Safeguarding culture along with literature is vital: Governor

Hyderabad: Telangana State Governor Jishnu Dev Varma stated that in today's society, it is the responsibility of everyone to protect not only literature but also culture. He inaugurated the Saraswati Literary Fest organised by the Varma Foundation on the occasion of Vyasa Purnima at JNTU on Thursday as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he said that 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, the idea that the whole world is one family, was given to us a thousand years ago to instill the thought that everyone in society is part of our family. No matter how fast we advance in the name of technology, only if we stay rooted to our origins will we achieve the right results'. He said that India's cultural heritage must be carried forward alongside development and added that the concept of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' forms the basis for today's idea of a global village. Varma Foundation Chairman Varma, speaking on the occasion, said that this festival is not limited to books alone but serves as a platform for expression of thought, writing, and dialogue. He informed that the celebrations will continue for two days. He mentioned that for the past few years, Saraswati Literary Fests have been organised in various states with the aim of showcasing India's historical greatness to students through diverse artistic presentations. As part of the fest, on the first day, debates and storytelling sessions were held on topics such as the importance of Indian knowledge systems in the 21st century, storytelling in the entertainment industry, stories in the digital age, and sustainable literature, along with Panchatantra tales. He revealed that this programme is being organised with the support of the Telangana State Department of Language and Culture. The event was also attended by Dr. B.V.R Mohan Reddy, Founder of Cyient, along with representatives from Amaravani and Jignasa Foundations.

Gold Crown Worth Rs 59 Lakh Donated By Anonymous Donor At Shirdi Temple

An anonymous donation of ornaments worth Rs 65 lakh was made at the Sai Baba temple in Shirdi on the occasion of Guru Purnima on Thursday. The donation included a gold crown worth Rs 59 lakh weighing 566 grams, gold flowers weighing 54 grams, and a silver necklace weighing 2 kg. The devotee did not reveal their name or address while offering the jewellery. Thousands of devotees visited the temple on Guru Purnima, leading to long queues that lasted for nearly five hours. Speaking about the offering, Goraksh Gadilkar, CEO of Sai Trust Shirdi, said, "This is just a valuable donation in monetary terms, but also a symbol of deep devotion and reverence. The crown and the necklace offered are not mere metals, but a proof of devotion and gratitude from the heart of that Sai devotee." "Guru Purnima has been celebrated at the Sai Baba temple in Shirdi since 1908. Every year, the temple receives huge offerings from devotees across the country," he added. People from across India as well as abroad visit the temple, the CEO said, adding that foreigners from 61 countries have come to offer prayers. "Even now, devotees from Germany, Colombia, and Sri Lanka have come to visit the temple," he said. Guru Purnima, also known as Vyasa Purnima, is celebrated across Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain communities in India, Nepal, Bhutan and many other countries. It commemorates the birth of Maharishi Ved Vyasa, revered as the compiler of the Vedas and author of the Mahabharata, whose spiritual legacy as the Adi Guru (original teacher) continues to shape these traditions.

Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh) [India], July 10 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav reached Maharshi Sandipani Ashram located in Ujjain district on the occasion of Guru Purnima on Thursday, worshipped Maharshi Sandipani, Guru of Lord Krishna and remembered the legacy of imparting knowledge. After performing the rituals of worship, CM Yadav spoke to reporters and said that he has been visiting Sandipani Ashram on the occasion of Guru Purnima for the last several years and worshipping Maharshi Sandipani. 'The history of Maharshi Sandipani Ashram has been extremely glorious and unique. About 5000 years ago, Lord Krishna, his friend Sudama and his elder brother Balram came here and received education from Maharshi Sandipani. Lord Shri Krishna studied 14 Vidyas and 64 arts in a very short time under the guidance of his Guru Maharshi Sandipani. Lord Krishna earned the title of Jagatguru by receiving the knowledge from Maharshi Sandipani. At present, India is again reclaiming its glorious past,' the CM said. The Chief Minister further extended his heartfelt greetings to everyone on the occasion of Guru Purnima. According to the descendants of Maharshi Sandipani and priest of the temple, every year a special program is organised in the ashram on the occasion of Guru Purnima. Special worship and Panchamrit Abhishek were performed in the morning here at Sandipani Ashram, and the students who started their education for the first time worshipped the slate board here on the occasion.
