Jonnu Smith hoping 'his dream team' Dolphins don't trade him
Jonnu Smith hoping 'his dream team' Dolphins don't trade him Jonnu Smith is hoping he won't be traded by the Miami Dolphins, according to his agent. "Here's what I will say on behalf of my client: Jonnu would definitely like to stay in Miami," Smith's agent Drew Rosenhaus said on WSVN, via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. "That's his first choice. This is where he lives in the offseason. He had a record breaking season last year. It was the best season ever for a Miami Dolphin tight end. "His dream team is the Dolphins. Hopefully, everything works out where he can stay in Miami." Smith, 29, broke the Dolphins' franchise records for receptions (88), receiving yards (884), and receiving touchdowns (8) in a season by a tight end in 2024. It was his first year with Miami after joining the team on a two-year, $8.4 million deal in free agency. But after earning Pro Bowl honors with his record-breaking numbers, Smith has reportedly asked for a pay raise heading into the 2025 season. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Smith "wants a lot" and the Dolphins have reportedly looked to the trade market rather than agree to the tight end's request. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Dolphins have spoken with the Pittsburgh Steelers about a deal involving Smith. Behind Smith on the depth chart at the tight end are Pharaoh Brown, Julian Hill, and Tanner Conner.

Man's seven chilling words after 'stabbing young hairstylist to death'
Jackson Sagesse, 27, has been charged with premeditated murder and attempted first-degree murder after allegedly stabbing a successful young hair stylist to death A huge 280lb knifeman is said to have bragged to police he had stabbed a successful young hairstylist to death with a steak knife. Hailey Horsford had only just exited a rental car after arriving in Retreat at Sawgrass Village in Sunrise, Florida at 1.30am on May 8 when she is said to have spotted armed Jackson Sagesse approach her in the darkness. The 27-year-old allegedly then jumped into the back of her car, a black Mercedes, on the rear passenger side. An affidavit alleges that Sagesse ripped the door from its handle. Horsford was found after she was stabbed multiple times, with her male friend left injured. The New York Post, which viewed the affidavit, reports Sagesse allegedly boasted "I just killed someone and walked away" while he was being read his Miranda rights. According to the police, a physical altercation between Hosford and Sagesse was captured on CCTV in which the Sagesse could be seen making repeated stabbing motions into the car. Sagesse could then be seen exiting the car, and is confronted by Ms Horsford's friend, with the two involved in a "violent confrontation" before Sagesse stabs the unnamed man in the throat. He managed to escape and later called the police, with Sagesse allegedly returning to the vehicle and mounting a failed bid to escape before he is seen searching the area and then leaving the garage. Police arrived at the scene to find Hosford unresponsive having suffered multiple stab wounds to her neck and throat. She was pronounced dead at 2.01am. Her friend, who survived the attack, suffered a puncture wound to the throat. Hosford was a successful hair stylist who owned her own beauty salon in Fort Lauderdale. She also worked as a teacher and ambassador for a yoga and retreat company. Her friends have remembered the stylist as a "force to be reckoned with". Aubrey Rosebrock told local outlet WSVN she believed her friend "fought" and that "she was scared" during the encounter that claimed her life. She said: "I know she was a fighter; I believe she fought, and I believe she was scared." Mr Rosebeck also revealed the heartbreaking final message he received from Ms Horsford. He said: "Her very last message to me was, 'I just wanted to tell you that the sun is shining, the sky is blue, the water is turquoise, and that I love you much, and that you mean the world to me,' and that was the very last thing she said." Police later revealed that detectives searching inside the phone found blood smeared on the back door and discovered two kitchen knives were missing. Sagesse later said he was "murdering for self-defense" after seeing what he claimed was a suspicious-looking car. However, he failed to justify the threat that led to his actions. Sagesse was charged with premeditated murder and attempted first-degree murder. He remains in the Broward County Jail, where he was placed after booking, and is being held without bail.

