Broken Promises, Fractured Friendship Forces a Multi-Million Dollar Lawsuit Involving MLB Superstar Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., and Singer Marc Anthony's Company -- Florida Law Firm Lesser Landy Smith & Siegel Representing Plaintiff Jesse Guerrero
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., July 21, 2025 /CNW/ -- He helped facilitate one of the biggest deals in Major League Baseball history for his client and friend, then business manager Jesse Guerrero alleges he was shut out of his own pay day. His client is superstar Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., who signed a record breaking 14-year, $500 million contract extension with the Toronto Blue Jays. Guerrero filed a lawsuit against Magnus Sports, a firm co-founded by global recording artist Marc Anthony and veteran talent agent Michel Vega. Also named in the suit are former Magnus agents Barry Praver and Scott Shapiro. According to the lawsuit, Guerrero played a key role in introducing his longtime friend, Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., to the Defendants to provide agency and management services for the rising baseball phenom's career. In return, Guerrero was quickly cut out by Magnus Sports and unpaid for his work. In a second amended complaint, filed by the West Palm Beach-based law firm Lesser, Landy, Smith & Siegel, PLLC, and pending in the Southern District of Florida, consists of nine causes of action, including breach of contract, breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, fraudulent misrepresentation, and tortious interference with business relationships. "Our client lived up to his end of the deal and delivered as promised," said Gary S. Lesser, Managing Partner of Lesser, Landy, Smith & Siegel, PLLC. "The Defendants chose to not honor the agreement and not pay our client what he's due. Major League Baseball is big business. This is a high-dollar dispute, and we will fight and collect what our client deserves." Guerrero maintains that the Defendants did not honor their agreement with him, leading to a falling out between all the key players involved in the suit. Cubs' Kyle Tucker Comments on Juan Soto and Vladimir Guerrero's Contracts
Cubs' Kyle Tucker Comments on Juan Soto and Vladimir Guerrero's Contracts originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There have been some crazy contracts handed out around Major League Baseball over the past few years, with Juan Soto's and Vladimir Guerrero Jr's coming to mind. Advertisement Soto landed a $765 million deal over 15 years, while Guerrero signed a 14-year, $500 million extension with the Blue Jays at the beginning of the campaign. For the Chicago Cubs, that obviously wasn't ideal, as Kyle Tucker is the next in line to get a big payday. One could make a strong argument that he's better than Guerrero, and he does different things than Soto, despite Soto likely being a better overall hitter. However, when discussing those situations, Tucker recently admitted to The Athletic that he doesn't worry about them too much. Chicago Cubs right fielder Kyle Tucker (30) circles the bases. He added that if something happens, it'll happen, and all he can control is going out there and trying to help the Cubs win games. Advertisement 'I don't necessarily worry about it too much,' Tucker said. 'If something happens, something happens. The only thing I can really control is just going out there and doing the best I can, putting up numbers and trying to help us win games. 'In my eyes, as long as I just try and do that, and do my part in helping us win, I feel like everything else just happens. I can't really control something that's not in my control or try to manipulate something or force something.' It's important to hear that not only is Tucker not too worried about breaking the bank or trying to match up with other players, but looking to win. He's continued to prove that during his time with the Cubs, as he's been a great teammate and even better person off the field. (AP Photo/Nam Y. Huh) CHICAGO (AP) — Chris Bassitt pitched six strong innings, Davis Schneider hit a home run, and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Chicago White Sox 6-1 on Tuesday night in a game that was shortened to six official innings because of rain. The Blue Jays have won 10 games in a row — their longest win streak since they won 11 straight in 2015 — and 12 of 13. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had two hit and two RBIs. Schneider hit a leadoff homer off starter Aaron Civale (1-6) to open the scoring before Guerrero and Addison Barger each hit RBI doubles in Toronto's five-run third inning. Bassitt (9-4) gave up four hits and a run — a solo homer by Josh Rojas in the sixth. Chicago has lost nine straight home games against the Blue Jays. Guerrero hit an RBI single in the sixth to make it 6-0. The rain delay lasted about 1 hour, 20 minutes before the game was called. KEY MOMENT Chicago had two runners on base with one out in the first and second innings but Bassitt got Miguel Vargas and Austin Slater, respectively, to ground into 4-6-3 double plays and end both threats. KEY STAT Toronto (54-38) set a franchise record for wins before the All-Star break. The Blue Jays won 53 games before the break in 1985 and 1992. UP NEXT Toronto's Eric Lauer (4-1, 2.65 ERA) is scheduled to pitch Wednesday against Adrian Houser (4-2, 1.60) to wrap up the three-game series. ___ AP MLB: The Associated Press
