One Piece's Elbaf mural reveals a hidden war between ancient races
The Elbaf Island mural shows a secret war from the Void Century—and it includes nearly every major race in One Piece. If you're not familiar with One Piece, it's a massive global anime phenomenon filled with pirates, fun and powers, and the mysteries of life. One of its largest lingering mysteries is the 'Void Century'— a lost 100 years of history that the world government has wiped from existence. With the recent Elbaf arc, a giant mural has finally surfaced to show what actually occurred! The mural, painted on the mythical Adam Tree in Elbaf (the land of giants), depicts a titanic clash between all the races of the world. Every race, every country together, shoulder-to-shoulder, fighting side-by-side in this united front against this one formidable and horrifying foe. Fans are convinced that this piece of artwork provides an insight into the wonderful war that took place during the incredibly obscure Void Century. Here's a complete rundown of all the races we know so far represented in the Elbaf mural, who they are, and why they're important. 1. Humans: The heart of the world Most Common Race | Best-Known Character: Monkey D. Luffy Humans, the real majority The humans of the One Piece world are divided among various kingdoms and islands. Often at a physical disadvantage to other races, humans still manage to take the reins and direct significant historical events. Similar to Luffy, the anime's protagonist. Most touchingly on the mural, humans are depicted sailing together with other races, including Wano warriors alongside and even what appears to be people from the Kingdom of Arabasta! 2. Giants: Elbaf's mighty warriors Massive in Size and Strength | Best-Known Characters: Dorry & Brogy Giants are towering warriors who mainly inhabit the island of Elbaf. Famed for their raw power and military prowess, they are able to determine the fate of entire wars. Notice how in the mural, a giant is clearly leading the charge in the middle, perhaps representing Elbaf's central role in this ancient battle. Their return to the narrative has sparked excitement toward uncovering the giants' true past. 3. Ancient giants: The lost titans Larger Than Even Giants | Best-Known Character: Oars Fabled Ancient Giants were an even more powerful version of today's giants. They are so big in fact they dwarf even the biggest monsters. One mural scene depicts an Ancient Giant preparing to hurl a spear towards alarmed foes, demonstrating how crucial their might was in this long lost conflict. Elbaf's prince Loki is said to bear their bloodline. 4. Mink tribe: Animal warriors of Zou Animal-Human Hybrids | Best-Known Characters: Inuarashi & Nekomamushi Along the way, they encounter Minks, humanoid animals who live on the back of the giant, centuries-old elephant, Zunesha. Along with the transformations you can perform under the full moon, which take the form of 'Sulong forms,' these periods are incredibly powerful and just look amazing. The mural depicts both standard Minks and a Sulong Mink storming the enemy. They battled alongside Wano's samurai and were once members of Pirate King Gold Roger's crew. 5. Dwarves: Tiny but tough fighters Small in Size, Big in Strength | Best-Known Character: Leo That's not to mention the Tontatta Dwarves, tiny folk of Dressrosa. Even at that massive size, they're able to be the fastest land animal and have the strength of being a megafauna. In the mural, they're pictured to the left of the mermaid princess, storming ahead with their spears drawn. As such, they're now members of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. 6. Mermaids: Guardians of the sea kings Ocean Dwellers | Best-Known Character: Princess Shirahoshi As you may know, mermaids inhabit the ocean, famed for their mesmerizing beauty and inexplicable magic. Only a single mermaid swims through the mural. Her upturned tail suggests she's a princess, able to summon Sea Kings to do her bidding. There's a good chance that power would win any war before it starts. The current princess, Shirahoshi, is this generation's Sea King summoner. 7. Lunarians: Winged flame-wielders Sky Warriors with Fire Powers | Best-Known Character: King Now on the brink of extinction, lunarians are a beautiful race with dark wings and the ability to conjure flames. Once a scourge and terrible, now they dwell in lore. A Lunarian depicted in the mural is clearly shown attacking from above, implying superiority in the skies. The only survivor so far today from the All Star liquidation is the last of the All Stars, King, former right-hand man to Kaido. 