A shopping trip after every work meeting starts a wardrobe in style
T he most fabulous item in my wardrobe is … My 1990s Vivienne Westwood dresses. They remind me of growing up in London and how dressed up we would get for any and all occasions. I worked in media (selling ads in IT magazines) and would follow every meeting with a trip to Selfridges, spending most of my pay on a dress or a pair of shoes. Vivienne had a punk style I was really attracted to – it was the energy of the time. I'm so glad I kept them. I love clothes; I think they're like art. I always say that life is too short for plain biscuits. And that applies to clothes too. My grab-and-go staple is … My black Chanel 22 bag. It's roomy enough to carry my laptop, dry shampoo, hairbrush, make-up, glasses and all my daily supplements. I need a bag big enough to handle anything the day throws at me.

GoFundMe appeal to save Chepstow slipway on River Wye
Vivienne says Chepstow must raise £20,000 to restore its last remaining river access point: the ageing pontoons and walkways, vital for emergency services and river users, from anglers to canoeists and pleasure craft. The fundraising campaign, led by Vivienne Punshon, treasurer of the Chepstow Boat Club, aims to cover material costs and specialist labour. Originally built by community volunteers in 1994, the pontoon is a critical access hub for organisations like the Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA), who rely on it for swift action on the fast-moving waters of the River Wye. Vivienne said: 'We need just one more push to hit our initial goal. This access isn't just a convenience, it's a safety necessity, especially for SARA and the emergency crews who depend on it.' There is a GoFundMe page you can donate to. SARA's Beachley lifeboat manager, Brian Oxenham, reinforced the urgency: 'This is one of the few safe landing points on the Wye. In emergencies, we need to get casualties to ambulances quickly. Without this point, lives are put at greater risk.' Chepstow once had five slipways serving industries such as wool, timber and wine. Today, just one remains accessible; others are blocked by flood defence barriers. The Boat Club views restoration as vital not only for safety but for preserving local heritage. The club has applied for a grant from Chepstow Town Council and hopes additional supporters will step forward. Vivienne added: 'Help us keep the lower River Wye safe for everyone who enjoys it, works on it, or relies on it in emergencies. The pontoon's value goes beyond rescue, it enables nature monitoring, cave exploration, and countless community uses.' Vivienne is confident that with all hands on deck, the £20,000 goal can be reached by the end of summer.
