Wisconsin Dominates All-WCHA Teams
The Western Collegiate Hockey Association has announced their All-WCHA and All-Rookie teams for the 2024-25 NCAA women's hockey season. They'll announced individual award winners at tthe 2024-25 WCHA Kwik Trip Final Faceoff held from March 7-8.
Headlining the All-WCHA First team are Wisconsin stars Casey O'Brien, Laila Edwards, and Kirsten Simms, as well as defender Caroline Harvey. Ohio State blueliner Emma Peschel and Minnesota-Duluth goalie Eve Gascon round out the First Team.
O'Brien recently broke Hilary Knight's all-time scoring record for the University of Wisconsin and led the NCAA in scoring this season.
The All-WCHA Second Team was headlined by Minnesota's Abbey Murphy. Rounding out the forward group was Wisconsin's Lacey Eden and Ohio State's Joy Dunne. On the back end, Minnesota's Sydney Morrow, Minnesota-Duluth's Tova Henderson, and Minnesota-Duluth's Nina Jobst-Smith tied in voting. Wisconsin's Ava McNaughton earned Second Team goaltending honors.
Looking at the All-WCHA Third Team, Minnesota-Duluth forwards Olivia Mobley and Clara Van Wieren, along with Ohio State's Jocelyn Amos filled out the forwards. Minnesota rookie Chloe Primerano and Wisconsin's Laney Potter were Third Team blueliners, while Sanni Ahola of St. Cloud State was the goalie.
The WCHA's All-Rookie team is a star studded group showcasing the future of the conference. Primerano was joined by Minnesota teammate Gracie Graham on the blueline, while Minnesota-Duluth forward Caitlin Kraemer, Wisconsin's Maggie Scannell, and Ohio State's Jordyn Petrie were the offensive trio. Finnish netminder, Emilia Krykko of St. Cloud State was the final All-Rookie team member.
