Destructive Dwarshuis gives Australia 5-0 sweep of WI T20s
Destructive Dwarshuis gives Australia 5-0 sweep of WI T20s 'Against a quality team you can't get away with that' BASSETERRE: Ben Dwarshuis removed both openers and took the crucial wicket of top-scorer Shimron Hetmyer as Australia beat the West Indies on Monday in Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis, to sweep the T20 series 5-0. Chasing a modest 171 to win the fifth T20 international, Australia recovered from 25-3 and 60-4 to score 173-7 with three overs to spare. Cameron Green anchored the middle-order recovery with 32, big-hitting Tim David raced to 30 off 12 balls with four sixes and a four, and Mitchell Owen scored 37. When Green departed, Australia were 141-6, still needing 30, and the West Indies sniffed a consolation win. But Aaron Hardie kept his composure to see Australia home by three wickets with an unbeaten 28. 'I didn't expect 5-0 at the start of the series. But we played some great cricket,' said Australia captain Mitchell Marsh. West Indies captain Shai Hope pinpointed the reason for his team's failure to win a match. 'We never put together a proper batting display. We either started well or finished poorly or the other way round,' said Hope. 'Against a quality team you can't get away with that.' The West Indies were in trouble early, having been asked to bat when Marsh won the toss. Dwarshuis removed Brandon King for 11 and Hope for nine to reduce the hosts to 22-2 in the fourth over. That became 64-4 until Hetmyer led a fightback, hitting three fours and three sixes on his way to a half-century. It looked like the left-hander might take the West Indies to a challenging total, but Dwarshuis returned to induce a miscue to Sean Abbott at long-off from a slower bouncer. Hetmyer departed for 52 from 31 balls to leave West Indies 155-7 in the 17th over. 'It was a little bit of a slower wicket so we tried to hit the wicket hard and use the slower balls as well,' said Dwarshuis, who was named player of the match. Australia also won the three Tests which preceded the T20 series to sweep all eight matches on the tour. — AFP

'I didn't expect 5-0': Mitchell Marsh left shellshocked as Australia sweep way West Indies
With the three-wicket win on Monday in the fifth T20I, the Australian men's team completed the first T20 series sweep by Aussies in the West Indies as they ended the tour with a perfect 8-0 record. read more West Indies have been clean swept 5-0 by Australia in their strongest format T20Is. Image: AFP Australia completed a 5-0 sweep of the West Indies in their Twenty20 international series with Ben Dwarshuis's bowling paving the way for a three-wicket victory in Basseterre, Saint Kitts on Monday. Mitchell Owen top-scored for Australia with 37 off 17 balls, while Cameron Green (32), Tim David (30) and Aaron Hardie (28 nout out) all made valuable contributions as the visitors reached their target of 171 with 18 balls to spare. The win sealed the first T20 series sweep by an Australian men's team in the West Indies, and saw them end the tour with a perfect 8-0 record after a similar sweep in the three-Test series. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'I didn't expect 5-0 at the start of the series,' Australia captain Mitchell Marsh said. 'But we played some great cricket. It was something we spoke about after the fourth game. 'We knew no Australian team had completed a clean sweep. We've had guys come in and played different roles for us.' Marsh praises Aussie players as WI suffer another blow The match featured 15 sixes, which Marsh attributed to the size of the venue. 'I think it's a small ground, so there's always going to be more sixes than normal,' he said. 'But I think if you look down our batting order in all the five games, we had a lot of power and I guess the messaging was just to play their natural game.' Marsh also lauded the performance of his relatively inexperienced bowlers in the death overs. 'I'm pretty sure in the last four overs, we didn't go for more than 40 or 50 across the five games,' he said. 'It's really hard to do. So I think all of them executed. Nathan Ellis was outstanding, Sean Abbott was brilliant. Ben Dwarshuis hasn't played a lot, did a really good role, and even Xavier Bartlett has grown and grown as a bowler.' West Indies fans must have feared the worst when Australia won a fifth straight toss and bowled the hosts out for 170, a total they reached thanks in large part to Shimron Hetmyer's knock of 52 off 31 balls. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Dwarshuis picked up Hetmyer's wicket as well as those of openers Brandon King (11) and Shai Hope (9). 'It was a little bit of a slower wicket so we tried to hit the wicket hard and use the slower balls as well,' said Dwarshuis, who was named player of the match. Australia return home for a limited-overs series against South Africa, while the West Indies play Pakistan in three T20Is and three one-day internationals.

West Indies vs Australia 5th T20 playing 11, live toss time and streaming
Australia currently lead the five-match T20I series against West Indies 4-0 and are poised to seal a clean sweep in the fifth and final game. After a dominant performance in the fourth T20I, where Australia chased down a challenging total of 205 with three wickets to spare, momentum firmly lies with the visitors. West Indies posted a competitive 205/9 batting first, despite early setbacks with key batsmen like Brandon King, Shai Hope, and Roston Chase failing to capitalize. Sherfane Rutherford's quickfire 31 and valuable contributions from Rovman Powell, Romario Shepherd, and Jason Holder helped set a daunting target. However, Australia's chase was well-paced, with Glenn Maxwell and Josh Inglis laying a solid foundation through quick runs. Cameron Green's unbeaten 55 off 35 balls anchored the innings and sealed the victory in the final over, showcasing his importance as Australia's leading run-scorer in the series. For West Indies, Shai Hope remains their top scorer with 176 runs, while Jason Holder leads the bowling attack with five wickets. Australia's success has been powered by Cameron Green's 173 runs and Adam Zampa's seven wickets. Heading into the fifth T20I, West Indies will need to address their top-order struggles and look for consistent performances to challenge Australia's dominance and avoid a whitewash on home soil. Australia, confident and in form, will aim to close out the series emphatically.
