Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery Trailer Offers Clues But Not Everything

Daniel Craig returns as Detective Benoit Blanc in Knives Out 3. The new trailer for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery provides just a few clues about the story without revealing too much. Daniel Craig returns as detective Benoit Blanc and this time, a mystery involving something supernatural may test him. The trailer, unveiled at Tudum 2025, doesn't clearly reveal the victim's identity, but it could be Simone Vivane, played by Cailee Spaeny. In the newly released trailer, Benoit is seen interacting with several cast members but not as much with Simone. According to Screen Rant, the trailer creates some mystery around Simone's presence. She isn't clearly shown, but there are two shots – one from behind and another of a woman surrounded by a red light. She doesn't appear much elsewhere in the trailer, and many believe both shots could be of Simone. Speaking about the cast of Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, director Rian Johnson told Tudum, 'We've been very lucky with each of these movies to have gathered some of my favourite actors on the planet, and that's absolutely the case here. They're also all lovely folks who get along, which is the dinner party aspect of it. When you're making an ensemble movie like this, I think that's key." The title Wake Up Dead Man comes from a U2 song released in 1997 on their album Pop. Johnson feels that the album doesn't get enough credit and thinks the song fits perfectly as the title for his film. He also shared that the phrase Wake Up Dead Man had stayed with him for a long time. He first came across it while listening to old American folk music. Other than Daniel Craig and Cailee Spaeny, the upcoming suspense thriller also stars Josh O'Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Daryl McCormack and Thomas Haden Church. The movie will be streaming on Netflix from December 12. First Published:

With Daniel Craig returning as detective Benoit Blanc , speculation is already mounting about the identity of the central murder victim. And if early observations from the trailer are any indication, Cailee Spaeny's character, Simone Vivane, may be the one who meets a tragic fate, as mentioned in a report by Knives Out 3 trailer is deliberately sparse in plot details, instead leaning into gothic overtones and a moody atmosphere — a stark shift from the colorful, satirical tone of Glass Onion.