8. Birkans: Sky people from the moon One of Three Sky Races | Best-Known Character: Enel Birkans are a winged race from the moon that now inhabit Skypiea. Though physically weaker than Lunarians, they were responsible for crafting expansive, beautiful civilizations spanning continents. In the mural, a Birkan hovers over a herd of runaway humans, perhaps in pursuit of the mythical vessel Noah. After the climax of Skypiea, Enel, the 'god' of Shandia, departed from Earth completely and returned to the Moon. 9. Longarm tribe: Double-jointed warriors Extra Arm Joint for Better Combat | Best-Known Character: Scratchmen Apoo The Longarm Tribe longarms have two joints in their arms, granting them greater flexibility and distance in combat. In the mural, they're depicted alongside their cousins, the Longleg Tribe, rushing side-by-side into war. Apoo, one of the Supernovas, is easily the most recognizable Longarm in the narrative. 10. Longleg tribe: Powerful kickers Long Legs with Amazing Reach | Most Famous Member: Charlotte Smoothie The Longllegs have exceedingly long legs, which they use for vicious kicks. Their idyllic presence in the mural, side by side with Dragonborn and other human-like races, underscores their importance in the ancient war. Smoothie, the governor of the Totto Land territory in service of her mother, is yet another heavyweight fighter in the Big Mom Pirates, and their strongest named member. Why this Mural is so important This mural may be the greatest National Treasure-level clue so far about the lost history of the One Piece world. It uncovers the mystery that when all of the world's races used to be on equal footings, they fought together against a common foe—the possible ancestor of the World Government. It foreshadows how Luffy's current adventure will parallel that old fight, as he's bringing together diverse peoples, nations, and pirate alliances for a shared purpose. Is Luffy repeating history? From giants to mermaids, Lunarians to dwarves, just about every race depicted in the mural has some link to Luffy's crew or allies at this point. As our heroes dive deeper into the Elbaf arc, this ancient war may just serve as the blueprint for the final war yet to come. For longtime fans and, hopefully, new viewers, Elbaf's massive mural could hold the answer to finally discovering what the Void Century is all about and what Luffy needs to do to remake the world in his image. One Piece: Zoro's next power-up will be a new type of haki to defeat immortals
In the Elbaf arc, Zoro is about to unlock a new Haki ability—one that targets the soul and may help him defeat the strongest enemies yet. In the upcoming Elbaf arc—assuming that everyone can get past this pointless little Kadai beast and not be distracted by it—Zoro is going to be introduced to a new Haki ability altogether—one that attacks the soul directly, and that is going to be necessary if he is to defeat the strongest enemies introduced so far. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now One Piece is easily one of the most popular anime and manga series on the planet. It centers on a pirate crew captained by Monkey D. Luffy as they hunt for the fabled treasure called the 'One Piece.' Each of his crew members are extremely formidable, but one of the most beloved characters is the super-human swordsman Roronoa Zoro. Zoro is a master swordsman with serious disposition, massive strength. For good reason, as he's had some of the biggest baddies of the entire series—and now, as a foray into the climax of the Elbaf arc, fans think he's on the verge of unlocking a huge new ability that will turn everything from a fistfight into a street fight. Zoro already has conqueror's haki—But it's not enough During the Wano arc, Zoro had a climactic battle against the equally powerful King, whose bounty was 1.39 billion berries. Through this brutal struggle, Zoro achieved Conqueror's Haki, one of the most rare and potent forms of energy in the One Piece universe. This advanced type of Haki gives the user the ability to dominate others with their spirit and even imbue their weaponry with it for tremendous effect. Zoro's sword Enma enabled to unleash this dormant power by forcing his Haki beyond its limits. 'Then I will become the King of Hell!' — Zoro, after defeating King After this battle, Zoro's bounty increased to 1.111 billion berries, ensuring he is one of the most deadly pirates in existence. Even that power, though, may not be enough to face the new villain's threat on Elbaf. Imu and the immortal army are the biggest threat yet In the ongoing Elbaf arc, the story has definitely escalated to a new degree. The enigmatic ruler of the world, Imu, finally stepped into the main story line. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Imu is more than a political leader. They are extremely powerful, apparently immortal, and even lead a demon army called the Holy Knights. These foes are unlike any the Straw Hat Pirates have confronted in the grand quest. Even Luffy's most powerful punches with Gear 5 and Conqueror's Haki were futile against them. Which has fans of the series asking one very important question—how can these new foes be defeated? Zoro's next power-up will be soul-cutting haki Going off clues in the manga as well as speculation from fans, it's suggested that a unique form of Haki is required to take down opponents that can't be killed through traditional means. This Haki goes directly after the magical soul of one's opponent, skipping right over their corporeal form and even their immortality. This special ability hasn't been fully detailed yet, it appears to be what's used by Scopper Gaban, a legendary former crewmate of Gol D. Roger. Gaban, who is currently stuck in the Underworld, shown using attacks that damage immortal beings – an ability no one else has been able to use up until now. 