Qatar spikers set for 1st West Asian meet in Bahrain

Qatar's national volleyball team will begin their campaign against Saudi Arabia on Saturday in the inaugural edition of the West Asian Men's Volleyball Championship, taking place in Bahrain from July 17 to 27.
The prestigious regional tournament brings together eight national teams from across West Asia to compete at the highest level.
Qatar have been drawn in Group B alongside Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, while Group A includes Bahrain, Jordan, the UAE, and Lebanon.
Qatar's second clash will be against Oman on July 20 before facing Kuwait in the final group stage match the following day.
Qatar's preparations have intensified with daily training sessions at the Qatar Volleyball Association Hall under the supervision of Argentine coach Camilo Soto.
The players have been showing strong commitment as they aim to deliver a performance worthy of the national team.
Coach Soto emphasized that the championship is a key milestone in the team's preparation, praising the players' performance in the recent Asian Nations Championship, also hosted by Bahrain, where Qatar claimed the bronze medal.
Qatar player Dhahi Mubarak stressed the importance of maintaining high focus throughout the tournament.
Hosts Bahrain, in coordination with the West Asia Volleyball Association, are ensuring that all logistical, organizational, and technical aspects are aligned with international standards.
The organizing committee is working diligently on venue readiness, team accommodations, transportation, and event protocols to guarantee a successful and smooth championship.