78-Year-Old Florida Woman On Social Security Has Been Living In Her Car For Months Because She Can't Afford Rent: 'I Eat One Meal A Day For $2.02'
A 78-year-old South Florida woman named Carolyn is now the face of a crisis quietly growing in one of the country's most expensive regions: senior homelessness. In a powerful segment aired last week by South Florida's WSVN-TV, the longtime resident shared how she's been living in her car for nearly two months because her Social Security check doesn't stretch far enough to cover rent. Her car, a 22-year-old sedan she calls "my baby," is packed with essentials. Her clothes hang neatly in the back seat. In the trunk, she stores her silks — dry-clean-only garments she hasn't been able to afford to care for in a long time. "I'm a neat freak," she said. "This is my dry cleaning — my silks — which I can't afford right now." Don't Miss: Hasbro, MGM, and Skechers trust this AI marketing firm — Inspired by Uber and Airbnb – Deloitte's fastest-growing software company is transforming 7 billion smartphones into income-generating assets – Carolyn sleeps in the driver's seat, upright, with her legs crunched for hours. "My ankles and legs are swollen from having to sit all the time," she said. She gets by on just one meal a day — "I eat one meal a day for $2.02," she said — and stretches it further with a free senior drink. "I buy a jug of water. It's cheaper," she added. With no housing, her gym membership through Medicare has become her lifeline. "I do go shower and do my makeup, my hair," she said, still holding on to dignity despite the circumstances. Her only income is Social Security. Over the years, she's sold off many of her belongings, but the rising cost of living left her without options. "I look at it as a journey," she said, trying to stay hopeful. "I've had many journeys in my life." Carolyn's story struck a nerve with Cassandra Ratliff, the housing and social services manager for the City of Pompano Beach. "It could be my aunt. It could be my mother," Ratliff said. "It just breaks my heart just how humble Carolyn is." Trending: Maker of the $60,000 foldable home has 3 factory buildings, 600+ houses built, and big plans to solve housing — Ratliff is now helping Carolyn find permanent housing. For now, the city has temporarily placed her in a hotel after her car started leaking during a recent downpour. According to Ron Book, chairman of the Miami-Dade Homeless Trust, elderly people living on the streets are especially at risk. "We know if you put vulnerable elderly on the street, they're going to die earlier," he said. And the numbers are climbing. In 2019, seniors aged 65 and older made up 8% of Miami-Dade County's homeless population. By 2024, it had jumped to 14%. If trends continue, that number could hit 22% by 2030. While average rent in Florida has dipped slightly — down $151 from last year, according to Zillow — it still sits at $2,349, far outpacing what many seniors can afford. The average monthly Social Security retirement benefit in April was $1,999, leaving a gap too wide for many to bridge. "The face of homelessness has changed," Book warned. "I want people in our community to think about their mothers and their grandmothers and their grandfathers being homeless for the first time."Carolyn echoed the same sobering thought: "It can happen to anyone. Don't think it can't — because I never thought about it." Despite everything, she's trying to use her voice to help others. "Other people may need somebody to be their spokesperson," she said. "This is the only thing I ever felt ashamed of in my life. And I truly felt ashamed. But this is the right thing to do." Even while sleeping in her car and surviving on a budget that barely covers food, Carolyn hasn't lost her humor or resilience. "She's falling apart — like me," she joked about her old car. Now, with a temporary roof over her head and a caseworker fighting for her, Carolyn is hoping this new chapter leads to something better — not just for herself, but for others silently suffering the same way. And there are likely many more. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, about 22% of Florida's nearly 23 million residents are 64 or older, giving it the third-highest senior population in the country. As that number grows, so does the urgency — because Carolyn's story isn't rare. It's a warning. 'Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Simply shocking. I mean, you get the first-person perspective of having a gun pointed at you.' Accord to WSVN, Uber confirmed that the driver in question has been removed from their app while they continue to investigate.