'His attacks are doing damage. What was his secret to success and how did he accomplish it? — Chopper, flabbergasted at Gaban's strength It's hoped that Gaban will have the chance to teach this skill to Zoro in the near future, and perhaps the other Straw Hats as well. Zoro's training in Elbaf could make him admiral-level Once Zoro figures out the secret to cutting immortal bodies, he's going to be more powerful than ever before. Fans maintain that he would be able to go up against foes in minutes like the giant warrior Dorry or even have a fighting chance against Admirals of the Navy. Not just that, this would get him one step closer to beating his long-time foe—Dracule Mihawk, the world's strongest swordsman. Zoro's trained his whole life for that moment, and the Elbaf arc should finally set him up for it. One Piece chapter 1151 release date and time The next chapter of One Piece will come out . Sunday, 8 June 2025 (US/UK), TBC Legit platforms: Manga Plus, Viz Media 12 AM JST (Monday) Or, you can read it for free and legally through these services, which sync up the same day as Japan's official release. Zoro is consistently the most beloved character in all of One Piece, so each time he levels up it never fails to get fans pumped. This new Haki ability to cut through souls would make them the biggest game changers, particularly as the so-called Straw Hat Pirates gets ready to topple the biggest antagonist and main masterminds of One Piece. With Imu's demon army on the attack and the Final Saga at a zenith climax, Zoro's next power-up may very well determine the fate of the entire world.

One Piece: Oda confirms Luffy needs a new power-up stronger than Gear 5 and conqueror's haki
The Final Saga kicks into gear, the Straw Hat captain will have to contend with his most formidable opponent yet—Imu, a god-like king even more powerful than Kaido. One Piece's world is on the brink of its largest climax yet. After more than 25 years of piracy, the saga is entering its Final Saga after all this time, and creator Eiichiro Oda is doing all he can to ensure fans know what's really at stake. In another significant spoiler, Oda admitted that even with the immense powers of Luffy's Gear 5 and his advanced Haki, he will require an even more unrealized potential to beat the order's ultimate villain Imu. One Piece is an internationally beloved, record-breaking manga and anime franchise about the adventures of Luffy, a boy whose body has turned into rubber and who dreams of becoming King of the Pirates. To stay competitive with villains that have come before him, Luffy has been given new powerful transformations and fighting styles, becoming more powerful in every story arc. In this Final Saga, even his strongest forms might not be enough. Luffy reached Yonko-level in wano, but that's still not enough During the Wano Country arc, Luffy was able to take full advantage of Gear 5 once his Devil Fruit had awoken. This transformation provided him with almost cartoon-like liberties in combat, enabling him to contort, extend, and otherwise manipulate the field of play to suit his preferences. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Encontre voos low-cost Voos | Anúncios de Pesquisa Saiba Mais Undo On top of this, he developed the ability to coat his strikes in Conqueror's Haki, a special kind of spiritual energy only the most powerful characters can master. 'This is my peak! This is Gear 5!' — Monkey D. Luffy During the Wano arc of One Piece, he uses these powers to defeat Kaido, the world's strongest creature. With that victory, Luffy became a Yonko himself. He is one of the four empire-building pirates calling the shots in the New World. Now, a much larger menace has come: Imu, the true lord of the world. Imu's power is beyond anything we've seen before When it comes to the main villain of One Piece, I do believe that Imu is almost unlike any other villain fans have gotten in this series. Imu's first major appearance came during the Wano arc earlier this year, in which he's revealed to control the World Government from the shadows and has lived for centuries, perhaps even since the Void Century. In Chapter 1149, fans were treated to a first-hand account of Imu releasing unimaginable powers, all the while manipulating a creature called Gunko. Not only is Imu physically powerful, they possess Conqueror's Haki, can (as we've discussed here) grant others immortality, and might even share powers with the Five Elders—who have all become powerful yokai thanks to dark abilities. 