Nancy Wilson says two 'irreplaceable' instruments have been stolen ahead of Heart's tour

Heart have revealed that two 'irreplaceable' instruments have been stolen from them, just as they were due to embark on their June tour. The band had set up at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City on May 30, the day before the first show on their latest US jaunt but were 'devastated' to discover that two instruments had been taken from under their noses. A one-of-a-kind baritone Telecaster, featuring an intricately painted headstock custom-made for Nancy Wilson, and a vintage 1966 Gibson EM-50 mandolin that has been with the band for 25 years were both stolen. 'These instruments are more than just tools of our trade — they're extensions of our musical souls,' says Nancy Wilson. 'The baritone Tele was made uniquely for me, and Paul [Moak]'s mandolin has been with him for decades. We're heartbroken, and we're asking for their safe return—no questions asked. Their value to us is immeasurable.' Such is the personal value of the distinctive instruments that a reward is being offered to anyone with relevant information. Individuals with information can contact tour manager Tony Moon via email at tonymoon@ The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees are on the road with fellow hall of famers Cheap Trick, and Squeeze, celebrating 40 years since the release of their wildly successful self-titled album. Wilson recently reflected on the making of 1985's Heart, telling Guitar World, that while her beloved acoustic guitar had been the cornerstone of the band's sound, she felt 'pressured' by producer Ron Nevison to ditch the acoustics if they wanted to resonate with the contemporary audience. '[Heart] revitalized the band,' she explained in the same piece. 'It took us up to a whole other level of global success, so there's nothing I regret about what we did or where we compromised.' The latest dates come after they were forced to cancel a 2024 tour, as Ann Wilson revealed she was undergoing cancer treatment. The singer promised they'd be back in 2025, and she has been true to her word. It makes the theft of the two instruments even more heartbreaking. Guitar World hopes they return to the band – as Nuno Bettencourt found following the onstage theft of his prized Washburn, sometimes these stories can have a happy ending.

Washburn graduate etches memory of lost fraternity house on campus with new monument The Henderson Learning Resource Center first opened its doors in 1971 in the wake of the devastation caused by the 1966 tornado that hit Topeka, according to the university's website. The structure is home to the university's School of Business, nearly all of the social science departments, some School of Nursing classrooms and more. The university seeks to modernize the building so that it can continue to be used by new students for years to come. The entire project has a projected budget of $35 million and seeks to make several big changes to the structure: Expand the building's space and give the entire structure an overhaul to reflect modern needs and usage requirements. Create flexible and adaptable learning spaces. Update technology and classroom configurations to improve learning and teaching experiences. Add new collaborative spaces, lounges, study areas and other amenities. Completely modernize the building's architecture and infrastructure to support new research labs, workshops and computer labs. Make the building more accessible and accommodating to students, staff, faculty and other visitors with disabilities. Refine faculty, staff and departmental areas. New $60 million Topeka apartment community set to open in 2027 GastingerWalker&, the firm behind the design for Advisors Excel Hall, reports the renovation work will enhance the building's connection to the outdoors by drawing on natural light. City of Manhattan approves of a retail giant setting up shop in the Little Apple
MAHATTAN (KSNT) – A big online retailer is setting up shop in the little apple. In a few years from now, Lot 12 in the Manhattan Business Park, will be the future home of an Amazon warehouse. City of Manhattan commissioners approved the purchase and sale of land to Amazon. The retail giant offered to buy the land from the city for $206,010. 27 News spoke to Susan Adamchak, one of the City of Manhattan commissioners, who says an Amazon warehouse will be a great addition to the city. Washburn law professor honored by Kansas Supreme Court 'Manhattan, like a lot of communities in Kansas, has been plateauing in the last several years in terms of new employment opportunities, in terms of population growth,' Adamchak said. 'I think approving the sale of this land to Amazon with it opportunities for bringing in new jobs as well as the other decisions that we've been making tonight regarding advancing support for housing in our community are both going to make Manhattan that much more attractive for young families.' Amazon has three years to begin construction on its proposed 25,000 square-foot building. If they don't start, the city can buy the lot back if it wishes. For more local news, click here. Washburn law professor honored by Kansas Supreme Court
TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Kansas Supreme Court recognized a local woman for her decades of dedication this week. Linda Elrod is the latest recipient of the prestigious Justice Award. A Washburn University Law professor for 50 years, her passion for the rights of children in the legal system exceeds well beyond the classroom. Elrod wrote the Kansas Family Law Handbook, founded the family law certification program at Washburn, served on the Governor's Kansas Child Support Commission for more than three decades and served in leadership roles for organizations around the globe. She stays active in child advocacy to this day. Even through a storied career, she says one of her happiest moments was two weeks ago serving as a moderator for the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program. 'The two people sitting next to me were both family law certificate holders of mine,' Elrod said. 'One was the child advocate, the guardian ad litem, and the other was the prosecutor, and both of them were trying to help parents and that was their ultimate goal, was to help parents do a better job of parenting their children. They're doing what I wanted them to do, which is to make sure children are protected.' Highway shutdown to create nearly 70-mile detour in central Kansas Elrod is the 18th recipient of the award, and the first woman to receive it.
