'I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is,' Johnson teased in a statement posted to X . Jeremy Renner addresses ex-wife's abuse allegations: ‘It's clickbait, and it hurts my feelings'
In a candid new interview with The Guardian, actor Jeremy Renner has addressed the serious allegations made against him by ex-wife Sonni Pacheco during their 2019 divorce and custody proceedings. The 'Hawkeye' and 'Avengers' star said he was falsely accused and described the experience as both painful and dehumanising. 'Being accused of things you've not done, right? That doesn't feel good to anybody,' Renner said, referring to Pacheco's past claims that he had allegedly threatened to kill her and himself. 'It certainly doesn't feel good when you're a celebrity and it's known to everybody.' Pacheco, a Canadian model, was married to Renner for ten months before filing for divorce in December 2014. During the custody dispute over their daughter Ava, now 12, Pacheco alleged that Renner once put a gun in his mouth, fired into the ceiling while their daughter was in the house, and left drugs within reach of the child. Renner denied all allegations at the time. In his recent interview, Renner described the media's coverage of these claims as exploitative and damaging: 'It's all the salaciousness that happens out there. It's clickbait, and it hurts my feelings and it dehumanises people.' While Pacheco reportedly sought sole custody of their daughter, the former couple currently share joint custody. Asked if he ever feared losing custody, Renner dismissed the idea: 'That's just lawyers talking. That's lawyers arguing. The custody was easy.' He went on to say that their co-parenting dynamic has since improved: 'Her mum and I get along very well, and we're in each other's lives. It's lovely.' Despite their turbulent history, Renner now prefers to keep their relationship private. 'It's no one's business,' he stated firmly. On the work front, Jeremy was last seen in 'Mayor of Kingston'. He will next be seen in a pivotal role in 'Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery'. The film will be the third film in the Knives Out franchise, led by Daniel Craig's Benoit Blanc. The film will also feature Josh O'Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church. Directed by Rian Johnson, the film will release on December 12, 2025, on Netflix.

Rian Johnson reveals future plans for more parts of the 'Knives Out' franchise, ahead of the third installment's release
Filmmaker Rian Johnson is talking about what the future holds for the Knives Out franchise, and it appears that Benoit Blanc fans will have more mysteries to ponder after the third installment. Johnson recently told Rolling Stone that he is excited to continue the murder mystery story and that the process continues to inspire him creatively. 'I feel great! Because I have genuinely taken a swing each time that I didn't think would work,' Johnson said. 'Ultimately, that's the thing you're trying to avoid. The second you feel like you know how to do this, that leads nowhere good.' Every Knives Out film is intended to be a novel and distinctive experience, Johnson underlined. 'With the movies, we can keep doing that,' he stated. 'I don't have something in my head right now. You kind of burn the ship into the sea each time and ask yourself, 'How will I make anything ever again?' But I would keep doing them as long as I can.' The franchise started with the critically and commercially successful films Knives Out in 2019 and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery in 2022. By the end of 2025, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the third movie, will be available on Netflix. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it legal? How to get Internet without paying a subscription? Techno Mag Learn More Undo Regarding the new movie's tone, Johnson disclosed that Wake Up Dead Man will be very different from the previous one. 'It's incredibly different,' he remarked. 'It's much more a Gothic, much more grounded tone. It's more similar to the first one in that way. It kind of gets back to the real origins of the genre, which, predating [Agatha] Christie, go back to [Edgar Allan] Poe.' The future of Knives Out appears bright—and mysterious—with Daniel Craig returning to his role as detective Benoit Blanc and Johnson still full of new ideas.