'Allow Mu to show thee the dominance of a God!' — Imu Additionally, it's implied that Imu's powers go beyond the physical and influence the soul, rendering them virtually immune to defeat by outside force. Even Joy Boy, a mythical hero credited with being even stronger than current Luffy, might not have been able to defeat Imu in the past. Gear 5 and haki aren't enough to win the final war If Luffy's ever going to achieve victory, he'll require a lot more than just Gear 5 and Conqueror's Haki. Based on these theories and recent developments as well as Oda's foreshadowing, it seems like Luffy will need to learn or discover new techniques that can affect the soul in order to harm or defeat Imu. This might mean: Mastering Gear 5 deeper, unlocking potential With Mastering Gear 5 deeper, tapping into various new abilities. Better still would be perfecting all three varieties of Haki, namely Observation, Armament, and Conqueror's. Discovering these soul-based attacks might be the key in defeating the immortals Receiving counsel from influential mentors, such as the enigmatic Scopper Gaban who should finally return to help train Luffy Where to read and watch One Piece The new One Piece chapter is serving all that hype as well right now in the Final Saga. Chapter 1151 will come out officially on … June 7, 2025 (Saturday) – for most of the rest of the world Free to read on Manga Plus and Viz Media Fans are looking forward to learning more about Imu, taking a deeper dive into Luffy's training, and even getting a glimpse at the start of his next transformation. Read the Manga Free and legal on Manga Plus and Watch the English Dub Available on Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Funimation Luffy's journey thus far has seen him overcome every limit, yet with One Piece's recently-announced Final Saga promises to be his greatest test to date. On The Up: Northlander Malcolm Wano on empowering youth with traditional skills
With a forestry background and a passion for passing on knowledge, Wano proves how voluntary, koha-based initiatives can create meaningful social change, one seedling and skill at a time. He has been volunteering intensively for about the last three years in response to the increased need he sees. 'It's gotten rough out there,' Wano said. In recent years, he's also noticed a shift from a traditional koha-based (gift/reciprocal) community approach to a funding-dependent model. In his view, modern community work has become too reliant on waiting for funding before taking action. Traditionally, people would help immediately when they saw a need, Wano said. Kiahaanga Whakarereke Trust gets some funding from various entities but mainly continues to operate within the traditional spirit. As such, its capacity is limited. However, within those bounds, it strives to make a deep and lasting impact, Wano said. Intensive work is usually limited at any one time to a fairly small circle of people, mostly those already known to the trust's members, but it also takes on police referrals. 'We try to get them before they get into much trouble,' Wano said. 'We found that restoring old life skills is probably something that can really have a lasting benefit. 'That's really the aim because restoring a person's identity, helping them to get back to their roots and restoring their mana, enables them to contribute to the community.' That said, Wano noted people 'have to get to a certain stage in life before they want to make that kind of change'. Last year, motivated by the cost of living crisis, was the first time in many years that Wano ploughed up the entirety of one of his paddocks to grow kūmara, tomatoes, corn, cabbages, kumikumi aka kamokamo (heritage Māori squash) and other produce. With the help of whānau, mokopuna, good growing conditions, carefully timed watering, and karakia (prayer), Wano produced a bumper crop, some of which is already being shared around the wider community. Not only is gardening a good way to address economic challenges and bring people together, but it's also a good way of ensuring whānau get nutritious food, Wano said. He believed nutritious kai is often the most expensive and a lack of it is a big part of some of today's negative whānau dynamics – 'too many takeaways and not enough real, good, nutritious kai'. Aware that the cost of seedlings might be putting some whānau off gardening, the trust built a greenhouse at Moerewa, where members raises seedlings to share with the community and hold wānanga on topics like composting, worm farming and seed-keeping. 'I think a lot of people used to do gardening back in the day but it started to fall away. So what we're doing for the younger ones is upskilling them,' Wano said. 'It helps to lift their mana so they feel they're not just taking from their household but being a provider for it. 'A lot of Māori people lose track of their wairua [spirit] and it's really a matter of bringing those things back into a balance – naturally and spiritually. It gives people a good direction," Wano said. 'As we upskill somebody, we give them the means to kick off a garden [maara] in their own place – so that might be box gardens and seedlings, just to get them keen.'

