Apple Watch SE3 likely to get a new display size

Apple first introduced its toned-down watch -- the Apple Watch SE-- in 2020. The idea was to bring an affordable Apple Watch for the user, even though cutting a few edges. The Apple Watch SE 2, launched in 2022, also followed suit with 1.57-inch and 1.73-inches size options. But, a recent rumour suggests that this may change with the upcoming Watch SE 3. According to analyst Ross Young, Apple has started working on the Apple Watch SE 3, starting with its display. He reports that the upcoming Watch SE 3 will be offered in 1.6-inch and 1.8-inch display sizes, indicating minimal changes compared to the current Apple Watch SE models. advertisementApple Watch SE 3: New display sizes Apple has positioned the Watch SE as an affordable alternative in its smartwatch lineup, particularly appealing to younger users. With that in mind, a smaller, more wrist-friendly Apple Watch SE 3 would make sense—especially if it combines a compact design with a larger display and slimmer bezels for a more modern the Apple Watch SE has followed the design of previous-generation models, with the current version based on the Series 6. Apple may well stick with that design language for the next update, but several alternative paths are possible. For instance, the upcoming SE model might draw inspiration from the larger Series 7, which features 41mm and 45mm case sizes. Alternatively, Apple could unveil a completely new design for the SE line. Some reports have suggested that Apple has been working on a version of the Watch SE with a hard plastic casing available in a selection of bright, fun colours. However, it remains uncertain whether this concept has advanced beyond the planning stages. If Apple does move away from its usual design strategy, the next Watch SE could offer 1.6- and 1.8-inch displays in a slimmed-down chassis—potentially closer to the older 38mm and 42mm options. This would allow for a smaller form factor while still providing more screen real estate, thanks to reduced also important to note that the display sizes being reported may not be entirely accurate, potentially due to rounding differences. Nevertheless, the possibility of a refreshed design—be it based on Series 6, Series 7, or something entirely new—leaves the door open for interesting developments in the next Apple Watch SE. Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3 to launch soon The year 2025 looks set to be a significant one for the Apple Watch, with a host of new features and health-focused updates on the way—though the overall design may see little to Mark Gurman, the upcoming Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3 are expected to maintain a design largely consistent with their predecessors. However, they'll introduce some notable enhancements. Most significantly, the Ultra 3 is tipped to support both satellite connectivity and 5G RedCap technology, significantly broadening its connectivity of the major health-related additions for both models is blood pressure detection. While this new feature won't provide detailed readings, it will alert users to potential signs of hypertension—similar to how Apple currently handles sleep apnea detection. This functionality had initially been planned for the Apple Watch Series 10 but was delayed, reportedly due to the constraints of a thinner hardware design. Now, it appears Apple is ready to move forward with the feature in this year's addition to hardware upgrades, Gurman notes that Apple is also working on a revamped Health app and a new AI-driven coaching service aimed at personalised wellness support. While there's no confirmed timeline for their release, it's possible they could launch alongside new AirPods equipped with heart rate monitoring the minimal visual changes, Apple seems focused on pushing forward with meaningful updates that enhance health tracking and connectivity—positioning the Apple Watch as an even more capable health and fitness companion in the year ahead.
