websites or grab them from the counter itself. Vivek Oberoi acquires 21% stake in Scottish company Rutland Square Spirits, to develop luxury hotel in Edinburgh
In a new landmark development, Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi has acquired a 21 per cent stake in Rutland Square Spirits Ltd, a premium Scottish liquor brand known for its tea-infused gin. With the collaboration, India's rich tea heritage will now be fused with Scotland's iconic spirit tradition. Here is everything you need to know about Vivek Oberoi's deal with Rutland Square Spirits: The partnership between Vivek Oberoi and Rutland marks a special convergence of two traditions as it brings together two cultures. Founded by Nishant Sharma, the company has already carved a niche for itself by infusing Assam's long-celebrated while oolong tea with traditional Scottish distillation methods. The company sources its tea from Dibrugarh, often dubbed the 'Tea Capital of the World', as well as from neighbouring areas like Tinsukia and Sivasagar. These teas, which account for around 50 per cent of India's production, are now finding an unexpected yet seamless integration into Scotland's premium spirits industry. As a key milestone in this partnership, plans are underway for a net-zero luxury hotel in Edinburgh—a visionary project set to redefine sustainable hospitality in Scotland. Designed as a landmark development, this world-class retreat will seamlessly blend heritage, innovation, and a deep connection to the land, offering guests an unparalleled luxury experience amid Scotland's breathtaking landscapes. The hotel will also house Scotland's first Ayurvedic wellness centre and Europe's first hydrogen-powered facilities in a powerful collaboration between luxury and sustainability. 'I am thrilled to join Rutland Square. This project is an exciting bridge between two economies and cultures. Scotland is a beautiful country with deep-rooted traditions and a strong Indian business community. I look forward to working closely with the team to bring this vision to life,' Vivek Oberoi said. 'This marks a new chapter in Scotland's hospitality sector, promising a future of sustainability, heritage, and world-class experiences. Rutland Square Spirits is taking it a step further by curating a blended experience of Indian heritage. I am excited to begin the work of bringing it to life,' he added.