One Piece creator confirms big plans for Shanks in the final saga
One Piece, the famous world-conquering manga and anime juggernaut from Eiichiro Oda, is moving into its final climactic Final Saga. As the series begins to wrap up after more than 25 years, Oda has gone on record to confirm what Long Ring Long Land fans have been hoping for all along —Shanks, the red-haired swashbuckler who launched Luffy's adventure, will be a central, pivotal player in the saga's last arc. This announcement has sparked new global enthusiasm, particularly for the old-school fans that have been waiting decades to finally see Shanks in action. For returnees, it's an excellent opportunity to delve into one of the most groundbreaking tales in anime history. Who exactly is Shanks in One Piece the mysterious pirate who inspired Luffy's dream Shanks is one of the most important and enigmatic characters in all of One Piece. He's the pirate who, through his adventures, inspired a young Monkey D. Luffy to pursue his own dream of becoming the Pirate King. Shanks is responsible for giving Luffy his signature straw hat—the very same hat previously owned by the infamous Gol D. Roger. For all of his pivotal role in the story, Shanks has only appeared sporadically over the course of the narrative. A founding member of the Yonko, the four most powerful pirates in the world, Shanks is characterized by his easy-go-lucky attitude, overwhelming strength, and mysterious intentions. Fans have long argued over which side they should take: is Shanks the washed-up hero, the fateful guardian figure, or the creepy predator? Eiichiro Oda says it loud and clear: Shanks will dominate the final saga In a recently resurfaced 1998 quote, Oda stated: 'When Shanks appears frequently in the manga, you can assume that One Piece has entered the Final Saga.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Entrevista exclusiva: a verdade sobre o magnésio que ninguém te contou AlwaysFit Undo Certainly, that prophecy has come true. In the last few chapters, Shanks has appeared in consecutive chapters, proving Oda's decade-plus plan true. The red-haired pirate isn't just back — he's front and center . As far as Oda's concerned, Shanks has been one of the biggest players pushing the story's action forward and he'll play a direct role when it comes time to clash over the One Piece treasure, the Void Century's secrets and perhaps the world's fate. Shanks was always waiting—for Nika , for Luffy, and for the new era Throughout the Wano arc, fans discovered that Luffy's Devil Fruit was not the Gomu Gomu no Mi—it was the Mythical Zoan Fruit, which is related to the Sun God Nika, a freedom-loving warrior of legend. In retrospect, it is now obvious that Shanks was aware of Nika the whole time. From his mysterious dealings with the Five Elders to his knowing smile at Luffy awakening his full powers, Shanks's every action indicates that he's been biding his time—for Nika, and for Luffy—to free the world. Shanks is not just an ally—He may be Luffy's biggest rival We've seen Oda develop Shanks for more than the purpose of simply being this mentor archetype, rather one of the final big challenges—or allies—that Luffy will encounter. Some diehard fans think Shanks is protecting the last island, Laugh Tale, while others think he'll confront Luffy and try to halt his progress to save the balance of the world. There are even fan theories that Shanks is actually working for the World Government, which would make him not only a hero, but one of the most dangerous characters in the series. Might he be the final obstacle standing between the Pirate King and the throne? All of this will be disclosed in the Final Saga. Egghead arc confirms Shanks's role among the 'main players' In this most recent arc on Egghead Island, it was Dr. Vegapunk's transmission to the world that set off a chain reaction around the globe. Shortly after his announcement, the manga introduced the main characters of the Final Saga—Luffy, Blackbeard, the Revolutionary Army, the World Government, and Shanks. This eventual visual confirmation raises Shanks to a joint level of importance with the protagonist himself. Oda is sending a message loud and clear here: Shanks will not merely serve as a moral lodestar for the story. He will define it. Beyond everything outside the four seas: Shanks's history is key to the endgame Shanks was originally an apprentice on Gol D. Roger's ship, which would mean he has direct knowledge of the One Piece treasure and the world's hidden secrets. He might already have an idea of what's on Laugh Tale, the last island. Armed with that wisdom, and with his recent machinations in the ongoing story, fans are convinced Shanks will either lead that new era—or prevent it from coming about prematurely. When does the next chapter of One Piece come out One Piece Chapter 1148 has now come to a conclusion, altogether paving the way for the next chapter, One Piece Chapter 1149, which will be officially available on Sunday, May 25, 2025, for the majority of readers around the world. Japanese fans will be receiving it at midnight on Monday, May 26th. Currently, you can read the most recent chapters for free and legally on Manga Plus or the Shonen Jump app. The era of Shanks begins now For too long, and after decades in the shadowsAfter over a decade of speculation surrounding his role, Red-Haired Shanks is finally taking center stage, for better or worse. Eiichiro Oda has made it very clear that he's no side character, he's one of the main focal points to One Piece's monumental conclusion. Whatever role he plays, friend or foe, one thing is clear. Shanks is about to shake up the world of One Piece for good. If you've ever wanted to discover what makes One Piece so special, now is the perfect chance to head aboard and find out. The original pirate that started it all is back — and the end is finally in sight. Check out our list of the latest Hindi , English , Tamil , Telugu , Malayalam , and Kannada movies .
