Republican announces bid to unseat Dem U.S. Rep. Landsman in district covering Warren County
Jul. 25—An Air Force veteran and former CIA official announced his 2026 congressional campaign with the intent of unseating incumbent Democratic U.S. Rep. Greg Landsman in a vulnerable southwest Ohio district. Eric Conroy, a Cincinnati Republican, bills himself as the product of four generations of blue-collar workers. He told Fox News Digital ahead of his announcement that he wants to be a "common-sense advocate" in Washington, D.C. He's running to represent Ohio's 1st Congressional District, which covers much of Cincinnati, the eastern portions of Hamilton County, and all of Warren County, in the U.S. House of Representatives. His campaign website outlines a political platform that includes tighter border security, supporting school choice, protecting crypto from over-regulation, cutting burdensome code as a means to help small businesses, and more. The website also calls out Landsman for a 2023 vote against a U.S. House resolution that generally prohibits transgender women from participating in women's scholastic sports. "Eric believes that women's sports should be reserved for biological females to ensure fair competition. He supports legislation that clearly defines sex based on biological difference in federal law to protect the fairness of women's athletic competitions from elementary school to college," his website reads. Landsman was first elected to the U.S. House in 2022, defeating a Republican incumbent with 52.8% of the vote. When he was reelected in 2024, Landsman became the first Democrat to represent OH-1 in consecutive terms in decades. At the time, Landsman credited his electoral success to his practical approach. "Voters want normal, pragmatic, reliable, and bipartisan leadership — and they know they get that with me and our team. We get things done for folks in southwest Ohio. Police have arrested the father of a nine-year-old girl who was found dead less than 24 hours after he claimed his daughter had been abducted. Melina Frattolin was reported missing on Saturday after Luciano Frattolin told police he thought his daughter had been kidnapped by someone in a white van. But records now show that the 45-year-old father is being held in Essex County Jail, according to local reports. It is unclear if any charges have been filed, with police set to provide a further update Monday moring. The distressing development comes after police issued a heartbreaking update saying 'there is no indication that an abduction occurred' and the little girl had been found dead. 'The Warren County Sheriff's Office initially led the investigation,' NYSP said. 'As the case progressed, law enforcement identified inconsistencies in the father's account of events and the timeline he provided.'

UPDATE: AMBER ALERT – Object of Amber Alert reportedly found dead
LAKE GEORGE, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – Television station WNYT in Albany is reporting that 9-year old Melina Galanis Frattolin, the object of an Amber Alert issued this morning, has been found dead. The station cites sources confirming that she was found deceased. No other details on where she was found or the circumstances surrounding her death have been released. As 3:45PM Sunday, there was no notice of either the abduction or the discovery of the victim on posted on either the Warren County Sheriff Office website or their Facebook page. No information regarding the suspect or suspects have been released. The New York State Police, at the request of the Warren County Sherriff Office, issued an Amber Alert for a 9-year-old girl who is believed to have been abducted Saturday night in Lake George. Part of the Amber Alert states that the child was taken 'under circumstances that lead police to believe that they are in imminent danger of serious bodily harm and/or death.' That statement is part of conditions that is needed in order for an Amber Alert to be issued. The missing is Melina Galanis Frattolin, 9-years old, she is reported to be 5 foot tall and weight about 100 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. Frattolin was last seen wearing a blue and white striped shirt, shorts and white Adidas sneakers. Melina is of Indian heritage. 9-year-old Canadian girl found dead in upstate New York after dad claimed she was abducted
A 9-year-old girl whose disappearance triggered an Amber Alert has been found dead in New York. On Sunday, an Amber Alert was issued for Melina Frattolin after she went missing. She was found dead hours later in Ticonderoga, New York, according to New York State Police. Luciano Frattolin, 45, the girl's father, reported his daughter missing to Warren County officials just before 10pm the previous evening, according to state police. He reportedly insinuated to police that the girl may have been abducted in the Lake George area. Warren County Sheriff's deputies followed up with Frattolin, and "identified inconsistencies in the father's account of events and the timeline he provided," according to the state's report. In the Amber Alert, Melina was said to have been "in imminent danger of serious bodily harm and/or death." Melina Frattolin, aged 9, was found dead in Ticonderoga, New York on July 20 hours after her father reported her missing and suggested she had been abducted. Police later determined no abduction had taken place, and noted "inconsistencies" in her father's account of her disappearance (New York State Police) A search began that involved multiple local and state agencies, and hours later the girl's body was discovered 35 miles away from the spot where her father said he'd last seen her. Authorities, at the time working the case as a child abduction, determined that the kidnapping story they'd been told by her father was incorrect. "Due to jurisdictional considerations, the Warren County Sheriff's Office has turned the investigation over to the New York State Police," the agency said in a statement. "At this time, there is no indication that an abduction occurred, and there is no threat to the public." Frattolin and his daughter are both Canadian residents. Police have not arrested a suspect as of this report. No cause of death has been determined, and there are no further details at the time of this report regarding his discovery.
